How to download data from a broken phone. How to pull out data if the display is broken on android. Firmware problem

Articles and Lifehacks

Many inexperienced users carry a damaged gadget that is no longer repairable to a service center only to learn how to get numbers out of a broken phone.

Moreover, this procedure in the repair service is very expensive, and why overpay for something that you can do yourself at home, having a computer at hand with the synchronization program installed.

It may also turn out that all contacts were not saved in the phone's memory, but on the SIM card. And you certainly can deal with this situation personally.

Extracting numbers from a SIM card

In general, storing important contact information on a SIM card is not practical, and many owners of modern devices have stopped practicing this.

But, if you accidentally broke your phone, then the numbers saved on the SIM card can make your life much easier. To extract them, you need:

  • Pull the SIM card out of the damaged device;
  • Insert it into a new device;
  • And look at the numbers that will open without problems, because they were not recorded in the phone memory.
If the new mobile device is your personal one, then you can protect yourself and copy them to the device's memory using the "Import" function. Thus, your contacts will now be located both on the SIM card and on the mobile phone itself.

Retrieving numbers from memory

If you have been writing contacts to the phone's memory all the time, then they are not on the SIM card.

To solve the problem, you will need a computer and a synchronization program that is suitable for your brand of device. For example, for Samsung models it is Samsung Kies, and for Nokia it is Nokia PC Studio.

Once you have made sure that the desired program is installed on your PC, you can proceed to the following steps:

  1. Open Samsung Kies or Nokia PC Studio on your computer;
  2. Connect your mobile device to PC via USB cable;
  3. Wait until the program recognizes the connected gadget;
  4. Go to the "Contacts" section;
  5. And copy them to your computer.
Thus, you can extract phone numbers from a damaged device without contacting a service center and saving a decent amount of money.

There are several more or less working ways to restore contacts if the phone with a broken screen is functioning and allows you to access the memory.

One of the difficulties is that when you connect your phone to a PC, to manipulate files and access the Android file system, you need to enable USB debugging (USB debugging). Of course, it is impossible to do this on a phone with a broken screen or a non-working touchscreen.

We will describe how to “pull” contacts from Samsung without enabling USB debugging. The advantage of the approach is that you do not need to root the phone, install dubious applications.

A warning. This method will not help if USB data transfer was not initially enabled on the phone.

Step by step instructions for recovery

Owners of Samsung devices are lucky - there is excellent software for restoring and backing up contacts.

All we need is two official programs from Samsung:

  • - a proprietary program for saving a backup copy of messages, SMS, Android user data on a PC
  • Samsung Kies - works in conjunction with Smart Switch, its functions are similar.

It's great if these programs are already installed and you have used them before. If not, follow the next instructions.

1) Download and install (in any order) Smart Switch and Kies on your computer.

2) Launch Smart Switch and back up user data on Android.

Attention! If Smart Switch does not install, you most likely need to download the app on your mobile device as well. To do this, after installing Smart Switch on your PC, you need to click in the center of the screen (you will be asked to confirm the download of files to your phone). It may not be possible to do this the first time, since the actions are performed blindly. If you did everything correctly, the Smart Switch installation process will complete successfully.

3) The backup file - it's called Contact.spb - is available at: C:\Users\[Username]\Documents.

The file with contacts Contact.spb can be opened through the Samsung Kies program, in the “Contacts” tab. Through the main menu, we indicate to the program a file with a backup copy of contacts on a PC. As already mentioned, it is available at C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Backup\. As a result, Samsung Kies will display all the phone numbers and contacts stored on the phone, you can view them with all the related information.

4) To save contacts, click the "Save As.." button and select a convenient save format.

The following extensions are available to choose from - .spb, .csv and .vcf. This file can be easily imported to another mobile device or saved to Google Contacts.

This completes the restoration of contacts. By the way, in the same way it is convenient to make backup copies of your phone book on a computer. We recommend doing this regularly.

If Samsung branded software did not help to return contacts

Try also contact recovery apps from 3rd party developers - . Among them there are both paid and free tools. They require root access to work. In most cases, they only work with the working screen of the device.

But sometimes it's easier to transfer a contact book to a computer. Here it will definitely be safe and sound, and at some point you will copy it to a new device. However, a question arises. How to copy contacts from Android to computer? Is it possible?

The computer is easiest to use as a backup storage. Many users regularly throw photos taken with the built-in smartphone camera onto it. Music stocks are also stored here. So why not save from time to time to PC and contacts? In the future, in the event of a breakdown or theft of the phone, all your contacts will not be lost anywhere.

It should also be remembered that sometimes it is not possible to transfer the phone book from one device to another over the air. For example, how do you do this if the screen is broken and the touchscreen does not respond to your touch? In this case, a computer comes to the rescue - you just need to connect your smartphone to it using a USB cable.

The easiest way

The easiest way to download contacts is using the tools built into the Android operating system. To do this, do the following:

Step 1. Go to the smartphone menu and open the application " Contacts».

Step 2 Here you should click on the ellipsis located in the upper right corner, and then select " Import Export».

Step 3 On smartphones and some others, an intermediate action will be required in the form of pressing the " Settings". This will take you to a separate menu in which you can easily find the item you need, dedicated to importing and exporting license plates.

Step 4 By clicking on the corresponding item, you will see a pop-up menu. Here you should click " Export to VCF file". Depending on the phone model, this item may have a different name. For example, " Export to storage».

Step 5 Next, you should select the location where the file with contacts will be saved. It is possible that here you will be present in the form of Google Drive. You can save the file on it - then all that remains is to open your account on the computer. But we will create a file with contacts in the folder " Downloads».

Step 6 Give the file a name.

Step 7 Connect your smartphone to your computer with a working USB cable. You can find the created file in the folder Download. You just have to copy or cut it.

Step 8 When buying a new smartphone, you have to follow all the steps in reverse order. That is, you will copy the file to the phone's memory, after which, in the pop-up menu, select " Import from VCF file».

Save contacts with your Google account

If you have enabled synchronization of contacts with Google servers in your device settings, then you can do it even easier. You can transfer contacts without using your smartphone. This is especially true when the device is broken.

Step 1. Go to page contacts.google.com. Here you should click on the button " Export", if necessary, expanding the tab" More».

Step 2 In the new version of the service, the export of contacts is not supported (as of 2016). Google offers to go to the previous version of this page.

Step 3 Here, select all contacts, then click the " More” and select “ Export».

Step 4 Use the pop-up menu to specify which contacts you want to save and which format to use. When you have done this - press the blue button " Export».

Using Third Party Programs

If necessary, you can use some third-party programs. For example, Airdroid shows itself well. It will help to throw numbers through the air. At the same time, the corresponding application is installed on the smartphone, and on the computer it is enough to use any Internet browser.

You can also save contacts from Android to a computer using MOBILedit. We have already talked about this computer program. It is used to copy the phone book, call log, SMS messages and more.

Hello everyone, dear users! If for some reason your phone broke down, having stored all the important information that was stored in its memory, then in this case you should not be upset!

Moreover, even if the smartphone cannot be turned on, you can completely restore all files. So, how to get contacts from a broken phone, how to fix this situation? Let's find out!

Phone book

You need to start with a list of phone numbers. If the device runs on the Android OS, you can try to log into your Google account and enter the same login as from the "Play Market". At the top left corner of Gmail, you can go directly to Contacts. In the tab that opens, you can check if the required recipients are in the list. All numbers can be imported using the Tasks function.

On iPad and iPhone, you can visit iCloud.com, where the password will be the password from the local account, and the login will be email. For iPad, you need to use the credentials that you use to sign in to the App Store.

Android: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or USB. Few people store important data in accounts, and access can be lost. In this case, you can try to synchronize your smartphone with your computer using debugging via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or USB.

The data stored in iPad and iPhone is contained in iTools in a backup format. It is very important to make these copies yourself before updating the system. It is in this case that all messages, notes, videos, photos and phone contacts will be saved in iTools virtual storage.

MyPhoneExplorer

Using this software, you can control a faulty device through a desktop computer or laptop. When connecting some models to a computer, recharging starts by default. To get around this when the sensor is not working or the screen is off, you need a file system from which you can copy by pressing the "F1" key. Next, open the phone book, images, and other important data.

OTG cable

You can extract contacts from a broken phone using an OTG cable. If the sensor is not working, you can try to establish control by connecting a regular mouse via an OTG cable.

With this method, the smartphone will not respond to finger touches, but to pressing the mouse button.

In order to restore and copy the SMS messages and the call log available on the device, applications such as "SMSBackup & Restore", as well as "CallLogsBackup" were invented. Using these programs, you can recover messages that have disappeared and, if necessary, create backup copies. But these programs are best used before the final breakdown of the phone.

To copy data from a smartphone, you can download a remote control program called "Androidscreencast" to your computer. To use the program, the device must be connected via a USB cable, and then try to save all the data stored in the smartphone. Next, I suggest you watch the following video "How to get contacts, photos and videos out of a broken phone."

Lack of synchronization

When the device is turned off and on cyclically, or if it is turned on, but the computer does not see it, you need to apply the advanced startup mode. So, you need to insert a microSD card, simultaneously hold down the volume up and power buttons, enter the “Systemrecovery” tab, select the “backupuserdata” line and then copy the data.

If the smartphone does not charge, does not turn on after being turned off, or if the phone turns off immediately when charging is turned off, you can try replacing the battery. Otherwise, a full diagnosis should be performed.

Also, the phone may work with significant failures due to a flashed firmware or an unlicensed update installed. With such a problem, there can be many options for the consequences and causes, so it is better to contact a specialized service center for an experienced master.

In some cases, the device can no longer be repaired, but it is extremely necessary to obtain data from it. The most radical, but effective way is to desolder the memory chip. This procedure is quite complex, which is performed using specialized equipment. To copy the required information, you need to install the extracted chip in a working phone.

All breakdowns of modern smartphones masters are conventionally divided into 2 groups:

1. Software failure. This may be a low-quality firmware or the device may be infected with a virus. Operation may fail, etc. At the same time, difficulties arise to independently pull out contacts from a broken phone.

2. Hardware failure: touchpad turned off, the phone sank or crashed, the display does not light up, the microcircuit fails.

With the problems that are in the first category, it is quite possible to cope on your own, and for this it is not necessary to have special device repair skills. To correct malfunctions from the second group, experience and knowledge will be needed. If the smartphone started to malfunction after drowning or falling, most likely the whole problem is in the hardware.

A screen that refuses to turn on raises more questions. It is quite difficult to understand what caused this breakdown: physical damage or software malfunctions. This can be identified through diagnostics. Many service centers work with a variety of types of damage and breakdowns of smartphones. To return the device to working capacity and find out the cause that led to its malfunction, experience will help, as well as the use of advanced equipment. The client can initially order diagnostics of his phone and then decide what to do: leave the phone to the master for repair or try to solve a certain problem on his own.
