Colpitis: symptoms and treatment

Colpitis disease develops due to endocrine and nervous imbalance in the female body, which affects the condition of the ovaries. Because of this, ovarian function is disrupted, as well as metabolism, which leads to excess weight. Further, the condition of the skin, nails and hair worsens, because the body lacks vitamins. In many ways, this resembles vitamin deficiency.

There are many ways to cure the disease, as medicine has developed greatly in recent years. But still - women prefer treatment with folk methods, however, it is better to be treated by a doctor, since there are several types of diseases and each of them needs to select different drugs.

What is colpitis?

The mucous membrane of the vagina can become inflamed for various reasons, which leads to colpitis. The main reasons: chronic diseases of the body, deterioration of ovarian function, temporary lack of personal hygiene, and so on. Colpitis may appear due to diseases of the internal organs or thermal, mechanical or chemical damage to the vagina. If the walls of the vagina are strongly lowered, the disease develops, but the girl can mistake the disease for an infection and start taking antibiotics, which will only aggravate the situation. Of course, measles, diphtheria and other infectious diseases provoke the appearance of colpitis, but it can also develop due to the illiterate use of antibiotics.

The main causative agents of the disease are microbes, mainly E. coli, staphylococci, mycoplasmas, proteus, gonococci, Trichomonas and so on. To accurately determine the cause of the onset of the disease, it is necessary to conduct a bacteriological and bacterioscopic examination of the fluid flowing from the vagina early in the morning. It is enough to make a regular smear to ascertain the presence of the disease.

Symptoms of colpitis are as follows: mucus and pus, strange pain in the lower abdomen, strange clear discharge from the vagina, and so on. In many ways, the symptoms depend on the state of the girl's immune system, age, the bacteria that caused the disease, and other factors. Trichomonas can affect the vagina and cause frothy and purulent discharge in large quantities, and the girl's health will deteriorate sharply - itching and burning of the vulva are very intense. If the disease develops due to a fungal infection, then discharges will appear that have a pronounced white color, in many ways they are similar to cottage cheese, for example, in consistency. Trichomonas and fungi provoke a terrible burning sensation from the outside and inside of the vagina.

Symptoms of colpitis

Despite the fact that completely different factors and bacteria can cause vaginitis, you can notice colpitis by a huge number of symptoms. The first thing a girl notices is discharge, and in a very large amount. Any discharge from the genitals indicates the presence of the disease, as a rule, they have a terrible smell and a strange color, for example, greenish, yellow or white. The smell from the discharge is very strong, usually reminiscent of fish, but not as pronounced as with ordinary vaginosis. Vaginal discharge becomes more abundant over time, its consistency changes, it can be thick or gel-like.

The second symptom is burning, itching, irritation, fever and pressure in the genitals. At first, these symptoms are ignored, as they quickly pass, but after the transition of the disease to a chronic form, they become stable. But girls wait a long time and do not go to the doctor until the disease begins to interfere with sexual life. The fact is that the pain during intercourse is felt very intense, so its duration is reduced, and it is almost impossible to get pleasure. It is also extremely embarrassing in front of a partner, because regardless of taking a shower, there will be an unpleasant smell, so it is necessary to be treated. In addition, spotting may appear after intercourse, of course, this is very rare, but still you should not forget about it.

The third symptom is pain when urinating. Most often, they appear due to improper treatment of cystitis, which causes inflammation of the bladder. This is due to the fact that girls often self-medicate and do not go to the doctor.

But even if there are symptoms that relate specifically to colpitis, and not to vaginitis, it is difficult to ascertain the presence of the disease due to the fact that there are many forms of bacterial vaginitis. For example, if the vaginitis is gonorrheal and the genitals have been affected by the gonorrhea pathogen, there may be a thick, white-yellow, cream-like discharge that has a disgusting fishy odor. If Trichomonas hit the genitals, then yellow-green discharge with foam will appear, and the girl will feel terrible discomfort in the lower abdomen. There is also coccal vaginitis, which is characterized by profuse yellow-white discharge that has a disgusting odor. If the vaginal mucosa is affected by a fungus, then you can notice a curdled discharge resembling white flakes.

Abundant secretions of a transparent color are more often inherent in gardnerella vaginitis, and the disease often occurs in an acute form with pronounced symptoms. There may be not only symptoms that relate to the genitals, but also pain throughout the body or increased fatigue. Body temperature may increase, burning and itching appear in the inner part of the genital organs, weakness, pain in the bladder and kidneys, and so on. There is redness and swelling of the external genital organs, as well as a terrible purulent plaque. Since the girl experiences severe pain during intercourse during this disease, it is impossible to have sex, first you need to undergo complex treatment. But due to the fact that treatment is often delayed, the disease becomes chronic, so such symptoms are extremely rare. The main danger lies in the fact that after many months and years, such a condition may return to normal, so there will be complications during pregnancy. The main symptoms in the chronic form are pronounced after menstruation.

Causes of colpitis

The main reason is the entry of infectious agents into the inner or outer part of the vagina. Microorganisms that are contained in the microflora of the vagina can also affect the occurrence of the disease. Staphylococci, Escherichia, Proteus, Streptococcus, Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli, fungi, and so on can affect the development of inflammation. During a medical examination and testing, several pathogens are often detected at once, but sometimes they occur separately, which facilitates treatment. But in a healthy body, they do not survive, since the positive microflora of the vagina displaces the negative one, because it consists of many bacteria.

As a rule, the growth of negative and pathogenic microflora is accompanied by the presence of diseases of internal organs, which worsen general well-being and reduce immunity. Because of this, other female diseases appear, for example, inflammation in the fallopian tubes, uterus and ovaries. Often, mechanical and chemical damage to the vagina affects colpitis, and taking antibiotics in large quantities can destroy the microflora and provoke the disease. Also, the disease appears due to the lack of personal hygiene for a long time.

Colpitis can appear due to disruptions in the hormonal system, as well as endocrine diseases. With diabetes, the risk of the disease increases, in addition, there is an allergy to contraceptive drugs. Most sexually transmitted diseases provoke the appearance of colpitis or exacerbate it. These include microplamosis, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, ureaplasmosis, gonorrhea, and so on. If a girl uses such an unsafe method of contraception as an intrauterine device, then the chances of developing a disease increase significantly. Only women who have given birth can put in an IUD, but many violate this rule, so colpitis appears sooner or later.

In childhood, inflammation can begin due to the influence of pathogenic microflora, but the disease cannot become chronic. It appears due to an allergic reaction or getting into the genitals of any foreign object. In most cases, the risk of occurrence is increased due to a general infection in the body, so the disease is extremely acute. Of the symptoms, it is worth noting itching and burning in the genitals, as well as strange white discharge that has a terrible smell, reminiscent of fish.

In older women, the disease appears due to general hormonal changes in the body. The fact is that over time, the function of the ovaries deteriorates and fades away, so the epithelial membrane of the genital organs becomes thinner, which reduces the production of mucus. Due to the decrease in the elasticity of the vagina and dryness, microtraumas and severe inflammation appear. The main symptoms: itching and prolonged pain in the vagina, bloody and purulent discharge.

How to treat colpitis with pills and suppositories?

The main rules that must be observed in the treatment of the disease are as follows: getting rid of the causative agent of colpitis should be carried out first of all, while strengthening and restoring the microflora of the vagina. The causative agent can be viral, bacterial, fungal, and so on, depending on this, a therapeutic drug is selected. To restore the microflora, you need to strengthen the immune system, so sports, a competent diet, physiotherapy, medications, and so on are recommended.

Your diet should not contain smoked, spicy and salty foods, otherwise the disease will worsen. It is advisable to consume more dairy and sour-milk products, as well as fruits and vegetables. You also need to limit the number of sexual intercourses or exclude them, because during sex with insufficient lubrication and damaged vaginal walls, there will be pain, and the disease will only worsen from this. Wash your face every day and change your underwear. Keep in mind that a lot depends on hygiene, and in its absence, the disease may reappear.

If vaginitis is non-specific, combination drugs should be treated. The fact is that they effectively fight fungal and bacterial infections, and also relieve inflammation and itching. Most often, these drugs are suppositories or capsules, and they are used only topically. The most popular and effective among these drugs are Vokadin and Terzhinan.

Terzhinan has a very effective anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antifungal effect, but its main feature is that it cures Trichomonas vaginitis. Vaginal tablets are administered orally only after wetting in water, just put them in a glass of water for 30 seconds before use. To get rid of the disease, you need to administer a tablet for 12 hours for a week or ten days, as a rule, it is better to administer them at bedtime. If the disease has passed into the chronic stage, then the minimum treatment period is 2 weeks.

Vocadin is an equally effective drug that has a stronger effect. It is administered twice a day, and the treatment period is 5-7 days. If the disease has become chronic, then the tablets should be taken once every 24 hours. A complete cure for the disease can be observed in a month.

Do not take these drugs without consulting a doctor, as it all depends on the type of infection and bacteria. If the form of the disease is candidal, then Ketoconazole, Fluconazole, Clindamycin are prescribed. If the disease is gonorrheal, then antibiotics are needed, such as Tetracycline, Ceftriaxone, Cefixime, and so on. With the trichomonas form of the disease, Metronidazole and other antibiotics are recommended. Do not forget that if you have a regular partner, then there is a very high risk that you have become infected from him or that you can pass the disease on to him. In no case do not hide this and be sure to be examined by a doctor, especially if it is microplamosis or chlamydia.

If you choose antibiotic treatment, then talk to your doctor about how to restore the microflora of the vagina. He will tell you the optimal diet and supplements that will quickly replenish the microflora with beneficial bacteria. The most popular drug is Linex, it is used three times a day after meals. Quick results can be obtained with Bifidumbacterin, as it is sold in the form of vaginal suppositories.

Treatment of colpitis at home

It is advisable to immediately start treatment with a doctor when the first symptoms appear, but if you want to be cured without antibiotics, you can try the most effective folk remedies for colpitis.

A mixture of St. John's wort and calendula flowers does an excellent job with vaginitis in the initial stages. Take 40 grams of dried flowers and mix, and then pour half a liter of boiling water. Use a decoction for douching in the morning and before bed.

Inside, you can take a decoction of centaury and sweet clover herbs. Mix them in equal proportions and add 200 milliliters of boiling water. Take the medicine twice a day for 100 milliliters.

Prevention of colpitis

You can reduce the risk of infection in the following ways:
  1. Carry condoms with you to protect yourself when you are not sure about your partner.

  2. Find out which products you are allergic to. Many contraceptive preparations contain allergens that can have an extremely negative effect on the genitals.

  3. Be hygienic and buy a special washing gel, as a rule, it does not contain allergens and does not cause irritation.

  4. Go to the gynecologist more often, and especially if you have even the slightest symptoms and discomfort. Vaginitis is easier to treat in the early stages of the disease.
