How to quickly get rid of dry corns on the legs

Who among us does not know what a corn is? Calluses can be dry, water, rod or in the form of corns. Callus occurs due to prolonged friction of the skin in the same place. Calluses can appear on the hands after exercises on the horizontal bar, on the elbows with regular sitting at the desk. However, most often corns appear on the legs.

The first stage of callus development is watery. After a short rubbing on the skin, a blister may develop, which fills with fluid. It is very important to prevent the development of corns and the ingress of blood into it. If the friction is constant and regular, dry callus or corns may appear in place of the watery callus. Sometimes the corn has a rod that penetrates deep into the tissues. When walking, the rod causes discomfort, a person feels pain. If the rod has penetrated so deeply that it touches a nerve, the pain becomes unbearable. But why do corns appear?

Reasons for the formation of dry corns

Strong and short friction leads to the appearance of watery calluses. And if the skin is subjected to moderate but constant pressure, an accumulation of dead tissue forms on it in the form of dry callus. This is due to the deterioration of blood circulation in the designated area. Excessive pressure on the foot and fingers in certain places can occur for various reasons.

  1. Corns appear as a result of wearing narrow and hard shoes. Often calluses appear after wearing new shoes that have not yet “sat down” on the leg. Over time, as the material softens and takes on the shape of your foot, the callus problems will disappear. And if you are putting on new shoes for the first time, do not forget about the plaster - it will protect the skin of the feet.
  2. Calluses on the feet appear after the frequent wearing of uncomfortable shoes with heels. When buying, it is very important not only to try on shoes, but also to walk around the store in them. You should feel comfortable in them. The boot should be as comfortable as possible.
  3. If there are seams inside the shoes, shreds of leather, rough joints, this can cause excessive friction on the skin. Keep this in mind when shopping for shoes.
  4. Often, corns on the sole are formed in obese people who are significantly overweight. The fact is that the skin experiences increased pressure, which leads to the appearance of corns.
  5. Calluses of any type can occur due to flat feet, foot injuries and other orthopedic diseases.
  6. Often the skin becomes covered with corns and calluses if it is not elastic enough. If the body is deficient in vitamin A, it affects the skin of the feet and hands.
  7. The skin is prone to keratinization if the dead layer of the epidermis is not removed in time. You need to regularly do pedicures and clean the skin of the feet with a pumice stone. This will prevent the formation of corns and dry calluses.
  8. Calluses are common in psoriasis and diabetes.
  9. Calluses can occur in athletes and people whose profession is associated with the constant wearing of weights. Prolonged exercise contributes to excessive friction and the growth of dead tissue.

When a callus occurs, the irritating factor must first be eliminated. Take off your shoes and, if possible, change them to a more comfortable one. Treatment of water callus involves disinfection of the surface. Treat the corn with hydrogen peroxide or any other antiseptic. Then cover the corn with a plaster if you need to put on shoes again. If you are already at home, leave the wound to dry.

Often people wonder if it is necessary to open the water callus? Of course, if the corn is opened, the healing process will go much faster. However, the risk of wound infection is high. If you open the corn, you need to do this with sterile instruments (the needle must be treated with alcohol).

Treatment of callus is quite complicated and is usually carried out in medical institutions. Modern techniques allow you to burn the corn stem with a laser or liquid nitrogen. At home, the callus is steamed, the keratinized layer is removed, and the core is burned with table vinegar. Here you need to be as careful as possible so as not to burn the skin. After that, the skin is lubricated with any cosmetic softening oil or vitamin A from the ampoule, a bandage is applied. Usually the procedure is done before going to bed to eliminate the load on the legs after the "surgery".

For any inflammatory processes, suppuration, redness and swelling, you need to consult a doctor with a problem, and not self-medicate.

How to get rid of dry corns on the feet

Treatment of dry corns should take place according to a certain algorithm.

  1. First you need to steam your feet with hot water. Use water as hot as you can stand. Hot water softens rough dead tissue, which will be easier to remove. You can steam your legs in mustard with the addition of tea tree oil. Steaming the legs in a decoction of medicinal herbs will also give an antiseptic effect.
  2. After a long steaming (at least half an hour), clean the skin of the feet with a pumice stone. Shaving is not recommended. You can cut off a living area of skin, which will lead to pain and discomfort. In addition, any careless movement can lead to an open wound. As you know, cuts on the feet heal much more slowly, so there is no need to put yourself at risk.
  3. After cleansing the feet of keratinized skin, you need to lubricate the legs with a moisturizer. You can use children's cosmetics or pharmaceutical healing ointments. Castor oil is very good at moisturizing the feet.
  4. After treatment with the selected product, wrap your legs with a film so that the cream or ointment does not absorb into the socks, but acts as intended. Put on your socks and go to bed. During the night, the legs will become soft, like a baby's.

Homemade recipes will help your legs look perfect.

  1. Vinegar. Daily steaming in acetic water has a very good effect on the skin of the feet. Add a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to the water, and then lubricate the legs with salicylic ointment. A week of daily steaming and there will be no trace of corns.
  2. Propolis not only softens the skin, but also disinfects the surface. To get rid of dry corns or corns, you need to apply a softened piece of propolis to the keratinized layer of the skin. Boil the propolis in a small amount of water, and when it softens a little, apply it to the corn. Fix and leave for several hours. At this time, walking is not recommended, so it is best to do a lotion at night. In the morning, gently scrape off the softened layer of dead epidermis and lubricate the feet with cream. Repeat the procedure every day until the corn is completely gone.
  3. Onions are successfully used in the fight against corns, corns and cracked heels. Take an onion and remove the middle layer from it. Inside the layer there will be a thin transparent film that needs to be removed. Attach the onion to the corn with the side from which the film was removed. This lotion softens the skin, heals the wound and disinfects the surface of the foot.
  4. Lemon. Citrus fruits contain certain phytoncides in their composition, which break down hard skin. Apply a piece of lemon to the corn and apply a bandage on top. Leave for a couple of hours, then carefully remove the softened layer.
  5. Potatoes, due to the huge content of starch, perfectly soften dry corns. Boil the potatoes and leave them in your broth. When the water cools slightly and becomes comfortable for the skin, dip your feet in the prepared broth. Knead the roots with your feet. This procedure will soften the skin of the feet. After that, remove the top layer of corns and grease the legs with cream.
  6. Herbs. A decoction of medicinal herbs will help get rid of dry corns in a few procedures. Calendula will disinfect the surface of the feet, chamomile will relieve inflammation, celandine will soften the epidermis, and coltsfoot promotes skin regeneration. Take three tablespoons of each of the herbs and place the plants in an enamel bowl. Pour the collection with three liters of boiling water and put on a slow fire. Boil for about half an hour, and then cover with a lid. When the broth has cooled slightly, but is still warm enough, dip your feet into it. Baths based on medicinal herbs should be long - at least an hour. Combine leg steaming with watching your favorite show. As the water cools, it must be diluted with hot broth. After three procedures, the skin will become much softer, and calluses can be easily removed.
  7. Figs, vinegar and honey. The preparation of this compress will not take much time. Mash ripe figs with a fork, add a teaspoon of fresh liquid honey and a tablespoon of vinegar to it. Mix the mixture thoroughly and apply it to the corn. Cover with a film on top and fix the compress. Do the procedure at night. In the morning, carefully remove the remnants of the product and remove the softened corn with manicure tools. With this recipe, you can get rid of dry corns in five procedures.

How to prevent corns

Calluses are not fatal or contagious. But sometimes a corn can ruin even the most beautiful evening. To avoid the appearance of corns, you need to follow a few preventive measures.

Do not buy narrow and small shoes, no matter how beautiful they are. You simply cannot wear it, why do you need this beauty in the closet? Choose shoes according to size, pay attention to the material from which the shoes are made - the leather should be soft and comfortable. If the chosen shoes turned out to be narrow, prepare them for going out. Wear them every day at home for several hours until X-day. If your shoes are too tight, wear them with socks to increase the width of the interior a little.

You can increase shoes by half a size with alcohol. Wipe the inside of the shoes with alcohol and put them on with a thick sock. Or fill a tight bag with water, dip the bag into your shoe, and place the entire structure in the freezer. As the water freezes, it expands and gently enlarges the shoe by half a size.

Pay attention to socks. They should be tight-fitting to the leg, no folds. It is better to choose socks made from natural materials that allow air to pass through. In synthetic socks, the foot sweats, which leads to unnecessary friction and the appearance of blisters.

If corns occur due to excess weight, take care of this problem. Eat more carrots and plums, which are high in vitamin A.

Corn is a temporary inconvenience that is easy to get rid of. Start treating corns immediately at the first sign of their appearance. And then your legs will shine with their elegance and perfection!
