Uninstalling NVIDIA GeForce Experience. How to Completely Uninstall NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel Video Card Drivers

Does your disk space disappear after every driver update? Everything is fixable;) After installing the driver, you need to remove unnecessary trash that remained on the disk. It is not dangerous, do not be afraid, there will be no harm to the computer. We go to drive "C" or where you unpacked the archive. Here you need to delete the "NVIDIA" folder. These are installation files, you don't need them anymore. Then go to the folder with the driver itself. I have it C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation The "Installer2" folder contains old drivers that you no longer need. So you can freely delete the contents of the folder. That's all. Pretty simple and useful. After each updating of the driver the place vanishes on your disk? Everything is reparable ;) After installation of the driver you need to delete unnecessary stuff which remained on a disk. It isn't dangerous, be not afraid, harm to the computer won't be. We come on the disk "C" or where you unpacked archive. Here you need to remove the NVIDIA folder. These are adjusting files, they aren't necessary to you any more. Then we come into the folder with the driver. At me it is C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Installer2 In the Installer2 folder old drivers remain, which are already unnecessary you. So you can freely delete folder contents. That's all. Quite simply it is also useful.

Each of us, at some point, visits the desire to tidy up a little in our system, and I thought that fans of the Nvidia series of video cards would be useful to know how to free up a pretty decent amount of hard drive space.

If you have one or more NVIDIA graphics cards installed on your computer, you should be sure to update the drivers for it regularly by following the prompts in the GeForce Experience program. But did you know that with every new version of the driver you download and install, the temporary files needed to install the driver are left on your hard drive after installation?

But that is not all. GeForce Experience saves a library of files from all previous installations in case you want to roll back to a previous driver version. Each time you install a new version of the driver, the installation files will be added to the library. Last but not least, GeForce Experience always saves a copy of the automatically downloaded drivers in a separate directory.

If, like me, you use an SSD as your system drive, it becomes obvious that you are wasting several gigabytes of vital disk space to store outdated driver installation files!

So how do you get rid of junk files?

The answer is simple enough. All you have to do is delete them! Removing these files is a safe procedure and will not affect the performance of your graphics card in any way. Below is a detailed description of all actions to find and delete unnecessary files.

Step 1

First of all, you need to find out where the unnecessary files are located after installation. Typically, they can be found in the following path:
C:\ ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\Downloader\

You will see two system folders config, latest, file status.json don't touch them! And folders with a long character set that contain installation files. Feel free to delete all folders with character set, since these are installation files, and the current version is in latest.

Step 2

The second and last place where GeForce Experience puts files is in the driver library. You can find it at:
C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Installer2\

Just delete all files inside Installer2 directory, BUT do not delete the folder itself!

That's actually all. We were able to quickly and easily free up precious space on our system drive.

Remember, every time you install and update GeForce drivers, new files will be saved in the same directories. It will be useful to perform the above procedure for cleaning the disk from unnecessary files once every few months, and also when the system drive runs out of free space.

For modern Windows operating systems, it is often not necessary to install video card drivers separately, since they are already included in the system. This is especially true for users who do not want to install the numerous additional components that come with the driver.

If you are an avid gamer or just need some helper utilities, it is recommended to install updated versions of NVIDIA, AMD or Intel drivers to get performance improvements, stability and new features.

Sometimes you may run into problems after installing drivers. There is always a possibility that the new version may conflict with the installed game or some application using the driver will start to behave incorrectly.

That is why very often it may be necessary to completely remove the driver from the system. In most cases, removal by standard system tools helps out, however, in some cases, the driver removal process may not complete or be interrupted due to a failure, the cause of which is difficult to fix on your own. To do this, you can use our separate instructions.

In these cases, the third-party Display Driver Uninstaller will be useful to uninstall drivers for NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel graphics cards. The program is compatible with all the latest versions of Windows. The developer suggests running the utility in safe mode, but this is an optional condition. The user is asked if they want to boot in safe mode or not. If you answer yes, then make sure to save the progress of all changes, because the computer will immediately begin to automatically restart.

The program can also enable/disable automatic driver updates via Windows Update. You will receive information about this when you start the program.

All the main functions of the program are displayed on one screen. At the top, the user can select the graphics driver to be removed. This function is useful when you change your video card and want to remove all driver components installed in the system.

Display Driver Uninstaller supports three modes of operation:

  • Uninstall and reboot (highly recommended)
  • Uninstall without reboot (may lead to black screen issue)
  • Uninstall and shutdown (to install a new graphics card)

Several additional operations are also available: uninstall NVIDIA GeForce Experience and enable driver installation via Windows Update by default. In the "Options" window, you can enable the removal of 3DTV and Physx, as well as the removal of temporary folders C:\NVIDIA and C:\AMD, which are used when installing drivers

Before choosing any of the options, make sure you have downloaded the graphics card driver package from the manufacturer's website, you will need it after you have finished uninstalling the existing drivers.

If you select the “Delete and Reboot” option, you will notice that the system automatically reboots after a short period of uninstallation. If you don't choose to automatically install the driver, Windows will use a generic video card driver that can run at a lower resolution.

Note: The source code for the Display Driver Uninstaller application is available for inspection on GitHub.

Conclusion

Display Driver Uninstaller is a useful application for reliable and complete removal of drivers in cases where you encounter problems with their operation. The utility effectively performs its task, even if the driver does not work correctly or is not updated.

The program ensures that all traces of NVIDIA, AMD or Intel drivers are completely removed from the system.

For all its usefulness, NVIDIA GeForce Experience is not to the liking of all users. Everyone has their own reasons for this, but it all comes down to the fact that the program has to be deleted. It is necessary to figure out how to do this, and most importantly, what the refusal of this program is fraught with.

It’s worth talking right away about what will happen if you remove GeForce Experience. The list of factors that should be considered when deleting is difficult not to call it essential:

As a result, if the rejection of the above options suits you, you can proceed to uninstall the program.

Removal process

You can uninstall GeForce Experience in the following ways.

Method 1: Third party software

To remove both GF Experience, like any other programs, you can use all sorts of third-party programs that have the appropriate function. For example, you can use .

The advantage of this approach is the additional functionality of such programs. For example, after uninstalling CCleaner, it will offer to clean up unnecessary files left from the software, which is a more efficient way to uninstall.

Method 2: Standard uninstall

An ordinary procedure that usually does not cause any problems.

After that, the program will be deleted. In earlier versions, usually the entire software package from NVIDIA was bundled and the removal of GF Exp entailed the removal of the drivers as well. Today there is no such problem, so all other software should remain in place.

Method 3: Uninstall via Start

The same can be done using the panel "Start".

This method may be suitable if "Parameters" this program is not displayed for one reason or another.

Method 4: Non-standard method

Many users are faced with the fact that neither in "Parameters", nor in "Control Panels" the uninstall process does not display this program. In such a situation, you can go non-standard way. Usually, for some reason, there is no file for uninstallation in the folder with the program itself. So you can just delete this folder.

Of course, you must first complete the task execution process, otherwise the system will refuse to delete the folder with executable files. To do this, right-click on the program icon in the notification panel and select the option "Output".

After that, you can delete the folder. It is located along the path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\

She has the right name - "NVIDIA GeForce Experience".

After deleting the folder, the program will stop automatically starting when the computer is turned on and will no longer bother the user.

A few pieces of information that may be helpful when uninstalling GeForce Experience.

Conclusion

One cannot but agree that the benefits of the program are significant. But if the user does not need the above functions, and the program only causes discomfort with a load on the system and other inconveniences, then it is best to really remove it.
