The cold seasons bring with them many problems for vehicle owners. There are frequent cases when, due to frost, the car turns into a locked bastion. At the same time, it is extremely difficult to open or close the door. Even if somehow managed to unlock it, after that it may not be locked. Traveling with an open one is unwise and unsafe. In order to have knowledge of what actions to take when the door does not close in the car, you need to have an idea of \u200b\u200bthe simplest device of this mechanism.

locking device

The general structure of the lock is represented by a rotary type latch and a locking mechanism. These are the details that allow them to be seen from the outside. There are several rods in the door, it is possible to have a servo drive for driving the rods and a relay of the lock itself.

In post-Soviet cars there is no electronics, the whole device has a mechanical mode of action. Along the inner contour of the door and along the opening of the body, those responsible for its snug fit are installed. There is a fixing part on the door latch mounting line on the body. When trying to lock the car, the door closing element engages with the body lock. Such details cause trouble in the winter cold. They may not work for locking, or vice versa.

Why won't my car door close in winter?

The main problem is the freezing of the lock mechanism, which does not work when trying to close. Hardened sealant can also interfere with normal locking. You should not turn all the troubles on the impact of low temperatures. There is an option when the latch teeth are triggered, or the engagement point on the body is designed. In this case, you can slam the door until the morning, but there will be no effect.

There is a high probability of freezing of the castle itself. Then the door in the car from the key fob does not close. The freezing of the mechanism occurs due to the presence of condensate inside, formed after an unscrupulous washing or the temperature difference in the cabin and on the street. The salon is poorly ventilated, has fallen into disrepair. The consequences of such manifestations will be condensation of moisture. At a minus, water droplets will grab and give car owners a headache. Trouble with opening the vehicle can occur with incorrect adjustments. The condition of door hinges that lack lubricant should be checked. There is a possibility of loosening of the latch fasteners - this will make it difficult to close the machine. When the door is not closed in the car with a key, special attention must be paid to the condition of the lock core. The problem lies in the presence of some backlash between the larva and the body. When moisture enters this gap, under the influence of frost, icing occurs, and locking the door becomes a troublesome task. Another problem that complicates the closure is the wear of the locking spring.

You should carefully inspect the door at the time of closing, there is a possibility of spontaneous displacement of the locking bracket. For normal operation, you will need to make an adjustment by moving the stopper to the desired value.

The door in the VAZ car does not close

The essence of the problems for owners of domestically produced cars lies in the presence of a number of shortcomings in the design of the locking device, the principle of operation of the rods and the locking device. At any time of the year, you can see how the owners of such vehicles make considerable efforts to close the door. Most rational solution- is to tune in to replace the locking mechanism with a more modernized lock with a slightly different principle of operation. Larvae are a disease of early models of domestic cars. Some can be completely lost when driving on poor-quality road surfaces. To fix this problem, you need to insert. This will prevent the entry of unwanted particles and moisture.

Is it possible to defrost the castle with water in winter

The first thought that comes to mind when the door freezes and does not close is to go to heat a kettle of water and warm up the locking device. Such a process will bring an effect, but the consequences will make you think. The trouble is that the poured water will remain inside the mechanisms and will certainly freeze back. It will just create new troubles. It's a good idea to move into a warm room, wait for it to melt, and blow out all the elements with warm compressed air. Due to the constant presence of water, corrosion processes can develop.

How to prepare castles for the cold

Before the arrival of cold weather, maintenance of the locking parts should be carried out.

You will need to purchase a thick grease like grease, and lubricate the elements of the closing mechanism. Such a lubricant does not freeze and will minimize wear and wear of parts. There is a need to check the condition of all seals. If defects are found, replacement will be required. Rubber sealing tapes are quite expensive, so it makes sense to provide good care.

How to extend the life of seals

The door in the car does not close in the cold - the cause of this trouble often lies in the state of the sealing rubber. According to numerous advice from motorists, it is necessary to apply special processing with such material will allow you to save desired properties seals, without feeling discomfort with the closing of the vehicle doors, even in severe frosts. This will help to extend the service life and not spend extra money on purchasing new parts.

Is there a gentle way to defrost the lock

The modern market is full of offers of various antifreeze agents, both domestic and foreign. Various lubricants and specialty sprays are available. When the machine does not close, then with the help of these means it is possible to cope with icing and freezing of parts of the locking system. Spray treatment is carried out. It will take a little time, then everything will be all right. This procedure will save you from such troubles in the future. The cost of such solutions ranges from 200-400 rubles.

What additional ways to warm the doors

If the door does not close in the car, and the lock has succumbed to low temperatures, then, in the absence of other means, it is possible to warm the mechanism with warm air. It is necessary to arm yourself with an ordinary hair dryer and blow hot air into problem areas. But such a procedure should not be expected to have a long-term effect. Subsequently, processing will be required for the purpose of permanent protection from the cold. When the door lock in the car does not close, there is a way to heat the key with a lighter or by burning combustible materials. A method of using pure alcohol for defrosting is possible. The effectiveness of such actions is present. But one should not expect a guaranteed result from such manipulations. This method is intended for extreme measures. It is worth having some funds in reserve. You can also close the doors, drive, start the engine and warm it up thoroughly. After these steps, it is necessary to turn on the stove to the maximum with all the airflows, and wait until the locking system warms up and starts to function.

It will help in a critical situation, which is part of the antifreeze, but this can adversely affect the condition and further operation of the lock parts. There is a way to use kerosene, which is usually used to facilitate the loosening of threaded connections. It also helps a lot when defrosting locks, but it harms the locking elements by washing off the grease. In case of inspection of the seal, it is necessary to remove particles of debris and ice from the slots, wipe dry. When the door handle is iced up along with the keyhole, there is an option to use a special plastic scraper that allows you to remove ice in hard-to-reach places. With rash actions, you can easily break the lock cylinder, and this will entail unnecessary costs.

How to avoid trouble in cold weather

All such problems occur due to the long stay of the car in the open. The best way out is to park the vehicle for a long time in the garage, then you won’t have to think why the door in the car doesn’t close. When traveling to work, you should place your car in heated parking lots. Otherwise, you will have to resort to the help of chemical means of protection.

Operation of the central lock in winter

Installing an alarm and the presence of a remote control for closing the car at the touch of a button adds convenience. No need to waste time locking with keys. But with the advent of sub-zero temperatures, problem situations can also arise, but there will be no cases when the keys are in the car, the doors are closed. The central locking system depends on the power source, and if it is negative, the battery may lose its charge. In winter, a case may arise when, when trying to lock the vehicle, the desired action will not occur. The reason may be the failure of the electric drives. Then you will need to resort to the key or press the mechanical latch and close the doors, after thinking about the subsequent opening. AT winter time it is necessary to pay attention to the condition of the battery, the functioning of the central locking system depends on it. Now it is clear what to do when the door in the car does not close.

Composition against freezing agents

The main constituents of such solutions are silicone and various types of alcohol.

In other cases, other chemical components are used that have cold-resistant properties. The silicone base also has an anti-corrosion effect. Also, some drivers advise the use of special automotive cosmetics that contribute to the rapid thawing of doors.

How car washing affects locks in winter

When visiting washing stations, it is desirable to have confidence in the quality of drying. During washing, water can get into keyholes and other easily accessible openings. After washing, it is important that the machine is dried, otherwise the remaining water will turn into ice.

In this case, a situation will arise when the door does not close in the car. You should wash your car at stations that have positive reviews and recommendations from car owners.

Are there service stations that defrost doors?

In particularly difficult situations, you can always resort to the help of professionals who do everything as soon as possible and without any difficulties. There are many workshops dealing with the problems of non-closing doors on vehicles. Specialists have extensive experience in solving these problems and have a set of necessary tools to help provide qualified assistance. It is possible to provide services with departure to the parking lot. The trouble is the need to spend money when ordering services.

So, we found out why the door in the car does not close, what to do in this situation and how to solve the problem.

In an apartment or own house, there are many elements that perform different functions. Among them are internal doors for rooms installed between rooms. They separate rooms, protect from extraneous noise or unnecessary light. In addition, these devices perform a decorative role, complementing the interior, making it complete.

Classification of interior doors

In construction practice, there are different interior designs.

  • Swing. This is a common option in typical apartment buildings. It is traditionally resorted to in the construction of cottages or suburban households. Structurally they are:
  1. single leaf;
  2. semi-soluble;
  3. bivalve.
  • Folding. A similar design option is resorted to when the surrounding space in the rooms is limited. Such devices consist of narrow elements and are folded like an accordion.
  • Between adjacent rooms, the installation of sliding doors is practiced. They can be sliding if there is only one sash and sliding - if there are two sashes moving in different directions.

According to the type of material from which interior structures are made, they can be;

  • plastic;
  • MDF door;
  • tree;
  • veneered with chipboard, fiberboard or caracas with honeycomb filling.

When the need for repair arises

Door structures for internal use have a list of common damage that occurs during operation:

  • the handles are loosened and the locks do not close;
  • sagging of the door leaf occurs;
  • the material from which this device is made swells, structures made of are most susceptible to this;
  • composites dry up
  • the veneer covering the structure peels off or cracks;
  • there is a crack in the door glass.

How to troubleshoot a door handle

You can repair handles yourself. For you will need the following tools:

  • Phillips and flat screwdriver;
  • wrench.

The first reason is the weakening of the self-tapping screws that secure the outer covers covering the inner ones. To fix this problem, a loose self-tapping screw is tightened. If it does not tighten, you must:

  • unscrew the screws;
  • remove the cover;
  • insert wooden sticks into the holes from the screws;
  • put on the cover and tighten the screws.

If the cause of the malfunction of the handle is in the internal mechanism, it is necessary to disassemble the external decorative trims, remove the handle with a wrench and pull out this mechanism.

Carefully inspect the lock and if it cannot be repaired, then you need to take a new one and install it in place of the faulty one.

What to do if the door won't close

Proper functioning of the door structure creates a comfortable home environment. Discomfort appears if the interior door does not close. This annoys the owners and leads to damage to the door leaf or frame.

The reasons that the interior door does not close well can be:

  • incorrect installation of the door frame or its distortion during operation;
  • swollen;
  • The door does not close due to incorrectly installed hinges:
  1. Using a level (best of all - laser, it has high accuracy) and a plumb line to determine the correct installation of the box. In case of distortion, the door leaf is removed from the hinges, the trim is removed. Then the box is aligned in the doorway. Modern builders attach it to anchors, so you need to adjust them with a Phillips screwdriver so as to eliminate the skew. Then close the gaps formed and install the door leaf in place.
  2. If it is swollen, then you need to remove it. Most often this happens with solid wood products. In this case, you can repair the interior door with a planer. To do this, you need to make cuts with a planer on the side of the door leaf that interferes with closing. Sometimes it is required to cut wood from the canvas on all sides. When processing a wooden door leaf with a planer, care must be taken during cuts so as not to damage the structure at the points of gluing of the components of the door. Cover the cuts with the same tint or paint that processed the entire door.
  3. Repair of door hinges is needed if they are planted deeper than necessary from the front edge of the door leaf. Often, when operating this design, the hinges bend or the fixing screws loosen. When determining such a defect, in order to eliminate it, it is necessary to rearrange the loops to the right place. If the hinges are deformed, replace them. When performing this work, you will need a Phillips screwdriver for self-tapping screws.

How to eliminate sagging

Having discovered that the interior door has sagged, you need to find out why this happened. The reasons here can also be different:

  • loose fastening of the hinges;
  • hinges deformed due to heavy load;
  • the door sagged due to the skew of the box.

Having determined that the door leaf is warped due to poor fastening of the hinges, it is necessary to fix them. To do this, you need to remove the door. Tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. To make the fastening strong, you can replace the screws with longer ones.

If the screws in the nests are loose, then you need:

  • remove loops;
  • fill the vacated holes with wooden glazing beads, you can pre-lubricate them with glue;
  • attach the loops to the previous attachment point and tightly wrap the screws;
  • hang the door in place.

The deformation of the loops occurs due to improper selection of fittings. The hinges are found to be weak for the actual weight of the door. In such a situation, it is necessary to change the fittings to a more durable one.

There may be such a situation that the door sagged due to improper installation of the hinge. In this case, it is required to deepen the half of the loop into a wooden surface, cutting out the necessary recess with a chisel.

You can make this recess in the door or frame, depending on the need.

When, according to the results of the inspection, it turns out that the fault of the sagging is the skew of the box, then it is necessary to dismantle it. Do-it-yourself interior door repair is also possible in this case.

If immediately after the installation of the door structure, they functioned normally, then the changes occurred due to the settlement of the house. In this case, the repair procedure will be as follows:

  • remove the canvas and platbands;
  • release from fasteners and pull out the door frame;
  • if it is severely deformed, replace it;
  • using a level and a plumb line, expose the box and secure it with anchors, three pieces on each side;
  • try on the door and attach the hinges in accordance with its new position;
  • hang the door leaf and check the correct closing;
  • put the trims in place.

Veneer repair on interior doors

On the door structure covered with veneer, various damages can appear - from scratches to cracks and even peeling off of some surface areas.

Repairs are made, depending on the severity of the damage, using polish or glue.

  1. If scratches appear on such a surface, the repair of the veneer will consist in rubbing the damaged area with a polish.
  2. You can repair a crack in veneer using PVA glue or door varnish and sawdust. Putty is kneaded from them, with which the crack is rubbed. After such a procedure, it is necessary to cover the repaired place with a tinting composition to match the color of the canvas. If the crack is large, with spalling of some sections, then it is better to replace this section of the veneer with a new one.
  3. If the veneer has peeled off the door, then the repair of veneered doors should be carried out with the door leaf removed.

An adhesive solution for wooden surfaces is prepared in advance.

In the place where the veneer has peeled off, the voids found are filled with glue, and the surface on which the veneer will lie is also smeared with glue.

The peeled off part is pressed against the door leaf and covered with tracing paper. On top of it, oppression is laid to pressurize the surface.

Experience shows that a person with minimal technical skills is able to repair interior wooden doors with his own hands without much difficulty.

The main thing is to notice the defect in time and not delay its elimination.

Among the common breakdowns that occur at home, a special place is occupied by various kinds of malfunctions of doors. If some missteps were made during their installation, then often all sorts of troubles begin to happen to them later. As a result, it becomes uncomfortable to use them, and, therefore, the question of repair arises.

In this article, we will talk about what to do if the door does not close, and how to fix it yourself.

Why can't the door close?

There is a fairly large list of the most frequently occurring damage, as a result of which the doors stop closing. It looks like this:

  • handles are loose;
  • the lock mechanism becomes unusable;
  • the canvas sags under its own weight;
  • wood swells from high humidity;
  • shrinks from the heat;
  • boxes are deformed, etc.

We repair handles

In general, if the breakdown did not lead to the failure of the entire structure of the handles, it will not be difficult to repair them yourself. Otherwise, they will have to be changed.

First of all, it should be noted that in order for them to serve as long as possible, you should choose handles good quality made of bronze or brass. In this case, they will work for many years without causing any inconvenience.

What do you need from the tools? Following:

  • screwdrivers - Phillips and flat;
  • joiner's glue;
  • matches or toothpicks.

Most often, problems arise due to the fact that the screws that secure the handle bar become loose in the wood - as a result, they warp and jam.

Here you only need to tighten the screws. However, if they can no longer hold securely, it is necessary to replace them with thicker ones or seal the existing hole. It will be possible to do this procedure with the help of several matches or toothpicks lubricated with carpentry glue.

The problem is more serious when the screws break an oversized hole in a frame door that has a honeycomb core inside. Here you will need to purchase handles with longer slats to cover the damaged area.

A lock malfunction, unless it is a lack of lubrication, is in most cases unrecoverable, so you will need to buy a new mechanism.

Repairing a Door That Won't Close

A properly functioning door does not cause any trouble, but when for some reason it stops working normally, discomfort arises - it has to be closed with force and even this often does not help. If you tighten it with repairs, then over time it will be damaged even more.

The following reasons may cause the door to fail to close:

  • poor fastening of the box, which resulted in its skew;
  • canvas swelling (if it is made of solid wood);
  • incorrect installation of hinges.

First of all, you need to make sure that the door itself is completely level. This will require a spirit level. If there is a bias, then the procedure is as follows:

  • remove the canvas from the hinges;
  • we dismantle platbands;
  • remove the old seal;
  • align the box and burst from the inside with suitable bars;
  • we foam the voids around it;
  • leave for a day.

Then it remains only to hang the canvas back, make sure that the doors close normally and return the trim. If necessary, the box can be slightly adjusted by tightening a little bit all the anchor bolts that fix it in a vertical position in the opening.

When swelling, the procedure is different:

  • the canvas is inspected to identify those places that interfere with closing;
  • removed from the loops;
  • a planer removes excess material;
  • treated surfaces are varnished or painted in a suitable shade;
  • after drying, the door is hung in place.

Often problems arise due to the fact that the hinges were installed incorrectly. The most common mistake here is getting too deep on the front side. This ultimately leads to:

  • loosening screws;
  • bending the loops themselves.

It is not difficult to fix the problem - just move them closer to the front surface. In case of deformation, the loops will have to be replaced with new ones.

What to do if the door sagged

You can understand that there is sagging by oblique fit of the upper edge of the door to the box. It is important here to determine what exactly led to this. The reasons are most often the following:

  • screws are loose;
  • the hinges were too weak and could not withstand the weight of the canvas;
  • skewed the box.

In the first case, it is enough to fix the loops with new, thicker and longer self-tapping screws. In this case, the door itself will need to be removed. It would be better to seal old holes with wooden pegs smeared with glue.

In case of deformation, it will be necessary to replace the loops with new ones - more reliable.

The distortion of the box is the most serious malfunction of all. Here you will have to completely dismantle it and reinstall it, as indicated above.

In new homes, most often problems with doors arise due to the fact that the building continues to settle for several years. As a result, boxes usually deform over time. You will need to completely remove it from the opening and inspect it - if its shape as a whole is not broken, then it will be enough to trim the vertical bars a little. Otherwise, you will have to buy a new box.

After that, most likely, you will also need to shorten the door leaf itself. It is better to do this with a circular saw installed on the machine, but at worst, a jigsaw will do. Trimming should be done along the bottom edge.

If the plastic door does not close

Here again, most likely, the problem arose due to a malfunction of the handle. Many manufacturers save on fittings, and as a result, they quickly become unusable. You will need to remove the decorative strips and tighten the loose screws hidden under them. If it turns out that any element of the handle has become unusable, it will need to be replaced with a new one.

After installation of interior doors, incorrect operation of the structure may be detected. The fault may lie both with the installer, and with the manufacturer or the owner himself. How to adjust interior doors if they do not close well? You can go two ways: call the guilty team of workers or take over the reinstallation.

Interior doors

Broken door leaf

In the case when the cause of poor closing of the interior door is the wrong dimensions of its leaf, the manufacturer is responsible for this. The customer has the right to contact this organization and demand compensation for damage or replace interior doors with new ones. In this case, you will have to carry out the installation process again. To avoid such a long, laborious and costly process, you can try to dismantle or adjust it yourself.

If the product is defective, interior doors may not close due to:

  • distortion of the door leaf;
  • incorrect dimensions (length, height) of the material;
  • broken loops.

Installation of door hinges

The easiest way to deal with the problem of loops. To solve it, it is necessary to remove the door from the lower part of the mounting device, leaving only the upper one - the one that is attached to the canvas. If the matter is rust, dirt or construction debris getting into the capsule, it is enough to thoroughly clean the fasteners. When the hinges constantly creak, move poorly when trying to close - it's a matter of poor lubrication.

This option is solved without removing the interior door, by simply pouring oil on the motor elements of the structure. When the hinges are loosely set one on top of the other, the web is lifted up and then correctly put on the bottom of the fastener until the two halves are completely closed.

Dimensional mismatch is the most difficult to process. When it is not enough grinding wheel, skins. It will take either a serious change in the edges of the structure, or a rearrangement of the platbands. If the doorway allows, they need to be widened until a suitable gap is obtained.

In case of slight violations of the geometry of interior doors, it is enough to use a planer and remove excess material from the door leaf. If the model was expensive and the removal of the top layer cannot then be hidden by applying your own paint and sanding, then for aesthetic purposes it is better to replace the door with a new one. Processing with a planer and similar tools is subject only to an unpainted door, in extreme cases treated with a transparent wooden varnish.

Problems installing components

Often, warped platbands, too high a threshold or overall seals interfere with the correct closing of interior doors. After checking the presence of each of the problems, the master or owner must proceed to an adequate solution to the violation.

Door handle repair

The first case is the presence of a too high threshold. An aluminum or rubber lining near the bottom of the interior door can be located above the level of the lower border of the door and prevent it from passing into the doorway. The threshold is dismantled and, due to the cheapness of such a finish, it is simply replaced with a new, smaller one. This issue is easy to fix.

The second likely cause of the malfunction is the skew of the platbands or the doorway itself. If one of the fasteners, for example, a nail, has come off, use a hammer to drive it back into the wall and casing. If the platbands are too large, they are completely dismantled to correct the situation. In fact, you will have to do a reinstallation of the product.

Seals must be located clearly according to the plan. If a deviation from it is noticed and at the same time there is a problematic closure of the interior structure, the position of the seals must be adjusted.

Problems during the installation of locking structures

Locks, hecks and other products designed to install personal space can greatly interfere with the operation of the door if the fastening algorithm is incorrect. Due to the inattentive work of the master, part of the metal door latch may block the doorway. The tongue of the handle, which is responsible for holding the door in a fixed position, can be turned upside down and stuck into the door leaf, while the special hole will be higher or lower. After diagnosing the problem and its clear definition of what to do, it is necessary to reinstall the defective design. Installation can take from 30 minutes to a couple of hours.

Door structures

Inverted handles are cut out of the product with a screwdriver to adjust them. By unscrewing the retaining side screws, the locking device can be pry off with the sharp part of the screwdriver. You will need to separately pull out the handle and the plane around it - through the front panel - and separately dismantle the side of the mechanism, that is, the body and the tongue recessed into it. In the case where the locks then close correctly, the installation was successful.

If the mechanical product is working and did not allow the interior partition to work correctly only because of the defects that the installation brought, it is remounted correctly. If the matter is in the marriage of the device itself, a new one is bought. Available for owners budget options from a few hundred rubles, which would not.

Solving problems that arose through the fault of the owner

Why aren't the doors closed yet? Sometimes the owner of the apartment and the interior doors installed in it can create a problem situation himself. Due to inattention or negligence, he may allow the following.

Swelling of the material. Products made of natural wood are strongly deformed and poorly closed under the influence of high humidity. If the owner inadvertently did wet cleaning of the untreated door, constantly opened the windows in the rain, turned on the humidifier, directing it to the doorway, then the swelling was his fault. Over time, the material gets used to environment, and moisture no longer affects it. Therefore, the problem may occur only in the first weeks after installation. It is worth talking about marriage when, after a month, the interior doors have not become smaller.

Installation of interior doors

Installation of unsuitable flooring. Floor carpets or linoleum can lie badly, wrinkle and simply fall into the doorway, blocking it and the movement of the product from above.

The most common mistake is to install wires on top or bottom of the door. Wiring (eg cable for internet connection) must be installed in such a way that it does not interfere. It is necessary to monitor whether the interior doors close correctly after correction.

Usually, wiring is carried out either along the baseboard in special recesses, or even through the wall if it is urgently necessary. You can re-lay the cable by simply moving the mount to another place where the wires have become invisible, and nailing it again. To understand the correct location, you can use the photo.

To compensate for water swelling, only time and limiting humidity in the first period of use of the product will do. And so that the flooring does not jam and does not fall into the gap, it should either be moved (carpet), or straightened and nailed in places with a steel or aluminum threshold and skirting boards (linoleum). Installation will take a few minutes.

After all the fixes, the owner will notice that now everything is working correctly and the interior doors close well.
