Restore synchronization of Google calendars and Android smartphone. Application settings. Calendar on smartphone Android calendar not working

New Year - they say, a magical time when the fuss recedes, everyone feels like a little child and is waiting for a miracle.

When on December 31st, "at the end" of 2011, HTC unexpectedly released an operating system update for HTC Desire, I cherished hope for a miracle - a normal update to Android 2.3. Not that the difference between 2.2 and 2.3 is fundamental, but the integration of SIP-telephony into the system, got rid of clumsy, battery-hungry programs.

Alas, Santa Claus from HTC sucks, and instead of 2.3 on the device, Android 2.29.405 was metaerialized with incomprehensible advantages. But the synchronization of calendars with Google accounts is completely broken. Mail and contacts are synchronized, and calendars - no way...

Whatever I did: I demolished accounts and returned them back, turned on and off calendars, crawled through the nooks and crannies of Google Calendar online in search of some kind of tick ... I even thought about whether to roll back to the factory settings, ruining all the accumulated programs and tweaks.

The solution turned out to be simple, but not lying on the surface due to the non-obvious sequence of actions...

If your calendars between Android and Google Calendar (GMail account) have stopped syncing, do not rush to break anything.

Step 1: Remove unsynced calendars

1.1. Go to the "Calendar" application, press the "menu" button, select "More ..." in the drop-down list, and there - "Calendars".

1.2. Now press the menu button again. A menu will appear with the item "Delete calendars", select it. In the proposed list, check all the calendars and feel free to click "OK".
Don't be afraid, your precious online calendar won't be harmed in the slightest.

Step 2: Get the calendars back

If you didn't go anywhere, then on the screen of your smartphone there is now an empty list of calendars (on HTC, the "PC Sync" item will remain there). If for some reason you left the Calendar application, just repeat the steps from paragraph 1.1 above.

So, you probably already guessed...

2.1. To return the calendars, press the "menu" button, check all or only the necessary calendars and press "OK".

2.2. We start the synchronization of calendars and, lo and behold, all events are again on our Android.

Wishing you a Happy New Year 2012!

Gone are the days when switching between platforms was a long, complicated process that we all tried to avoid. Modern digital life has become much easier, now, thanks to the implementation of cloud storage systems and other useful tools that you can use everywhere, migration becomes easier.
Of course, one of the most popular transitions is from iOS to Android. We already showed you, so it's time to solve one more important point - the calendar!

Use Google
Do you want to import the calendar manually? Welcome, although it has become unnecessary in our time. You can take care of everything with the help of the cloud, which makes it very easy to transfer contacts from any iPhone, as well as a calendar.
1. On your iPhone, go to the "Settings" section;
2. Select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" (Mail, Contacts, Calendars);
3. Select your Google account (if available on your phone, if not, add);
4. Go to the "Calendars" section and switch the toggle switch to On. (On);
5. This solution will sync all calendars automatically. Ready!

How about iCloud?
Some of you may not even store your calendars directly on iPhone, instead they may be stored on iCloud. If so, you have to do some manual manipulation, but it's still simple:
1. Go to the "Settings" menu and select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" (Mail, Contacts, Calendars);
2. Select "Add Account" or sign in with your iCloud account;
3. Let your iPhone sync your local calendar files with iCloud;
4. On your computer's web browser, open www.icloud.com and sign in to your iCloud account.
5. Click the calendar icon to open the calendar interface;
6. In the left pane, click the "Share Calendar" button next to the calendar you want to export;
7. In the pop-up message that appears, check "Public Calendar". Copy the sharing URL that appears below;
8. In a new tab or browser window, paste the copied URL;
9. After pasting the new URL into the address bar of the browser, replace "webcal" with "http", press the Enter key to open the address;
10. Your web browser will download the file with a set of random characters as the filename. This file is a copy of your iCloud calendar entries;
11. Save the file to a folder convenient for you on your computer. For convenience, you can rename the file and add the .ics extension (for example, calendar.ics);
12. Open and log in to Google Calendar on a computer web browser;
13. On the left panel of the Google Calendar interface, click on the menu arrow on the right side, select "Other Calendars";
14. Select Import Calendar;
15. Select the exported calendar file that you downloaded from iCloud and renamed (if you did). You can also select the target Google calendar (if you have more than one) in the same dialog;
16. Click the Import button to upload the file. Once the import is complete, you should be able to see the imported entries in the calendar web interface. New recordings will also be synced to Android devices.
This method provides an easy way to transfer data from iCloud calendar to your Google account. However, this is a one-sided decision. You will not be able to sync iPhone and Android calendars, which means that if you add/delete entries in your iCloud calendar, the changes will not be reflected in Google calendar unless you repeat the export-import process again.

Third Party Applications
There are a huge number of apps that promise to transfer contacts between different platforms, and they will probably do it, but I remain a fan of only one. Let's get a look:

SmoothSync for Cloud Calendar
version: 1.8.9 (downloads: 234)

The second method works great if you plan to completely abandon the iPhone world and move to the Android world. But, if you're going to use iPhone and Android devices, you'd better get your hands on a method to sync calendars between two phones and other devices.

Luckily, there is the SmoothSync for Cloud Calendar app by Marten Hyde. It allows you to establish a connection between iPhone and Android for instant calendar synchronization from iPhone to Android, but not vice versa. You don't have to export, upload files or import anything using the web interfaces. Just install the application, set it up and everything will work the way you want.

You can download the app from the Google Play Store for $86.29. A reasonable price in my opinion for the smooth and seamless syncing of your iPhone calendar to Android devices.
To use the app, first set up your iCloud account on your iPhone and allow your calendar to be backed up in the cloud.

After that, launch SmoothSync on your Android device and sign in with your iCloud account on the app.
Then select the calendars in iCloud that you want to sync with your Android device's calendar. Once the connection is active and properly established, and as long as iCloud remains active on your iPhone, any changes you make to your iPhone calendar will be automatically reflected on your Android device.

Conclusion
We live in a fast paced world where transitioning to something new can be daunting due to the sheer amount of hassles and decisions that come with it, but today we've shown you that the process isn't all that difficult. In fact, many of us find that switching from one device to another has become a fairly easy process.
No excuses guys. Want to jump into the wonderful world of Android? Just do it! The process only takes a few minutes, during which you will have access to the calendar on your new Android smartphone.

How do I get my Android to give audio reminders for Google Calendar appointments?

If your calendar app doesn't provide these options (which makes me wonder since I've never found a device that has did not have reminder options), you can take a look at some available calendar-alarm fixes.

In the past, I've used Calendar Event Reminder, which lets you choose which calendars it should take care of, and even gives you more options for reminders: not only does it let you choose a sound, but you can also define how long it should hang out for. you and at what intervals (so that you never miss alerts because you were "briefly separated" from your device). In addition, you can set "snooze" to delay the signal for a certain amount of time. But other than your request, the app is not free.

The linked list contains some alternatives, some of which are free, but I can't say how well they work since I haven't used them. In the meantime, I switched to

    Is it possible to edit contacts in Outlook and sync them across all devices? Certainly! See the blog post about improvements to the People view in Outlook for iOS and Android.

    Are phone calendar events added to the Outlook app's calendar? For device calendar events to appear in your Outlook calendar, they must be added through an account that has been synced with Outlook. For example, if you are adding events to the iPhone calendar, you first need tohttps://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203521 sync them with iCloud account, and then add it to Outlook.

Checking Sync Settings

Make sure Calendar is enabled for your account:

    Go to section Calendar in the Outlook app and click the three lines in the top left corner.

    Under your accounts, select "Calendar".

    If your email address does not appear in the list, the Exchange ActiveSync service is not configured for it. You will have to remove and add the account again without specifying IMAP.

Verify that Outlook can access Contacts:

The steps depend on which device and operating system you are using. If you don't have an iOS or Samsung Android device, follow these general instructions:

    For iOS: Open Settings, scroll down the page, click Outlook > Contacts and turn on background app refresh.

    For Android: Open Options > Applications > Outlook and make sure the item Contacts selected.

    Then open the Outlook application, select Options, tap your account and press Synchronize contacts.

Troubleshoot calendar and contacts in the Outlook mobile app

Select Settings > Accounts > Exchange and tap an email address that isn't syncing.

Note: On different Android devices, the settings menu may differ from the screenshots in this article. Use the described steps as general guidelines.

Make sure that calendar sync included. Wait a moment and then check the calendar app on your device.

Note: If "IMAP" appears instead of "Exchange" or an error occurs during synchronization, you may have added your email account incorrectly. Delete your account (select More > Delete account).

Wait a few minutes, and then check the calendar on your device.

Checking Gmail App Permissions

Check if the Gmail app has access to your calendar and contacts.

    Expand the Android notification bar by swiping down from the top of the device screen.

    Select Failed to sync calendar and contacts.

    Note: If you don't see a sync error notification, then everything is fine!

    Gmail will ask for access. Click Allow and follow the instructions on the screen.

Note: IMAP and POP.

Checking application settings

Select Settings > Accounts > Exchange> your email address.

Note: If your account is using IMAP, you will need to remove it and add it back as an Exchange account.

Make sure that calendar sync included. Wait a bit and then check the calendar app.

If you don't see the calendar or your account is using IMAP, click More and select command Delete your account. In this case, go to the next step.

Re-adding an account

Add your email account again by choosing Exchange ActiveSync or Exchange.

For detailed instructions, see the tab for Samsung in the article Set up email in the Android Mail app.

Note: If you don't use a popular service (such as one provided by Microsoft, Google, or Yahoo), contact your email service provider to see if you can add email without using IMAP and POP.

If you have a tablet with a screen size larger than 10.1 inches (such as Surface Pro), you most likely have desktop version of Outlook. See Troubleshoot Mail and Calendar sync errors on Windows 10 and Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 FAQ.

Checking application settings

    Open the Outlook Mail app. Click the ellipsis at the bottom to open the menu. Click Options.

    Click Accounts and select the account you want to sync.

    Click Change mailbox sync settings. Check if the settings are correct.

    Specify as server eas.outlook.com if you have an Outlook.com account (for example, hotmail.com), or outlook.office365.com if you have an Office 365 for business account. See the article for instructions for all other accounts.

Removing and re-adding an account

    In Outlook Mail, open the menu and select Options > Accounts> your email account > Delete.

    Return to the accounts page and click Add account.

    Select the type of account you want to add.

    • Outlook.com- if your email address ends with @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com or @msn.com.

      Exchange- If you have an Office 365 for business account or your account supports Exchange ActiveSync.

      Another account- none of the above. An email account can be set up as IMAP or POP without calendar and contacts syncing.

Articles and Lifehacks

Not all users of this device know how to set up a calendar in android to make it as convenient, practical and useful as possible.

Some do not even know about the hidden features of their smartphone or tablet.

How to change calendar settings

The first step is to enter the Menu. Now find "Settings", go to them "General settings". A huge list of possible changes will open before your eyes.
  • If you don’t like (or don’t want) your android calendar to not display events that you yourself rejected, then check the box next to “Hide rejected”.
  • Sometimes there is a desire to find out what the current week is. Do not count yourself when it is possible to use the function in the calendar. Check the box next to "Show week number".
  • For everyone, the week starts on Monday, and you be original. Choose your start: Sunday, Monday or Saturday. Although there may be an option and regional settings by default.
  • How to make sure that search queries do not get in the way? Look for "Clear search history". After such cleaning, the entire query history will be empty.
  • Do you want all notifications to pop up on your screen? Click on "Notifications". So you will not forget about important events, because they will always be in front of your eyes.

    And a tick in front of "Pop-up notifications" will help your android remind you of the essentials most effectively.

  • Make your alerts more visible. Set ringtone.
  • Quick replies help you immediately respond to a particular notification.
  • Set the required time interval before the start of an important event. And then in an hour, in 3 or in a few minutes, your android will remind you, will not let you forget about an important event.

Setting up the time zone

First, decide on your main time zone so that the time is automatically set with the necessary difference in relation to other cities. Fix this belt in a special setting of the same name.

Then your time will be displayed in only one selected format.
