Sanatorium Merke is 12 km away. from the district center Merke and is located in the wide Merken gorge of the Kyrgyz Alatau, at an altitude of 750m above sea level. Finishing work is underway, it is planned to equip the heating system in the temple and the spiritual and educational center. The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a monument of history and culture, it is the only surviving church building of pre-revolutionary construction in the Dzhambul region, one of the oldest churches in Kazakhstan.

Another church of that time - the Church of the Holy Trinity, built in 1911, is located in the village of Tole bi, Shusky district, today it houses a museum. The Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God in Chaldovar, built in 1889, also survived. It is known that the Chaldovar temple did not have a full-time priest, and until 1891 it was fed by a priest from Merke. At that time, Chaldovar was part of the Aulie-Ata district, but now it is Kyrgyzstan, and state border shares a once-united parish.

Merken Christians consider September 21, 1896 to be the opening date of their brick church. There is no exact documentary evidence confirming or refuting the correctness of this date. The only document of that time, which was extracted from the bowels of the archives, is the "Project of the Church in the village of Merke, Aulieatinsky district" of 1893. This document allows us to state that the building was built no earlier than 1893. As can be seen from the project, initially the temple was planned to be built without a belfry. Probably, the belfry was built over the entrance to the temple instead of the porch a few years later, or changes were made to the project during construction.
