Blackberry is a thorny perennial shrub with branches up to 150 cm long. Moreover, these shoots with thorns bent in all directions form impenetrable thickets. Blackberry leaves are also equipped with small thorns, like those of raspberries. Only their shape is different. Our prickly "poor fellow" blooms from spring to autumn with white, rather large, flowers (up to 2 cm in diameter). The berries look very similar to raspberries, with the same seeds, but dark blue or black. The time of active fruiting is August-September.

Blackberries grow everywhere: on the plains and in the mountains, in the fields and wastelands, along rivers and roads. You can meet her in the southern latitudes and in the middle zone of our country, as well as beyond the Urals.

What is useful blackberry?

In folk medicine, this plant has long been an exceptional remedy. Rural residents have long sought to prepare blackberries for future use. From them cooked jam, jams, marmalade, made juice and syrup. A fragrant and healthy tea was then brewed from dried fruits. Blackberries give a wonderful tonic effect and calm the nervous system.
