If one of the points is not fulfilled or the registration of the necessary papers is neglected, it will become impossible to receive insurance compensation.

  1. Do not try to repair the gadget yourself. Such actions immediately entail the refusal to pay compensation. Do not contact private service centers, familiar “craftsmen” for repairing equipment, etc. If you want to receive an insurance payment, be patient, do everything according to the law.
  2. Report the insured event to the insurer. The phone number is always indicated in the insurance contract, as well as on the official website.
  3. Tell the operator what happened. Try to avoid unnecessary emotions, unnecessary details, or rude demands. Polite communication will serve as a guarantee of an adequate solution to the problem.
  4. Report the event to the appropriate authority, for example, in case of a fire - to the state fire department, about robbery - to the police, etc. The purpose of the appeal is to obtain a supporting document. Therefore, even if it is a natural disaster, you must obtain a document from the hydrometeorological bureau or the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
  5. Issue a conclusion on the assessment of damage in the warranty service center.
  6. Prepare a complete package of required papers, namely:
  • a copy of the insurance contract;
  • a copy of the documents confirming the payment of the insurance premium;
  • original documents on the purchase of goods (cash or sales receipt, account statement, etc.);
  • statement of the alleged insured event;
  • a copy of the warranty card;
  • a copy of the passport or other identity document;
  • original documents from the relevant authorities, indicating the occurrence of an insured event or events that led to its occurrence;
  • conclusion of the service center on damage to the insured equipment.

What is not an insured event

  • The gadget stopped working after downloading an application or other software;
  • The battery charge does not hold or is discharged in an extremely fast time;
  • Touchscreen malfunctions;
  • Sticky device buttons;
  • Problems with detection and recognition of the SIM card;
  • Interference or complete malfunction of the speaker;
  • Spontaneous shutdown of the gadget;
  • Malfunctions in the operation of individual applications, Internet connections;
  • Inability to charge the gadget due to a broken charger.

Such malfunctions, of course, upset the buyer, but they are the error of the manufacturer of this device, therefore these risks are not included in the insurance package from VTB.

The consumer has the opportunity for an additional fee to extend the warranty card for the device - a similar service is offered by most salons selling appliances. In this case, the device will be repaired at the warranty center at the expense of the manufacturer.

"Pitfalls" of obtaining insurance on the phone

Despite the seemingly extremely favorable conditions, insurance policies for mobile devices are issued quite rarely. There are several reasons for this.

A number of users plan to replace the gadget in a couple of years, so they do not see the need to insure a device purchased for a relatively short period.

Others rely on reviews about how difficult it is to receive compensation in the event of an insured event. There are indeed some nuances here:

  • Not every mechanical damage is recognized as an insured event - if the scratch does not interfere with the normal operation of the gadget, no compensation will be paid;
  • In the absence of any document (even the original packaging of the insured gadget), the refund will be denied;
  • Damage is often not fully compensated;
  • It is difficult to get compensation for theft, because the client needs to prove that the device was actually stolen, and not lost or hidden in order to receive an insurance payment;
  • The policy begins to operate strictly from the specified date, and not from the date of purchase of the device. It is possible that the policy is valid from Monday, an insured event occurred on the weekend before it, and it is no longer possible to receive a refund;
  • It is extremely difficult to issue a refund of the sum insured within a five-day period (cooling off period) after the purchase. Therefore, if the insurance was imposed by a credit manager, it will not work to refuse it.
