Testing of the A4Tech Bloody line. Three mice with unique gaming features. Testing the A4Tech Bloody line Installing macros in ultra core 3

Gaming peripherals seem to have become a very profitable business, and companies specializing only in the gaming segment have also been joined by companies of a wider profile. These include Asus, Logitech and now A4Tech. She has already managed to release a series of gaming products called Bloody.

What is it?

A4Tech Bloody Terminator TL9 is a wired gaming mouse with an Avago A9800 laser sensor with a maximum resolution of 8200 DPI, Japanese Omron switches with durability up to 20 million clicks, 9 fully programmable buttons and a response time of "less than" 1 ms (according to the manufacturer).

The mouse uses metal legs with a durable and smooth surface Metal X "Glide Armor Boot, they promise wear resistance up to 300 km" run "(let's call it that). The proprietary software has a huge number of settings and allows you to configure the mouse completely for your own needs. Starting from different modes resolution and ending with recoil compensation in shooters and prescribing macros - all this is stored on the built-in memory of 160 KB.

What else is in it?

For connection, a non-removable 1.8-meter cable in a fabric winding is used. The mouse itself is covered in a "rubberized sweat-resistant coating" (according to the official information), and the buttons have a textured pattern. The mouse is asymmetrical and designed for use with the right hand, there are corresponding recesses for the fingers on the sides.

What's in the box?

The packaging is quite standard for gaming devices: it is of considerable size, the front part opens like a book, under it you can see the manipulator itself and a description of the software features. In addition to the mouse, we had a booklet with the entire Bloody product line, a card with the address for downloading branded software, and stickers with the Bloody logo in the kit.

What does the A4Tech Bloody Terminator TL9 look like?

The mouse is large enough, the frame is completely made of metal, on top of which there are plastic overlays. The upper part has a soft-touch coating, the side ones are made of rougher, rougher plastic. The wheel is rubberized and textured. Below is a two-position joystick button (forward, backward) and two more additional ones. As expected, there is a glowing logo, like all similar gadgets.

On the left side - a characteristic recess for the thumb and two additional buttons. The metal parts of the frame are visible in front and behind:

On the other side there are two recesses: for the ring finger and the little finger. They are located quite well and thoughtfully. Slots in the frame on both sides are highlighted (for greater effect, apparently):

The lower part is made entirely of metal, both the bottom and the legs. Everything fits very sensibly and the dust does not clog anywhere (as happens with many mice):

You can see the Terminator TL9 in more detail in the gallery below:

How convenient?

The buttons are pressed easily and are moderately noisy: there is no rumble in the whole apartment and the user will not interfere with his family (if any). The scroll wheel is quite soft and makes almost no sound. Due to the design, length (123 mm) and the recesses provided for the fingers on the side panels, it is most convenient to use the "palm" grip. Side additional buttons are located well and are pressed easily. It is quite difficult to get to the top joystick and additional buttons: the gap between their unit and the scroll wheel is quite large, but these buttons are used mainly to change the shooting mode and this moment is not so critical.

Metal legs, as promised by the manufacturer, glide very well on the surface. When using the mouse on the table, they glide so well that with a minimal tilt, the mouse starts to move along the surface without any user effort. I really liked it, although it is a very individual moment. As an option to increase the coefficient of friction - the use of a playing surface (popularly - "mat"). The mouse weighs 150 g, slippery metal legs allow you to move the mouse with the minimum of effort. Personally, I would like a little more weight: the rodent flies too easily and sweepingly on the surface of the table.

What can A4Tech Bloody Terminator TL9 do?

Of course, the mouse works without any problems immediately when connected to a PC, but one of the features of this mouse is precisely the setting for your needs. Bloody5 can be downloaded from the official site, there are both free and paid, more functional versions. The software does not look very "friendly". The interface is translated into Russian very clumsily and partially, although basic knowledge of the English language is quite enough for use. At the top there are 8 tabs that are not always active (depending on the selected mode). On the main page there is a choice of modes, switching between which takes some time:

There are only four modes, the first two of which are free, to activate the rest you need to pay $20 extra (or buy the Activated version of the mouse, it is about UAH 70 more expensive than the usual one, which is more profitable than paying $20 at the current exchange rate). The last two modes are available in a trial version (1000 clicks), which allows you to determine their need. Modes are designed for different game genres:

  • Core 1- a mode for strategies and FPS and office use. All additional buttons become inactive
  • Core 2- a mode for FPS with the ability to configure burst shots at the touch of a button. By default, additional button 1 is responsible for one shot, add. button n - double shot, 3 - triple and 4 - four shots in a row
  • Ultra Core 3– mode for FPS with macro settings, recoil compensation and trajectory settings. Downloaded or custom scripts are required to use this module
  • Ultra Core 4– mode for MMO games with a Combo panel that allows you to create action sequences

First, let's look at the tabs common to all modes. Button is responsible for assigning functions to buttons:

In the Sensitivity tab, the response speed is set in the range from 1 to 18 ms, the sensor resolution is from 100 to 8200 DPI (in this case called CPI) in steps of 100, and the USB connection polling rate is from 125 MHz to 1000 MHz. You can configure up to 5 DPI modes, which switch in a rather inconvenient way: the joystick button leans forward for 3 seconds, after which the desired value is selected with the wheel. Saved by the same joystick.

The Guard tab was created exclusively for wireless mice, in this case it is not needed:

When you turn on the Core 2, the Guns tab becomes active, where you can configure one-click burst fire modes and sniper mode:

In Ultra Core 3 mode, 2 more tabs appear, the first one is Macro, for setting up macros. Here it’s already worth climbing into the instructions: this tab is absolutely not visual and it will not be easy to figure it out yourself quickly:

And the Healshot tab. She is responsible for setting the recoil compensation, there is a list with games and a table that indicates the type of shooting, weapons, button selection, monitor resolution and sensitivity value. The Headshot button opens a menu with settings for any weapon:

In Ultra Core 4 mode, instead of Headshot, the Combo tab is active, where you can configure the sequence of actions that will be performed by clicking once, cyclically while holding the button, or by pressing it once, up to the second one:

In practice, the rodent proved to be very convincing: it was tested on Starcraft 2, Battlefield 3, Watch Dogs and Wolfenstein: The New Order. Due to the short response time and the wide range of possible DPI values, no questions arose in any of the games. The assignment of the buttons works as expected, after some dancing I tried the Trial versions of Ultra Core 3 and 4: there is nothing special to say about the benefits and use of macros, this function is not something special. More interested in the recoil compensation function. After a lot of googling and manipulation, some results have been achieved. With proper settings, the function really works and helps to significantly increase the accuracy in shooters.

With regard to conventional applications, everything is familiar and convenient. There are no special features, I was comfortable working with office applications, graphic editors and a browser at a resolution of 1200 DPI. The downside is that there is no separate button for quickly switching the DPI value: you need to perform the manipulations that are described a little earlier in this section.

In the dry matter

Ergonomically, I liked the A4Tech Bloody Terminator TL9. There is no discomfort during prolonged use. Very slippery feet plus a high-resolution and customizable sensor allows you to customize the mouse for almost any user and for any need. Proprietary software has a very wide range of customization options, some of which will be more useful only to particularly sensitive gamers. For most average users, the free version will suffice. By itself, the Bloody5 interface is made rather "clumsily" and not too user friendly, as they say. Also, a separate DPI switch button would not hurt. The mouse is not for sale yet, although I dare to assume that it will cost about UAH 550 (the version with activated software will cost UAH 80 more). There are a lot of different options in this price range, the closest in terms of characteristics are other A4Tech Bloody models. Some models of the more popular Razer and SteelSeries fit into the same amount, although there is no talk of such a sensor and customization options.

4 reasons to buy A4Tech Bloody Terminator TL9:

  • Convenient design;
  • high-resolution laser sensor that works on almost any surface;
  • wide customization options using proprietary software;
  • slippery and durable metal feet.

2 reasons not to buy A4Tech Bloody Terminator TL9:

  • Lack of a separate DPI switch button;
  • inconvenient Bloody5 software;

The saturated domestic market for gaming peripherals has recently welcomed a new player. Under the "bloody" brand Bloody, it was invaded by a well-known manufacturer of accessories, the company A4Tech. GAMETECH's attention was drawn to the Bloody ZL5 mouse, designed for the most accurate fighters on the virtual front.

Design

It’s boring to talk about the Bloody ZL5 bundle: it consists of accompanying papers and a sticker.

So let's move on to design.

The appearance of the Bloody ZL5 evokes memories of - the layout of the main body parts is almost the same. The top panel is made of rubberized plastic, pleasant to the touch and does not collect fingerprints. Between its two halves is a small glossy circle where a bloody palm print flickers - the brand logo. Depending on the settings, it may turn green or yellow.

The left mouse button is slightly wider than the right, but the right one is slightly longer than the left. Between them is a wheel with a rubberized rim. Horizontal scrolling is not declared for it, but in the test sample, when deviating to the right, a left-click was triggered.

The wheel is highlighted in different colors depending on the active mode of the left button (we will describe this in more detail in the next section). Under the wheel are three small buttons. The top pair just switches the modes of the left key, and the third button cycles through the DPI.

On the left side there is a decent set of thumb keys. The forward-back pair for navigation has been replaced by a lever for the aforementioned left-key mode adjustment. Moreover, the navigation buttons had to be deployed altogether. Next to them is the "sniper" mode key, when pressed, the sensitivity sharply decreases.

The side panels of the mouse have slanted slots that add some variety to the design. No controls were found on the right side.

At first glance, it may seem that the base of the mouse is an aluminum part. But upon closer acquaintance, it becomes clear that we have a disguised plastic in front of us. A red glow breaks through the slots in the "stern" of the manipulator.

Metal in Bloody ZL5, oddly enough, are the legs. They provide a comfortable level of traction that varies slightly depending on the surface.

The Bloody ZL5 mouse turned out to be quite nice. However, the positioning of some controls can have a negative impact on usability. These sacrifices were made for the sake of quickly switching weapon settings (left button mode).

Software and "four-core" system

Bloody proprietary software is downloaded from the link indicated on a separate card in the package. Install the utility through the inconsistent installer:

We open the main page and see the golden Ultra Core icons. Hover the mouse over one of them and ... we get an offer to buy! Next to the button "Buy an activation code", go.

It turns out that to fully unlock the Bloody ZL5 feature list, you need to shell out $13. And this is still a generous offer - next to it, the amount of as much as $ 30 is crossed out. The generous A4Tech, fortunately, offers a demo of access to these paid features (for a whole thousand clicks), so that we can figure out what, in fact, the paid "kernels" of Ultra Core 3 and 4 are.

Ultra Core 3 is handy for "hard FPS games". Judging by the description and the settings screen, it allows you to automatically eliminate sight shift when firing. Not only the need to fork out, but also the difficulty of using the “ultra-core”, described in a separate 13-page manual, can become a hindrance for cheaters. And rightly so.

Ultra Core 4 is designed for MMOs and offers advanced macro editor options. Probably a little more intuitive - the manual is only 10 pages long.

In general, the next tab contains the usual macro editor, somewhat more overloaded and, perhaps, less convenient. But it is also available only in the paid Ultra Core 3 and 4 modes. And for free, only macros from the standard set, which mainly includes combinations from Counter-Strike, can be assigned to keys.

So, we figured out the paid functionality of Bloody. It works in the same way, by the way, with other mice of the manufacturer. Now let's talk about the quick switching of weapon settings. This setting is expressed as the number of clicks (shots) that occur per press of the left button. The side slider toggles this value between "1" and "n" (default 2). The buttons below the wheel include triple and quadruple presses.

The indicator of the active number of shots and the sensitivity level is located in a small window. In the corresponding tab of the utility, the value for the "sniper" mode is set (from 50 to 800 in increments of 50 dpi). Quick switching of weapon settings is included in the Ultra Core 2 feature set, also a free mode. In addition to it, there is also a basic Ultra Core 1. There are no add-ons here, but the manufacturer claims that thanks to this, the mouse works the fastest.

What else is included in the free list of Bloody options? Up to five sensitivity levels (from 100 to 8200 in 100 dpi steps). Ability to calibrate sensors and change the polling frequency. As well as setting custom commands to all buttons, except for the lever on the left side. All mouse settings are stored in the internal memory.

Usage

The need for additional placement of four weapon settings switches required a change in the usual arrangement of buttons. In some cases, these changes are reversible: buttons "3" and "4" can be assigned to switch sensitivity, as is organized in many other mice.

But in some cases you can't do anything. The lever on the left is fixed to switch weapon settings, and if you do not use this option, there will be no sense in it. The vertical thumb buttons take some getting used to. True, in the end they turn out to be more convenient than the “sniper” mode button, since the latter is slightly recessed into the body and you won’t press it quickly. The lack of a DPI indicator can also be attributed to the disadvantages of the mouse.

The software is not very user-friendly. Due to the fact that all the points are translated into Russian by machine without verification, it can be difficult to understand what is happening at all. Fortunately, the utility provides links to detailed instructions for "ultrakernels". Although they are written in English, they are much easier to understand than the tips in the program itself.

The appearance of paid functionality in gaming mice surprised us, to put it mildly. But we have to admit that Ultra Core 3 provides an original set of functions that we have not yet seen from competitors. Although from an ethical point of view it is, of course, impossible to approve it. And in Ultra Core 4, in principle, it was simply made paid for what was provided by default in the software of other mice.

Unconditionally, we can attribute the materials used to the positive aspects of the Bloody ZL5. Rubberized plastic is more convenient and neater than the classic "soft touch". The use of metal plates instead of Teflon pads also fully justifies itself.

Diagnosis

The Bloody ZL5 mouse turned out to be one of the most interesting devices that have been in our Toolkit. A4Tech dared to experiment: they developed original software and redesigned the mouse for it. If you do not practice fair multiplayer, then the novelty will be a godsend for you (until banned on the server). Otherwise, the Bloody ZL5 has few competitive advantages.

The average price of the Bloody ZL5 at the time of this writing is about 1400 rubles, which, taking into account the factors described above, can be attributed to the advantages of the mouse.

  • Excellent combination of materials
  • Original extended functionality

Contra:

  • Free functionality is somewhat limited compared to the competition
  • Inconvenient implementation of the "sniper" mode button
  • No DPI indicator
  • The software is not easy to learn (largely due to poor translation)

In the section on the question Bloody v3 - setting and questions asked by the author Firewolf Xs the best answer is 1) Third core activation, button 3 (yellow LED)
You can activate it with a crack.
2) Switching macros on the fly. Each button has a separate macro.
3) On the Sensitivity tab
4) The macro editor on the Oscar Macro tab, where you can upload ready-made macros and assign them to buttons.
Radiant Star
(77943)
1) You can, the mouse is fully programmable.
Sens can be assigned either to a separate key, or quickly click on button 1 and adjust the wheel, at this moment the wheel itself will flicker.
2) On the Ultra Core tab, if it says that the 3rd core is activated and it can be configured from there, then it is unnecessary to activate, well, it seems logical)
3) Macro editor. Create, edit, fill, jump, etc.

Answer from Alex 129[guru]
1) Automatic recoil suppression function. Normal macro. You can get a ban. The function is more of a marketing character. The function is paid, you need to buy more. In the drivers for the mouse, which have settings, you will find how to buy
2) Programmable buttons. In the drivers, you can set them to either switch sensitivity or macros.
