Phytolysin reduces the absorption of β-carotene and α-tocopherol in the small intestine.

Pregnancy and lactation

The instructions for use of phytolysin indicate that use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended due to the lack of data regarding the teratogenic effect of the drug components and excretion in milk. Meanwhile, this particular drug is very often prescribed to pregnant women.

Urinary tract infections are one of the most common pathologies recorded in pregnant women (up to 30% of all pathologies). During this crucial period, optimal conditions are created in the female body for the development of urinary tract and kidney infections in an ascending manner, since the ureters expand under the influence of progesterone. Since the urinary and reproductive systems are located in the same anatomical area, any pathologies should be treated in a timely manner - only this can prevent infection of the fetus and possible complications.

During many years of practice, no complications in the mother and fetus were observed in patients taking phytolysin during pregnancy and lactation. This is what gynecologists and urologists rely on when prescribing the drug to women during pregnancy in standard therapeutic doses. The only thing that every expectant mother should understand is that such an appointment must be made by a doctor with a mandatory entry in the medical record. Self-medication is unacceptable!
