NieR: Automata is part of the Drakengard series, a fairly popular franchise that has a very interesting feature. We are talking about a tradition that wanders into absolutely every part of the series - endings, an incredibly huge number of endings that open literally from every sneeze of the player.

Naturally, in order to look at all the finals, you need to go through the game dozens of times, which not all gamers are capable of. Two or three passages, if it’s really hooked, but then ... Then even the most persistent lose their nerves, and only madmen manage to get all the endings on their own.

If you cannot classify yourself as one of those madmen and just want to know how you can get everything 26 endings, then you should turn to the Internet and find them there. In fact, this is exactly what you have now done by stumbling upon our article, in which we will tell you about all the finals of NieR: Automata.

Finally, it is worth noting that most of the endings have a "text" version, while only some of them have a full-fledged video. Nevertheless, each of these 26 completions puts a logical point in the story, for which it remains only to applaud the developers.

- Ending #1 - the very first ending that unlocks after a normal debut playthrough.

- No. 2 - the second ending, opening, imagine, after the second passage (new game mode +; must be played from the same save).

- No. 3 - opens only in the third playthrough, requiring two conditions from the player: choose 2A in the final and press "no" after the credits end.

- No. 4 - requires the third full passage and the choice of answer 9S.

- No. 5 - having received the two previous endings, click "yes" after the end of the credits. Your save will be deleted.

- #6 - don't do anything during the goliath hack when you play the game for the second time;

- No. 7 - passing the game for the second time, get control 9S, then bypass the chest, climb onto the tower crane and jump onto the building.

- No. 8 - leave the city when the "Goliath" starts the attack.

- No. 9 - during the debut passage, when you get to the Copy City, kill the boss Adam and leave (9S cannot be touched).

- #10 - finish off the pastor during chapter 09-01_3.

- No. 11 - eat mackerel.

- #12 - during chapter 10-02, leave the location during the boss fight.

- #13 - don't visit Pascal's Village when playing as 2A.

- No. 14 - kill all the inhabitants of Pascal's Village.

- #15 - during the third playthrough, don't fight the final boss, just run away.

- #16 - during the third playthrough, don't save 2B from the virus.

- #17 - do not interact with 2B during chapter 11-07 and leave the location.

- No. 18 - during the passage of chapter 14-05, deal with all the robots in the Abandoned Factory location.

- #19 - during the third playthrough, after reaching chapter 17-01, escape from Popola and Devola (run away until the ending opens).

- #20 - reset your OS Chip.

- #21 - destroy the shelter by destroying yourself.

- #22 - Save Popola and Devola when you play chapter 17-01. Hacking the tower is unnecessary.

Hidden among the one-time give-and-take quests is the inimitable Wandering Couple.

After five hours of playing Nier: Automata - Yoko Taro's sad robot sim - I finally gave up on these mini-map-flooding ones. After I went to the distant desert for the third time to exchange the things I found there for trifling resources and crooked dialogues, I disowned the desperate "offers" of quests around me as unnecessary filler, and went along the main path of androids and explosions, which hooked me from the first minute of the game.

Then something funny happened. When I realized I wasn't level enough for certain missions in the late game - you know what I mean, drill bastards - I had to go back to the side quests to earn some free XP. And while the vast majority of them didn't bring any admiration, I found one quest that managed to capture the spirit and imagination of the game's main story: The Wandering Couple. Of course, it was still give-and-take, annoying even. But it has a strange sense of humor mixed in with the themes of free will and the nature of existence—matters that immediately pulled me into the shattered world of Nier.

The quest was so good that it inspired me to complete every one of the game's 60 side missions, without exception. Most of them are a waste of time, but every player should find this curious pair.

They are very easy to overlook, they are hidden in one of the inconspicuous corners of Pascal's Machine Village. They ask you to bring a convoluted gadget from an abandoned factory to fix the man's "motor functions". When you deliver it, you will find them again in the flooded city, where the female robot makes the man ask for a huge amount of money to cross the ocean and escape forever.

When you pay them over 50k, you can assume the quest is over and forget about it. Upon returning to the flooded city, you will find out that a certain Emancipator has deceived the couple. After you run through the game world to fix these two, the couple will speculate about their future, the woman will suggest that they reformat each other, return to the Resistance and start over.

In the end, the man agrees and 9S reformats him. But when he tries to do the same to her, she reveals a secret: all these racing games were meant to turn a man into a fighting model so that "they don't have to run from anyone else." While 9S is shocked by the news, the woman casually admits that she has done it six times already and "it's never been a problem". After that, she showers you with gifts and leaves, probably to “pump” him to the point where he will have all the features of an ideal man.

During Nier, 2B and 9S shed blood, sweat and oil in the fight against the ongoing scourge of machines to make life on the planet safe for humans again. However, like the whole plan of the robot woman, all their efforts were in vain - people have long since died out. Instead of rebuilding it the first time, the woman in the side quest comes up with excuse after excuse for her partner to reset himself. Although they both suffer from her schemes, it is more than a way to pass the time in her understanding, just like the endless war with the machines is just a bait to keep the YorHA units going.

Just like a woman with a partner, 2B and 9S are caught in an endless circle, and I don't mean just the game's looping narrative. As the game's ending reveals, 9S learned the truth about the death of humanity several times, and 2B had to kill him and erase his memory each time to hide the terrible truth. In terms of the game, no one can do anything about this turn of events. After all, it's just how they are programmed. This alludes to one of Nier's core questions: does the woman decide to restart and improve her partner out of freedom of choice, or is she just doing her routine duties, devoid of feelings and free will?

In the true ending of the game, the two robots contemplate this, and 042 realizes that even after all this circle that has already happened, they cannot "deny the possibility" that the same tragedies might happen again. But faced with these disasters, they still recover data through the waves of fire in the closing credits, they are sure that androids deserve a second chance to overcome their nature. As with the wandering couple, it's not clear if they will get out of the vicious circle. But, as the robot woman said, it's still worth a try.

In total, Nier: Automata has several dozen types of weapons, which are divided into four categories: small swords, big swords, spears And combat brass knuckles. Each weapon in the game is unique and has special abilities, such as increased attack speed, increased damage when the character is at full health, and other bonuses. Nearly all weapons in Nier: Automata are unlocked by completing levels and are rewarded for meeting certain conditions. And only a small part is sold in stores from merchants. The choice of weapon depends on the damage done and the tactics of passing the game. It is impossible to collect a complete collection of weapons in one playthrough of the game, even a thorough exploration of the game world does not guarantee success. The task is further complicated by the fact that in order to obtain some types of weapons, it is necessary to use different characters, who, thanks to their abilities, will be able to receive a reward.

Game tested onPlayStation 4

If there was a list of the most fickle studios in the gaming industry, PlatinumGames would take one of the first places in it. It will create a chic Vanquish, then it will do something dull about the ninja turtles, then it will give out a magnificent Bayonetta, then again it will create a mediocre game based on the Legend of Korra. But the main thing is that you can almost always immediately understand what awaits us. In the case of NieR: Automata, the outcome was clear - we (first on PlayStation 4, and soon on PC) had another great action role-playing game.

Amazing near

It is important to pay attention to this: the game is not a slasher at all, as many who have passed the demo call it. A linear introduction was shown there, really reminiscent of games of this genre, including . But almost immediately after that, you find yourself in a spacious location, then the next, then the third - and you understand that in fact this is an RPG in the open world, and not just another non-stop crazy action.

On subsequent playthroughs, the game becomes noticeably darker.

Therefore, there is pumping, dozens of side quests, merchants placed everywhere, several types of weapons, improvements for the assistant robot and many other (sometimes unexpected) elements. But there is enough action: opponents scurry almost at every step, boss battles are spectacular and often consist of several stages, and the combat system, although easy to learn, is fraught with several secrets, the study of which will turn every fight into a beautiful dance. And although the environment in NieR: Automata is far from being made to the most modern standards, the animation of the characters and the style save the day - so much so that you stop thinking about the schedule after a few minutes.

The way developers skillfully juggle genres is what captivates me the most. Until the finale, Automata will either be a slasher, or an arcade with a side view, or turn into a shoot’em up, or pretend to be a fighting game for a couple of minutes. Basically, of course, the camera will hang behind the heroine, but there are a lot of episodes with a different perspective. All this is never distracting or confusing, as the controls remain basically the same, but the game demonstrates the ability to surprise throughout the journey.

And it will last not ten or even fifteen hours. To see all the content, you have to spend about sixty in NieR: Automata, if not more. The fact is that the first passage is just the beginning of something much bigger, which the developers warn about after the final credits. Using the same save, you can start the game again and see half as much new content. And after that, go through Automata again and get a completely new long story episode, which there was no hint of until the first credits. And the story of pretty androids 2B and 9S saving the planet suddenly becomes much more complicated and complicated.

Interest in replays is often characterized as follows: they say, the gameplay or story is so exciting that you want to relive what happened again or turn on a higher level of difficulty and use the knowledge gained against strong opponents. In NieR: Automata, subsequent runs mean something completely different - new tasks become available, additional details, locations, enemies and bosses appear. There are even more ways to deal with enemies, although any further clarifications will be spoilers. In addition, the storyline expands significantly, and answers are given to all the questions that have arisen, and not always pleasant ones.

The first playthrough of NieR: Automata can take a long time, although nothing prevents you from running through all the story missions and immediately reaching the credits. But the exploration of the world and the search for additional assignments are carried away in earnest. Yes, side quests can be unoriginal (go there and fetch that, run there and talk to that one), but the mini-stories and dialogues that accompany them are always worth not missing anything. From them you learn about the world of NieR, and about your favorite heroes, and sometimes they even raise philosophical questions that make you stop and think a little.

This also applies to the story as a whole - there are many mysteries in it, the solutions of which the player roughly understands, but he does not always succeed in comparing one with the other. But the longer you go through the Automata, the clearer the picture emerges. The actors who appeared for a couple of minutes get much more screen time in the future, the reasons for certain events turn out to be unexpected, but make sense. Characters from banal good people and villains turn into much more developed heroes with each new dialogue or video - and this applies not only to the protagonists, but also to the androids with robots surrounding them.

As per notes

Thanks to a bunch of unusual solutions, NieR: Automata manages to surprise the player at every turn - both gameplay, plot, and visually. This is a project that can cause delight not only with the elements lying on the surface, but also with all sorts of non-obvious little things. Largely because of this, the original NieR was elevated to the status of a cult classic, but PlatinumGames, frankly, turned out to be head and shoulders above the now deceased studio Cavia. Only the authors of Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising could qualitatively bring to life the crazy ideas of creative director Yoko Taro.

Even if you disassemble the components of Automata separately, each of them seems to be the most thoughtful and devoid of flaws. And how great the sum of the terms is, you can determine by the tone of this review. Take, for example, the combat system - not a lot of buttons are used in battles, but how the fights take place depends on the weapons and the installed improvements. In the arsenal of heroes there are short and long swords, as well as spears and similar brass knuckles, while tactics when using one or another equipment will vary. Whatever the character holds in his hands, the dodge system remains the same - just press R2 before hitting the enemy, as the hero jumps away and gets the opportunity to immediately deal damage to the opponent, throwing him into the air or performing a spectacular combo.

To make the fights a little easier, you need to modify the chip worn by the protagonist. There are very few slots for useful improvements at first, but you can increase their number in the Bunker, the main base of androids. After that, by collecting modifications all over the world, it will eventually be possible to turn 2B into a real death machine that can restore a third of health after each kill, use evasions more successfully, gain more experience and earn other bonuses. Upgrades of the helper robot will also come in handy: it either puts up a shield that saves from flying projectiles, or spins up and deals damage to nearby enemies.

Even the design of the strange and eccentric enemies fit perfectly into the narrative. Here you really often have to fight with funny round-headed robots, but in most cases they differ from each other and are dressed in different funny costumes. An explanation of why they behave this way will also be required. Well, it’s not worth talking about bosses - PlatinumGames knows his business, so you won’t be bored in battles. Moreover, the music in fights is amazing, as in the usual exploration of the world - at each location you want to stop and listen to the song to the end. And then turn on six o'clock soundtrack away from the game and hope that he collects as many awards as possible at the end of the year.

NieR: Automata can only find fault with the visual component, which is not far from Metal Gear Rising four years ago. The textures are stretched, the buildings in the ruined city are similar to each other and look like gray boxes. Traveling around the world, you constantly stumble upon invisible walls - it would seem that you can run between the trees or jump over the fence, but the game does not allow. However, it is worth paying attention to this, as Automata immediately shows some beautiful scene and makes you forget about graphical flaws. The game masterfully masks the visual obsoleteness with a continuous stream of vivid impressions.

NieR: Automata turned out to be one of the best PlatinumGames games, with a portfolio full of great titles. This is a fascinating and memorable role-playing action, harmoniously combining several genres and constantly presenting surprises. And it’s hard not to admire him - even after five seen endings (there are more than two dozen in total), it’s hard to deny yourself the return to this beautiful, unusual, somewhat crazy, but understandable and unlike anything else world.

Advantages:

  • an unusual manner of narration that makes each passage exciting;
  • excellent characters - both main and secondary;
  • successful mixing of genres - switching the camera never interferes;
  • spectacular and beautiful combat system with many subtleties;
  • amazing soundtrack.
