The most economical budget car in terms of fuel consumption. How to choose a budget car. The most economical middle class cars

Fuel consumption is one of the most important characteristics of any car. The vast majority of drivers, even those who can afford not to bother once again about spending on gasoline, do not want their car to absorb ten litas of fuel for 100 kilometers. Fortunately, there are enough cars on the market that do not “eat” very much. Here are the best ones.

Absolute leader: Toyota Prius

This car should be singled out from the general mass of economical cars for two reasons. First, it's a hybrid. Secondly, he is really very good in terms of fuel consumption. This is because the car burns only 2.9 liters of fuel per 100 km.

1. Volvo V40 Cross Country

Recent studies have shown that the most economical car on the roads of Russia among the fairly common ones is the Volvo V40 Cross Country hatchback. The car has a diesel engine with a capacity of 120 horsepower, which works in conjunction with an automatic transmission. For 100 km, the car “eats” 4.6 liters of fuel.

2.Smart ForTwo

In second place was just such a hatchback. Equipped with a 3-cylinder turbocharged engine, the Smart ForTwo delivers 90 horsepower. The engine, by the way, is paired with a “robot”. The car consumes 4.9 liters per 100 km.

3. Kia Picanto

Kia cars in Russia are incredibly popular and it is very good that one of them was able to break into the economy rating. For 100 kilometers, this foreign handsome man will not burn much fuel, namely 5.6 liters.

4 Citroën DS3

PSA Peugeot Citroën's DS Automobiles Urban Youth DS 3 is a car that deserves a little attention. Mainly in honor of the fact that she also does not differ in "gluttony". It will consume a little more than 5.6 liters per 100 km.

5 Nissan Qashqai

Quite a bit behind the previous two candidates (Qashqai and DS 3) behind the proud "Japanese" Nissan Qashqai. In general, the car demonstrates the consumption of the same 5.6 liters per hundred kilometers in the combined cycle. This is a very good result for a crossover, albeit a compact one.

6 Peugeot 2008

A car that is well known to so many drivers. The mini crossover is also famous for its low fuel consumption. For 100 kilometers in the combined cycle, he will “eat” no more than 5.9 liters, which is an excellent result.

7 Mini Cooper

And here's something really small. This British car is also familiar with the concept of "moderate diet", like all the others listed above. From Peugeot 2008 not only does not lag behind, but sometimes even surpasses it in terms of consumption. It will take 5.9 liters per 100 km.

Do you like automotive themes? Then here you will only be upset for the lost money and time.

High fuel prices and car maintenance in recent years have become the main and main problem of all motorists in Russia. Especially if we take into account inflation, the rise in prices associated with it, as well as the fall in incomes of the population. On the basis of these criteria, the urgent question immediately arises: "What car is the most profitable to maintain and buy on our Russian car market?" Of course, this is natural, which is primarily and directly related to the cost of fuel on the market, which has increased significantly in price over the past few years. Therefore, the share of small cars in the Russian market is slowly but surely beginning to rise and grow.

The upward trend in fuel prices will naturally continue along with inflation. Ultimately, in the near future, many people (motorists) will certainly be interested in such questions: - "", "", well, etc., etc. questions. We invite our readers to familiarize themselves with the review (list) of the most economical cars that can currently be purchased (buy) in Russia. So, let's start with the announcement.

In the context of a long economic crisis in our country, an increasing number of citizens (car enthusiasts) want to save as much money as possible (which is always in short supply). First of all, many of us consider such cost savings, directly on the car itself, which directly becomes the culprit of the lion's share of the costs of the entire family budget. But how can you save money in this situation if your car consumes not so little fuel?

Of course, you can take advantage of reducing your fuel costs, but this, we assure you, will not help much to save big (namely, big) money. The easiest way, if your family budget cannot cope with the maintenance of a car, is to buy yourself another car that will. Of course we are talking about cars with a small engine size.

We have selected for our readers the best cars for today in terms of fuel consumption, which can be officially (legally) bought in our car market. We did not include electric and hybrid models of cars in our rating, since the market for such cars in our country is still in its infancy. For our part, we also believe that until a developed infrastructure for charging electric and hybrid vehicles (their charging batteries) appears in Russia, the demand for cars that run on alternative energy sources will not grow. For this very reason, in the review of the most economical models, we included only diesel and gasoline versions of cars.

And further. Please note that in our review, the car is indicated in accordance with the official specification of the automakers themselves. Thus, it must be remembered that in reality, the fuel consumption of a car may not correspond to the technical specifications provided by the manufacturer, and all this is due to the peculiarities of fuel consumption measurements by the automakers themselves and various operating conditions of cars.

As you can already see, the TOP-10 profitable cars in Russia included very compact and economical cars. Traditionally, these are cars of class "A" and "B", which differ from the rest in their excellent efficiency. In most cases, these machines are designed for operation in dense urban space in large metropolitan areas. But despite their efficiency, these compact cars will not be able to fully meet the demand of most urban residents. It's all about their body size. Such compact cars are more suitable for trips alone or a maximum of two.

But many of us, as it has been observed, often do not drive alone. Agree with us that such small compact cars are not very convenient and comfortable for family trips. This is especially true of the volume of their trunk, which is mainly intended, for example, for loading purchases from the store. But given their efficiency and compactness, this car segment is simply irreplaceable for those who want to save on fuel, and especially for those for whom finding a parking space for a car in the city is always a big nightmare. On such a compact car, you will always find a parking space for yourself (for a car) without any problems.

Below, we invite you to view the full list of the most (TOP-25) profitable cars in terms of fuel consumption, which are currently represented on the Russian car market. In the table, we immediately indicated the fuel consumption of the car in mixed mode, based on the official technical specifications provided by the automakers. Also, for our part, we calculated in advance for each car model its fuel costs, based on the average annual mileage of 20 thousand kilometers and the average cost of fuel in Russia as of the end of 2015, the average price of which is 35 rubles per 1 liter (AI- 95 and diesel fuel).

*Fuel costs based on 20,000 kilometers per 1 year.

As you can see, in Russia today there are enough cars with which you can significantly reduce your fuel costs. If at the moment, when visiting a gas station, you often worry that the cost of fuel has suddenly increased by 10-20 kopecks again and at the same time you still feel significant expenses from your wallet, then most likely you need (it's time) to change your car to a more economical option.

But still, fuel costs are the main part of all yours. Therefore, you need to remember the following, if you are no longer able to continue to maintain your old car, which consumes too much fuel, then perhaps the time has come (has come) when you need to make a choice, to change your old gluttonous car to a more economical car model. ?)

Before deciding for yourself which car to buy, think about your (your) needs in advance. Decide for yourself for what purpose you need a car? What tasks should he solve and perform? How many people will (most often) ride in the car? Remember that fuel economy, although an important factor when owning a car, is up to you to solve such a problem and only based on your personal liking and preferences. After all, you must agree with us that buying a car with low fuel consumption in order to subsequently receive discomfort from the dimensions of such a car, especially when traveling with the whole family for shopping, is not at all the best solution.

Nowadays, the most economical cars are those that run on a hybrid engine or electric. But in our article, we decided to make a rating of the most economical cars in terms of fuel consumption in 2018-2019, excluding hybrids, only diesel and gasoline engines. Economical fuel consumption should be one of the most important criteria when choosing a car, as fuel prices are constantly rising, and most of the money will go down the drain if your car is not economical.

TOP 10 economical gasoline cars in 2019

Recently, everyone has witnessed a rapid rise in fuel prices. The cost of gasoline rises several times in half a year, and therefore, when buying a car, future car owners are increasingly paying attention to fuel consumption, and therefore we decided to make a rating of economical gasoline cars in 2019. For example, when buying a budget vehicle at a low price, a motorist runs the risk of spending more on gasoline than when buying an expensive car. ZAZ Lanos will burn twice as much fuel as an expensive BMW sedan. Over the years, the difference in gas costs can be added up and spent on a brand new car.

10th place Volkswagen Polo (2018)

Volkswagen Polo opens our today's ranking of the most economical cars powered by gasoline. Volkswagen Polo can be purchased as a hatchback and as a sedan. The average fuel consumption on the highway for a German car is 5.7 liters per hundred kilometers. • 1.4 MT 5-speed Manual transmission / 100hp fuel consumption 5.5l/100km

4th place Peugeot 208

Getting to the top three of the most economical cars with gasoline engines, I would like to note the French Peugeot 208 hatchback. This car is the smallest car in the French line. Therefore, the designers equipped the baby with a 1-liter engine that consumes only 4.4 liters of fuel.

An average consumption of 6-7 liters per hundred is already a trend of recent years, and a good half of fresh models fit into this indicator in their declared figures. An indicator of 5 liters per 100 kilometers is already considered excellent, and every second one cannot boast of this. However, our today's nominees went even further - the threshold for them was the figure ... 4!

Of course, such a bar is submitted to ordinary gasoline cars only in exceptional cases, and in ours one cannot do without diesel or electric magic. Well, one more note: in this top, we, of course, are guided by the indicators declared by the manufacturer in the lists of technical characteristics, and they coincide with reality as often as the promises of politicians. But, as in the latter case, we can only grumble and hope for maximum honesty. So let's go!

Volvo V40 Cross Country

Consumption per 100 km combined: 4.1 liters

We enter the distance - and here we are met by the first ultra-efficient car: the Volvo V40 Cross Country. Its gasoline modifications are quite moderate in their appetites, but the diesel engine promises much more impressive savings. The 1.6-liter unit produces 120 hp. and 280 Nm, and in return requires 4.1 liters of diesel fuel per hundred kilometers in the combined cycle.

Yes, this is 100 milliliters more than our set threshold, but we decided to forgive the “Swede” such a “liberty” due to the fact that its road version of the V40 in European specification and with a manual transmission does flaunt an indicator of 3.4 liters per 100 km in combined cycle and 3.2 on the highway. Well, for our particular nominee, a consumption of 4.1 liters per hundred with a tank volume of 62 liters promises a power reserve of 1,512 kilometers, which looks very tempting - albeit very optimistic.

Consumption per 100 km combined: 4 l

And here are the first surprises - you do not expect to see a fairly large and dynamic Bavarian coupe in the list of the most economical ones. However, it has a 420d version, which means 2 diesel liters under the hood, quite worthy of 190 hp. and even more promising 400 Nm.

Such a car picks up the first hundred in 7.1 seconds, which in itself is far from a shocking figure. However, the beauty is that, taking into account all of the above, the nominal consumption is 4 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle and 3.6 on the highway. And in the first case, a tank with a capacity of 57 liters means 1,425 kilometers traveled until the car stalls.

Citroen C4 Picasso

Our next "economist" hails from France and has not only outstanding fuel efficiency to its credit, but also an equally noticeable practicality due to its class and therefore size. Citroen C4 Picasso with a 1.6-liter BlueHDi diesel engine has 120 hp. and 300 Nm, while consuming 3.9 liters in the combined cycle and 3.7 on the highway.

The consumer characteristics of this minivan, and another good news is that its "enlarged" version with the prefix Grand, also has seven seats and almost the same fuel consumption - 4 liters in the combined cycle and 3.7 in the country. If we consider these figures achievable, then for a smaller minivan, a 55-liter tank provides autonomy for 1,410 kilometers, and for a larger one, for 1,375.

Consumption per 100 km combined: 3.9 liters

By no means a strange coincidence, the same engine as that of the superior Citroen is available in cars with the louder name DS. The DS4 hatchback, although it has a more luxurious interior design, technically relies on the same indicators: 1.6 liters, 120 hp. and 300 Nm. Well, the consumption, respectively, is almost the same: 3.9 liters in the combined cycle and 3.6 on the highway. The main difference against this background can be considered an increase of 5 liters to the volume of the fuel tank, which increases the potential autonomy to 1,538 kilometers in the combined cycle.

Consumption per 100 km combined: 3.9 liters

This "German" works according to the same scheme as the DS: the same motor as that of a fellow, but less weight and dimensions in order to gain another half a glass of diesel fuel. And it works: the two-liter BMW 120d hatchback has the same 190 hp. power and 400 Nm of thrust, which is the same as the 420d coupe, but “eats” 3.9 liters in the combined cycle and 3.5 on the highway. True, the tank here is smaller than that of the 420d - 52 liters, which, after the simplest division operation, gives a cruising range of 1,333 kilometers. Which, in general, is also gorgeous.

By the way, the gasoline version of the BMW 118i with three cylinders is also “not far gone” from its diesel relative: the declared consumption in the extra-urban cycle is 4.2 liters per hundred. True, in the combined cycle, this is already 4.8 liters - too much to get into our rating, and the loss in “powers” is noticeable: there are only 136 hp. and 220 Nm.

Consumption per 100 km combined: 3 l

Well, here we have reached the point of no return, where in order to achieve better numbers, we will have to resort to the "white magic" of electricity. Well, speaking of hybrids, we immediately.

The new Japanese hatchback has added both in size and in terms of fuel efficiency. has a 1.8-liter gasoline engine, which, working on the Atkinson cycle, produces 99 horsepower, which are complemented by another 72 "horses" from the electric motor. The torque of the gasoline unit is 142 Nm, and the electric one is 163 Nm. Well, what all this was started for - the nominal consumption - also does not disappoint: the car should consume 3 liters in the combined cycle and 2.9 on the suburban highway. True, the tank here is noticeably smaller than that of the diesel cars presented above: 43 liters, which, however, still gives the number 1,433 as an indicator of the power reserve.

Mercedes-Benz C 350 e

Consumption per 100 km in the combined cycle: 2.1-2.4 liters

Well, now meet the winner - the king of virtual consumption and the master of impressing with small numbers: the Mercedes-Benz C 350 e. This premium sedan, despite being a hybrid, knows how to splurge.

Judge for yourself: the gasoline engine here has a volume of “normal” 2 liters, and its power is 211 horsepower, to which an electric motor adds another 82. Torque - confident 350 Nm. But a much steeper indicator is the fuel consumption that interests us: according to Mercedes-Benz, it can reach up to 2.1 liters in the combined cycle. Why "before"? Because the manufacturer himself indicates a "floating" value: 2.4 - 2.1 l / 100 km. Well, if we apply this figure to a tank that holds 57 liters, then we get just a monstrous power reserve - 2,714 kilometers! It is a pity that we still do not know how to move in the universe in which automakers measure passport consumption ...

The most economical cars on the Russian market.

Toyota Prius for those who need real savings.

This car should be singled out from the general mass of economical cars for two reasons. First, it's a hybrid. Secondly, he is really very good in terms of fuel consumption. This is because the car burns only 2.9 liters of fuel per 100 km.

1. Volvo V40 Cross Country

Good old Volvo V40 Cross Country.

Smart ForTwo continues to hold the palm of leadership.
