  1. Using the service of the user's personal account on the site.
  2. By contacting the nearest showroom of the company.
  3. By calling the customer support service at 08-90.
  4. By dialing a direct request from the phone keypad - *740# (activation) or *740*0# (deactivation).
  5. Sending an SMS message to the short number 740 with the content - "a" or "A" (activation) and "r" or "R" (deactivation).

How to disable the "Toning" service on MTS

The option allows you to personalize the call to the subscriber by replacing the beeps with original melodies or individual voice recordings. Also, the client can set subscriber lists for favorite tunes or create a schedule for playing records. This service is automatically added to customers upon activation of new tariff packages and is valid free of charge only for 30 days from the moment of connection.

Activation and deactivation of the option is available in the following ways:

  1. By calling the paid number of the voice menu of services 300 (180 rubles per minute), to disable, select "7".
  2. By sending a direct paid request *300# (60 rubles), to disable, select "5".
  3. By sending a paid SMS message to the short number 300 or 302 (228 rubles), to disable, send a message with the content "Off".

In today's material we will talk about the second Belarusian operator - MTS. As it turned out, the company's arsenal of services imposed on subscribers is no less than that of its main competitor.

Part one, background

"Toning" and "Melodies of the Day"

Let's pay tribute to MTS marketers - information about the music service, which is automatically activated when connected to the operator, the company does not hide as carefully as velcom. You can find it in the full description of a particular tariff:

“Services Subscription fee for the service “TONING” and Subscription fee “Melodies of the Day” are added to the list of services of subscribers automatically when concluding a contract. At the same time, in the first 30 calendar days, the subscription fee for the “TONING” service and the subscription fee for the “Melody of the Day” are not charged. After 30 days from the date of connection, the subscription fee for the TONING and Melodies of the Day services is debited in full.

As you can see, the conditions are the same - the first 30 days are free, then money is automatically debited for songs and dances that sound instead of beeps. It is curious that in MTS, in general, they decided to divide one service into two. "Toning" allows you to replace long beeps with any sound signal, and "Melodies of the day" is a melody directly that the operator plays to the caller.

For each service, a subscription fee of 3,600 rubles is provided, that is, in general, you will have to overpay 7,200 rubles. Slightly less than for "Melofon" from velcom. However, if you have connected to Easy to Say with a subscription fee of 3,000 rubles, do not be surprised that the real costs will exceed this amount by at least three times! An unpleasant surprise for retired parents.

We are looking for painless ways to disable both services. It won’t work through the “Internet Assistant”: both services are on the list, but there is simply no button to deactivate them.

As it turned out, you can disconnect from Toning and Melodies of the Day for a fee and for free. The second method is less convenient and is only suitable for owners of Android devices. You need to send a USSD request *711#, after which you will receive an SMS with a link to the application. You will have to install it and look for the desired option in the wilds of settings.

You will have to pay a little for a human shutdown of services. For refusal via SMS, 228 rubles will be deducted from your account. But you can try to use a less expensive method of refusing imposed services. We dial *302#call, say goodbye to 60 rubles and, perhaps, rejoice at turning off Toning. "Melodies of the day" without it will also not work.

Here, however, one problem may await you. For example, when I tried to unsubscribe two "sim cards" from a dubious service using USSD, for two days I was met with the following message about an unknown error:

I had to use SMS. We send the word “off” to number 302. 228 rubles will be debited from the account, but you can forget about “Toning” and “Melodies of the Day”.

"Stay in touch"

Fuuh, with beeps somehow sorted out. Next in line is the "Be in the know" service, an analogue of "What's new" from velcom. If it is connected, then during the day “spam” will appear on the screen of your smartphone with an offer to read the news or download a song for money. Any careless clicking on OK will result in debiting money from the account. It can be either a thousand rubles, or ten thousand at a time.

Moreover, "Be in the know" threatens not only with one-time payments for jokes, music and news, but also with whole subscriptions! In the latter case, a certain amount (usually about 1,500 rubles) will be debited from the subscriber's account daily for a certain period.

We did not find any pitfalls when disabling this service. Yes, it is also not in CCIS, but the USSD request *987*0#call comes to the rescue. This time there were no mistakes - two numbers were saved from the intrusive service at once.

After that, you will not be bothered with advertising, which seems to be waiting for an inattentive subscriber. In order to finally and irrevocably protect yourself from spam from MTS, we also advise you to find and activate a service called “Technological: Refusal from SMS mailing and voice advertising” in the “Personal Assistant”.

With the automatic connection of this service, MTS is late compared to velcom. It has been valid for only two years, but many users are not even aware of its existence.

You can disable or configure the conditions for triggering voice mail in the "Personal Account" via the Internet. Go to the "Services" tab, click on "Call Forwarding" and on the right side of the screen either turn off call forwarding or open a menu with forwarding conditions.

We completely get rid of any redirection of anything anywhere with the help of the ##002#call command.

Credit payment method

For some subscribers, the ability to pay the operator on the fact of the funds spent is a blessing, if only to always stay in touch. Others fear that they will fall into a big minus, which they will not even warn about.

If you have been transferred to a credit method of service, but you want to switch to the good old prepayment with less risks, it's time to pick up the phone and dial *150*0#call. No visits to the operator's salon are necessary, only one USSD request solves the problem.

Last time we didn't mention a similar example in the article about velcom. Fixing it! You can refuse to pay after the fact using the USSD request *145*9#call. We emphasize that in both cases you must have a positive balance on your account, otherwise nothing will come of it.

"Mood" and paid short numbers

We are talking about the “information and entertainment IVR portal” of MTS. The essence of the service is as follows: you call a certain phone number and get into a menu with jokes, tests and other slag, which is full on the Internet, moreover, for free. The operator will not want to amuse you for free, so you will have to pay 4,800 rubles for every minute of your stay on this IVR portal.

At first glance, it seems that there is nothing dangerous in the service. No one automatically connects you to it. But the fact is that to activate it, it is enough to dial any four digits (except for the first 0, 6 and 8) and press the call button. It is unlikely that there are many such cases, but, judging by the Onliner.by forum, people periodically subscribe themselves to various paid offers or “freeze” for several minutes in the “Mood”.

How can this happen? Yes, whatever! Accidental pressing of a push-button phone in your pocket, a “glitch” of a smartphone, pampering of small children, erroneous pressings of the elderly…

They say that the subscriber can somehow prohibit receiving and sending messages from / to paid short numbers. In Russia, for example, MTS has a free content ban service. We honestly searched the entire Belarusian website of the operator, but did not find such a service. The press service of MTS ignored the relevant issue. If there is a person in the comments who knows how to deal with adversity, we will definitely add instructions to this article.

Part two, practical

As in the case with other operators, the Onliner.by journalist visited the MTS communications salon. The following questions were sent to the company in advance:

  1. What additional services outside the tariff plan does the subscriber receive when connecting to MTS?
  2. For what purpose are new users automatically connected to the paid services "Toning" and "Melodies of the Day"?
  3. Does the operator inform the subscriber making the call that funds will be debited from his account for the message left on the voice mailbox?

Alas, it was not possible to promptly receive comments from the press service of the company.

In the MTS salon, we had to wait out a little hype - people are actively buying smartphones in installments. About thirty minutes later I go up to the girl and announce my intention to connect to the Easy to Say tariff plan. For parents. As in the case with velcom, I steadfastly refuse offers to look at tariffs with a larger Internet traffic package or advantageous calls. No, I need a plan with the lowest monthly fee.

The connection took no more than five minutes. What about informing about connecting additional services? Unfortunately, the employees of the operator's salon will not turn off "Be in the know", "Toning" and "Melodies of the day" for the new subscriber. But the girl, without reminders, immediately wrote USSD commands on the contract page to deactivate these services. Already good!

That's just that the refusal of "Toning" and "Melodies of the Day" with the help of USSD will be paid, they did not say in the cabin. Moreover, the *302#call command, as mentioned above, did not work. Neither with a new SIM card, nor with another, much older number, to which, for the sake of experiment, I had to connect the company's music services.

If we consider a regular personal account on the operator’s web resource, then in the list of existing services opposite the name of the “Toning” service there will not be the necessary link to disable it.

In the application "My MTS"

If you have installed on your phone, use it to disable unnecessary services. If you haven't installed this app yet, follow the steps below:
  1. Go to the Play Market online store if your mobile device operates on the Android operating system. If you have an iPhone or iPad, then go to the App Store.
  2. Use the search bar to find the app "My MTS».
  3. Install it on your mobile device by clicking the button "Install".
  4. Launch the application by clicking on its icon on the smartphone display.
  5. Go to the "Services" section by clicking the appropriate button on the main page of the application.
  6. Find the "Toning" service and move the switch to the left to turn it off.
  7. You will be prompted to confirm this action, confirm it.

After such actions, the service will be disabled, and you will receive a corresponding message. In the list of active services, its name should disappear.

By calling the operator

In the Republic of Belarus, the MTS operator also has its own customer support center. To disable services through the operator, follow the instructions below:

The specialist will deactivate the service from your number. To do this, you will need to dictate to the operator the passport data of the owner of the number. To contact the operator of the Republic of Belarus from any other phones, except for MTS, the number is +375-17-237-9898.

At the MTS service office

If the methods discussed above did not help you in deactivating the Toning service, contact the service office or MTS communication salon. The nearest offices can be found on the operator's website.
  1. Before visiting the office, take your passport and contract for communication services with you, if you have it.
  2. Ask the office specialist to disable the Toning service and present your passport. This operation is free of charge.
Within a few minutes, the service will be disabled, and a corresponding notification will be sent to your number. If the phone number is issued to another subscriber, issue a power of attorney from him, or invite him to the office to deactivate the service. Otherwise, no action will be taken by the specialists of the office with the number.

How to determine if a service is active

Before disabling the service in question, make sure that it is actually connected. There are several ways to do this:
  • Use the above in the active services section.
  • Go to the Toning service website and see the list of current services.
  • Order call detailing a few days in advance. The Toning service is provided with a subscription fee, so the list of expenses will display a charge for its operation.
  • The easiest way to determine: ask a friend to call your number. If a friend says that a melody is playing instead of beeps, then the service is working, and vice versa.

When you disable Toning, all options associated with it, such as Ringtones of the Day, will also be disabled.

Important: if the user has set a copying ban, it is impossible to connect this melody to his number.

To donate a track or a package of melodies, you need to go to the official website and use the "Gift" link in the "GOOD'OK catalogue" menu. The donor pays the cost of the selected music or package. To accept a gift, the recipient needs to enter the user's account or use one of the voice menu items of the 0550 portal. In subsequent months, the cost of the melody is paid by the recipient subscriber.
