Inflammation of the appendages in women: causes, symptoms and treatments
Inflammation of the appendages in women is an infectious pathological process that affects the ovaries and fallopian tubes, but not the uterus itself. The main cause of the disease is the introduction into the body of the causative agent of an infectious disease in the genitourinary system. For a long time, inflammation of the appendages proceeds without obvious clinical manifestations, sometimes a woman's menstrual cycle is disturbed, pain in the lower abdomen appears. Treatment is aimed at destroying pathogens and restoring the health of the appendages.

General information
The appendages are an important part of the female reproductive system. They include the fallopian tubes and ovaries. The ovaries are a steam gland responsible for the formation of the egg, the synthesis of sex hormones. The ovaries enable a woman to conceive a child. The fallopian tubes, which are located next to the ovaries, are a paired female organ that connects the ovaries to the uterus. They are responsible for the fertilization of the egg.
Anatomically, they are next to each other, so the inflammatory process that develops in one organ passes to another. Doctors call inflammation of the tubes salpingitis, and I call inflammation of the ovaries oophoritis. Therefore, the pathological process has a common name: salpingoophoritis or adnexitis.
The appendages of a healthy woman are absolutely sterile. But when pathogenic microorganisms penetrate into them, an inflammatory process develops, which causes symptoms of adnexitis or inflammation of the appendages.
In the absence of medical help or an incorrect treatment regimen, inflammation of the appendages becomes chronic, which is characterized by serious complications.
