Possessing a lot of positive properties, having a general strengthening and healing effect on the body, such a drink often becomes a reliable ally in the fight against many diseases. Currant leaves, both fresh and dried, are rich in vitamin C, contain minerals, tannins, antioxidants, and therefore their benefits are no less valuable for the body than from the berries themselves.

A decoction based on them has a strengthening effect on the cardiovascular system, stimulates the gastrointestinal tract, increases body tone, reduces blood pressure, maintains brain activity, and helps with atherosclerosis. Infusions can be used externally for the treatment of skin diseases (eczema, dermatitis).

Having a calming effect, infusions and decoctions based on the leaves and fruits of this plant, with regular use, strengthen the nervous system.

The presence of phytoncides in the leaves allows them to be effectively used in the treatment of diseases of the upper respiratory tract.

Due to some diuretic effect, the plant is also widely used for the preparation of decoctions and infusions, indicated for pyelonephritis and edema.

Like any folk remedy, currant leaf can bring not only benefits, but also harm. Since it is no less rich in nutrients than the fruits of a shrub, it is also contraindicated in the presence of diseases such as:

  • stomach ulcer, gastritis, hepatitis;

  • increased acidity;
  • pregnancy;
