What prayer should you read to thank God? A strong prayer of gratitude to the Lord. Prayers of Thanksgiving to the Blessed Virgin Mary

Carrying out various daily tasks and caring for their daily bread, many periodically stop remembering the most significant things. In this regard, the correct attitude towards reality, towards one’s neighbor and towards oneself may be lost.

It is prayer that is that wonderful tool that allows you to turn to the Almighty and maintain constant communication and relationship with him. Such relationships are more than significant for a believer. If we are talking about the Orthodox faith, then every person needs to be able to pray, and not only ask for something from the Higher Powers, but also read prayers of gratitude to the Lord and other saints.

How and when to give thanks?

As a rule, people turn to people only in difficult moments, when they want to ask for something or receive something.. Of course, the Lord is merciful and gives everyone faith and is able to support them in difficult times. However, such an attitude seems consumerist, and is it wise to leave yourself without the opportunity to pray more frequently?

The ideal is considered to be unceasing prayer, which allows one to receive indescribable spiritual benefits, but this can only be achieved by great ascetics who show incredible efforts and efforts. Worldly people should at least simply not forget about the Almighty and pray periodically. Especially valuable are prayers of thanksgiving that do not require or ask for anything, but simply express your gratitude.

Prayers of thanksgiving should be offered as daily as possible, and preferably sincerely with a clear understanding of the value. For example, you can say a prayer of gratitude in the morning for the opportunity to wake up again, see a bright day again, and the like.

Many perceive awakening as a completely natural and deserved event, but they forget about the possibility of once falling asleep and not waking up. Such people do not even realize how much they have no control over such opportunities and how happy each new day is. Before you set yourself a morning prayer rule, you should think about it in detail and understand why you are expressing gratitude.

When you are clearly aware of the presence of the Supreme in all your affairs and in every second of your existence, you feel this gratitude. You understand the relevance of giving thanks after a completed task or after a completed day. It doesn’t matter how good or bad this day seemed to you, you honor the Lord’s providence and give thanks for the opportunity to receive these joys or trials.

Certainly, the hardest thing is to give thanks for adversity and difficulties. There is not always enough reason and faith to show patience and humility, to accept some trials as a lesson. Nevertheless, it is precisely such prayers that are sincere and with understanding that are especially valuable and, by the way, they help to overcome various difficulties.

To help you pray in different situations, various prayer options are provided below. These words are addressed to the Lord and the Mother of God.

On every day

The most common prayer is the “Our Father,” which every Christian should know. This prayer can also be considered as a prayer of gratitude and can be used daily.

  • By awakening.
  • Before going to bed.
  • Before the beginning of the matter(beginning of work).
  • By completion of the case.
  • Before eating.
  • Before making decisions, in hard situations.
  • When my heart is happy, after receiving something.

Next prayer to the Lord refers to gratitude for help in various matters. After all, the Lord helps in all matters and we need to offer gratitude with an understanding of this fact:

“We thank Thee, Lord our God, for all Thy good deeds, even from the first age to the present, in us, Thy unworthy servants (names), who were, known and unknown, about those revealed and unmanifested, even those who were in deed and in word: who loved us Just as you deigned to give Your Only Begotten Son for us, make us worthy of Your love.

Grant with Your word wisdom and with Your fear inhale strength from Your power, and whether we have sinned, whether willingly or unwillingly, forgive and not impute, and keep our soul holy, and present it to Thy Throne, having a clear conscience, and the end is worthy of Thy love for mankind; and remember, O Lord, all who call upon Thy name in truth, remember all who desire good or evil against us: for all are men, and every man is in vain; We also pray to You, Lord, grant us Your great mercy. Amen."

From the prayers to the Mother of God, we should recall the prayer rule that many Orthodox read daily:

“Virgin Mother of God, Rejoice, O Blessed Mary, the Lord is with You; Blessed are You among women and blessed is the fruit of Your womb, for You have given birth to the Savior of our souls.”

In addition, we note the following prayer of gratitude (most often read after communion):

“Most Holy Lady Theotokos, light of my darkened soul, hope, protection, refuge, consolation, my joy! I thank You that You have vouchsafed me, unworthy, to become a partaker of the most pure Body and precious Blood of Your Son. But, O One who gave birth to the true Light, enlighten the spiritual eyes of my heart. Source of immortality, O One who gave birth, revive me, deadened by sin. Mother of the merciful God, loving mercy, have mercy on me and give me tenderness and contrition in my heart, and humility in my thoughts, and a calling to good thoughts when my mind is captivated. And grant me, until my last breath, to accept, without condemnation, the shrine of the most pure Sacraments for the healing of soul and body. And give me tears of repentance and thanksgiving, so that I may sing and glorify You all the days of my life, for You are blessed and glorified forever. Amen."

After you have thanked our Lord Jesus Christ. You should also contact your To the Guardian and offer the following prayer of thanksgiving:

Having thanked and glorified our Lord, the One God of the Orthodox Jesus Christ for His beneficence, I appeal to you, holy angel of Christ, Divine warrior. I appeal with a prayer of gratitude, I thank you for your mercy towards me and for your intercession for me before the face of the Lord. Be glorified in the Lord, angel!

How to pray to all the saints?

You don’t always have icons of all the saints you want to thank in your home, but now the image of one or another saint can be available to you on your computer screen. If you pray to this or that saint, then most often you give thanks for some area in which, let’s say, this saint is in charge.

When you have sincere motivation and reasonable understanding, there is no need at all to follow canonical texts or read secret prayers. The canon was created to put you in the right mood, to lead you away from unnecessary thoughts and moods.

However, if you yourself understand who should be thanked and have the necessary motivation, then you can pray in your own words.

Having named the name of the saint, you can silently whisper or out loud express your gratitude. If you wish, you can end the prayer with three Amens.

If we are talking about prayers of thanksgiving, then, of course, all thanks should be offered to the Lord. According to tradition, if we turn to the saints, we ask them to pray for us, that is, to turn to the Almighty for some of our well-being. At the same time, there are also gratitude addresses within the canon and outside the canon to the saints.

However, here it is necessary to understand the essence of such appeals. When we ask for something holy, then we ask simply because of his greater closeness to the Lord. The ascetic spent his entire earthly journey in order to get closer to him and was constantly strengthened by prayer.

When some saint helps us, it is the Lord himself who helps us, but in some way thanks to this saint. Therefore, when we thank a saint, we first of all thank the Almighty, but we also thank the saint, without whom our faith might not be enough to seek help.

Panteleimon the healer

A prayer of thanksgiving for a healer is usually read after liberation from illness:

“Holy Great Martyr, Healer and Wonderworker Panteleimon, all-round servant of God and a constant prayer book for Orthodox Christians!

You are worthily named Panteleimon, the all-merciful hedgehog, for having received from God the grace to pray for us and to heal illnesses, you richly give to everyone who comes to you, various healings and everything needed for temporary life and salvation: for this reason we are not worthy, having been granted of your mercy, again before your holy icon we resort to you, and glorifying you, as a sincere saint of God, our faithful prayer book and healer, we fervently thank you and the giver of all the good things of the Lord our God for the great blessings that you have given us from Him.

Therefore, mercifully accept this small prayerful thanksgiving of ours, before imams will give you anything other than what is due, and for the rest of our life, do not deprive us, weak and sinners, of your help and prayerful intercession with the Lord our God, to whom all glory, thanksgiving and worship are due. , Father and Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen."

Nicholas the Wonderworker

Thanksgiving Prayer for Miracle Worker:

“Nicholas the Pleasant! I address you as a teacher and shepherd with faith and respect, with love and admiration. I send you words of gratitude, I pray for a prosperous life. I say thank you very much, I hope in mercy and forgiveness. For sins, for thoughts, and for thoughts. Just as you have had mercy on all sinners, so have mercy on me. Protect from terrible trials and from vain death. Amen."

Archangel Michael

Prayer of thanksgiving Archangel Michael:

“O chosen commander of the Heavenly powers and intercessor of the human race, we offer this song of thanksgiving to you, who are delivered from the sorrowful: you, as you stand before the Throne of the King of Glory, free us from all troubles, and with faith and love we call to you in praise: Rejoice, Michael, the great Archangel, with all the Heavenly powers."

After meal

Almost every religion touches on the topic of eating food to one degree or another. Of course, food is essential as a support for the existence of the mortal body, but equally food sometimes becomes a motivator for licentiousness.

Many traditions strive to honor fasting in every possible way, condemn gluttony and instruct people to eat food only to maintain the body, but not for their own pleasure and pleasure of the taste. Including Christianity, which spiritualizes the process of eating with various prayers. The most common one is considered to be read after eating, it sounds like this:

“We thank Thee, Christ our God, for Thou hast filled us with Thy earthly blessings; Do not deprive us of Your Heavenly Kingdom, but because You have come among Your disciples, Savior, give them peace, come to us and save us.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen. Lord have mercy. (Thrice) Bless."

After reading, you should wait a little at the table. However You should not eat any food after prayer. You need to wait until your next meal.

If you eat food in a public space, or at a party, then you may well limit yourself to reading to yourself. Likewise, at home, in the company of other people, you should not always observe such a ritual, especially in front of people whom you may significantly embarrass, although if such a tradition has taken root in your home, you may well follow this tradition without disturbing anyone.

Also prayers of thanksgiving can be heard, this allows you to get the right sincere and prayerful mood and adjust to the right mood.

“According to your faith, be it done to you,” said Jesus Christ. Faith can become a reliable support for a Christian in this world. The realization that a person is not alone and that he always has someone to turn to fills the heart and soul with hope.

Those who believe in one God have every chance of salvation and a happy afterlife. But faith alone is not enough; you need to live according to God’s commandments and reinforce it with regular prayer. Sincere prayer can fulfill your deepest desires.

In contact with

Classmates

In the harsh modern world, more and more people are turning to the Church for any help. And these are not only elderly people, but also middle-aged and even very young people. Many try to attend Sunday services, listen to prayers, observe, starting every day with morning prayers and ending with evening prayers. Compliance with these rules makes a person better and stronger.

But some people don't turn to God. In the bustle of passing days, they become more and more distant from the good, pure, bright and wallow in the sins of laziness, envy and despondency. Sometimes only some emergency situation can turn such people to God.

Prayer

Everyone approaches prayer very differently. Some believe it is possible to turn to the Lord only with the words written in the prayer book. Others think that speaking in your own words will be more sincere. And some do not consider it necessary to convert at all, relying on what Christ Himself sees all human troubles and problems and will intervene without any appeal, if it is His will.

But you definitely need to pray. This is the only way to meet God and the saints and talk to them. Christ, of course, sees everything, but it was not for nothing that he gave people freedom of choice, including coping with problems as they see fit. Without turning to God, you shouldn’t hope that everything will be resolved miraculously.

The words that he will pronounce are left to the choice of the worshiper. Whether these will be excerpts from the prayer book, as at a prayer service, or your own, does not matter. It is difficult for some to express their thoughts on their own, but in the prayer book right in the table of contents it is easy to find appeals to God and various saints for each occasion . Others do not understand the Church Slavonic words of prayer, are distracted by trying to figure out their meaning. In this case, the prayer in your own words will actually turn out to be more sincere.

What prayers to pay attention to

The most powerful and miraculous prayers The following are considered to be the ones you can handle in any trouble:

  • Guardian Angel;
  • 12 apostles;
  • Life-giving Cross;
  • Theotokos (in front of the icons).

There are also special prayers, pronounced for any requests, for example:

Many famous holy people composed prayers themselves, with the words of which every person can now turn to God. The authors of the most famous and widespread of them:

  • The last Optina elders;
  • John of Kronstadt;
  • Dmitry Rostovsky;
  • Saint Ignatius Brianchaninov.

Politeness and gratitude adorn any person. These qualities must be demonstrated not only in communicating with people, but also in conversations with God. Moreover, you need to thank the Lord not only for the good, but also for the obstacles encountered on the path of life. No test comes to a person for nothing; everything happens for a reason. And Christ will never give a person more suffering than he can bear. So, if you had to meet with trouble, you need to think about why such a test was given.

For example, losing your usual job is not a reason to blame Jesus for being unfair. This is a reason to think that you need to change some aspects in your life. And this will certainly only lead to good things. Even if it seems that the incident is a real disaster and there are no advantages in it and cannot be, you should not despair. No one knows God's plans, and since He allowed some event to happen, it means it is for the benefit of man. You just need to serve a prayer service, ask for help from God and His saints. They will definitely guide you on the right path..

Prayer for health

When a person is overtaken by illness, he may begin to grumble at God for allowing it to happen. But all diseases, like any other test, are given to people for a reason. Therefore, the first thing a person needs to think about is why this happened to him. Maybe Christ allowed the disease in order to test patience. Perhaps in order for a person to finally remember the Lord. It is also likely that this happened in order to prevent an even greater misfortune or fall from grace. In any case, the correct one in such a situation will thank the Lord for everything he does and ask for healing.

Under no circumstances should medical care and operations be neglected. It is foolish to think that prayer alone will be enough to heal. It is imperative to contact doctors, because such a profession arose by the will of God.

In this regard, one story is curious. One day there was a flood in one city. So big that even houses went under water . And here is one man, barely staying above the water, earnestly asked God for help. A boat floated up to him to pick up a drowning man, but he refused to get into it because he was waiting for God's help. This ship sailed three times, but the man did not want to listen to anything and refused to sail away. So he drowned. And when he came to the Lord, he asked Him with offense why He did not save His servant. To this the Lord replied that He tried to save the man three times, but he refused three times. Thus, God sends us doctors in response to our appeal. We need to thank the Lord and begin treatment.

When to expect an answer

Jesus cannot be called by prayer, like calling a taxi by telephone. We must remember that there are seven billion people in His care, and He Himself knows when and how to respond to a particular request. People, while happy and successful, unfortunately, too rarely turn to Him with gratitude. Jesus knocks on the door of the heart, but it does not want to listen. But as soon as something goes wrong, as a person on the same day begins to seek a meeting with the Lord, read.

This attitude is wrong and ugly. Since a person made Him wait, then he himself will have to show patience and diligence. It will definitely be rewarded. But sometimes it will take a little more than a prayer said once.

Prayer of thanksgiving

Unfortunately, more and more often people resort to prayer as if it were a magic wand, with a wave of which they can fulfill their desires. But it is not the prayer that helps, but the one to whom it was addressed. So how can we forget about the prayer of thanksgiving to our Benefactor?

If a person does not have enough money for something very important to him, for example, an operation, and his boss gives him the missing large amount and does not ask for a refund, shouldn’t this person sincerely thank his employer for such a kind deed? Having learned that the patient simply took the money and spent it at his own discretion, wouldn’t those who learn about the situation condemn him? The answer is obvious, such behavior is ugly and shameful. So why is it not a shame to forget about gratitude to our God?

They pray and thank not only God, but also the saints. Many people wonder why appeals to saints are needed when you can pray directly to the Lord. The answer lies in the earthly lives of these saints. They were so pious and performed such good deeds that they were due all honor and worship. With a prayer of gratitude, we give them their due, thank them for their feat and ask for help from our senior comrades. A miracle still happens only by the will of God, and the saints simply have the power, like angels, to help lost human souls. Among the prayers of thanksgiving, the following are particularly noteworthy:

  • to the Almighty;
  • Mother of God;
  • to all saints.

Prayer to God

People should thank the Creator for their entire lives - for joys and sorrows, health and illness. We, for the most part, know so little about our Lord. Something is not entirely understandable. For example, it is difficult to imagine and understand how God can be simultaneously one and in three persons. Moreover, each of His faces has several names. In the New and Old Testaments there are 20 names of the Father, 28 names of Jesus Christ, 3 names of the Holy Spirit. There are 31 names in total, which are difficult to remember, but you don't have to. You can turn to God not only through prayers, but also in your own words. Thank Jesus for the priceless gift of life. Or you can read the following short prayer of gratitude:

We thank Thee, Lord our God, for all Thy good deeds, even from the first age to the present, in us, Thy unworthy servants (names), who were, known and unknown, about those revealed and unmanifested, even those who were in deed and in word: who loved us as and You deigned to give Your Only Begotten Son for us, making us worthy to be worthy of Your love.

Prayer to the Mother of God

Do not forget about the words of gratitude to the Mother of God. She is especially considered the patroness of women, pregnant women and mothers, but every man should also thank her. Theotokos - mother of Jesus Christ, and therefore all of humanity. It is to her that people turn to with requests for health (their own and their children’s), successful operations, family love and happiness.

The Mother of God was the most worthy woman in the entire history of the world. Kind, meek and wise, it was she who received the honor of bearing and giving birth to the Son of God. There is a legend that she extended her veil to the martyrs of hell in order to rescue them from fiery Gehenna and secretly bring them to heaven. And since her kindness and mercy are so boundless, we should often thank her for all the good things that happen to a person according to God’s will. After all, all sincere requests sent to her will certainly be fulfilled.

Prayer to the Guardian Angel

An ethereal spirit that follows a person everywhere, protects, protects and takes care of his well-being. For the fact that no terrible troubles have happened in my life, accidents, misfortunes, you need to thank the Angel. The selflessness of this kind spirit and desire to save and help must necessarily receive sincere gratitude. After all, by doing this they are doing something nice for our Guardian and expressing their understanding of his feat and gratitude for him.

It is best to also serve a prayer service to the good spirit. But as a last resort, you can at least start the day with a short prayer:

Having glorified the Lord, I pay tribute to you, my guardian angel. Glorious be you in the Lord!

Prayers to the Saints

Among the many Saints known to the Church, Nicholas the Wonderworker especially stands out. Having begun his service to God while still a child, as an adult he was already an archbishop. He is known for his selfless help to people and prayers to God for them. He asked for healing and salvation for people. Nicholas is revered in many religions. Requests addressed to this saint are usually quickly fulfilled. This means we should not forget about gratitude for the miracles performed with his assistance.

In addition to him, prayer services are most often dedicated to the following saints:

  • Harlampy;
  • John the Merciful;
  • Spyridon of Trimifuntsky;
  • Tikhon Zadonsky;
  • Reverend Alexy;
  • Xenia the Blessed;
  • Saint Mitrofan;
  • Archangel Michael;
  • Joseph the Betrothed;
  • Martyr Polyeuctus;
  • Prophet Elijah;
  • Apostle Paul.

Often a child has sincere faith, instilled in him in childhood by his parents. But when he gets older, begins to live his own life, starts a family, he may simply have neither the strength nor the time left for prayers and visiting the temple. Other urgent matters distract, and the sins of adult life begin to settle in the heart - corruption, condemnation, envy...

But we must try with all our might to prevent this.. Faith is what connects God and man every day. And prayer is a way of turning to the Higher Powers with requests or gratitude. Sincere prayer will definitely be heard, and help will not be long in coming.

For our readers: prayers of thanksgiving to our Lord Jesus Christ with detailed descriptions from various sources.

“Lord Jesus Christ our God, God of all mercy and generosity, whose mercy is immeasurable and whose love for mankind is an immeasurable abyss!

As the Lord, Master and benefactor, we glorify You, praise You, sing and magnify You and, falling down, thank You again!

And make us worthy to always thank and glorify You, together with Your beginningless Father and Your all-holy, good, and consubstantial Spirit. Amen."

"God! You take away my spiritual corruption in the power of Your immeasurable goodness, wisdom and strength, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit - the Spirit of holiness, grace;

You crown my deeds done in Your name with success... Amen.”

A prayer of gratitude to the Lord God for help, support, solutions to pressing problems, healing from illnesses - this is the gratitude that every prayer book should offer to the Creator. God is Love, and in addition to faith in Him, you must be able to give thanks.

What to say thanks for

For most people, and even those who consider themselves believers, everyday life seems dull and difficult.

Icon of Jesus Christ There seems to be absolutely nothing to express a grateful feeling of gratitude to Christ for. This happens because people have forgotten how to accept gifts and enjoy them, considering what they receive as something they should have. But each of us receives the richest treasures from God: life, love, friendship, the ability to breathe, think, give birth to children.

It was Heaven that gave us the majestic beauty of nature, rivers and lakes, steppes, mountains, trees, the moon, and heavenly bodies. And if we don’t know how to thank, we don’t receive other gifts.

If you have received what you asked for, thank the Almighty, in your own words, or better yet, in prayers.

The human soul is alive as long as faith lives. And it must be supported by prayer appeals.

It is necessary to offer thanksgiving to Jesus Christ with a pure heart and a bright soul, only then will it reach the Throne of God. And in response to the prayer book, God’s blessing and mercy will descend.

Prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord God

We thank Thee, Lord our God, for all Thy good deeds, even from the first age to the present, in us, Thy unworthy servants (names), who were, known and unknown, about those revealed and unmanifested, even those who were in deed and in word: who loved us as and you have deigned to give Thy Only Begotten Son for us, making us worthy to be worthy of Thy love.

Grant with Your word wisdom and with Your fear inhale strength from Your power, and whether we have sinned willingly or unwillingly, forgive and not impute it, and keep our soul holy, and present it to Thy Throne, having a clear conscience, and the end is worthy of Thy love for mankind; and remember, O Lord, all who call upon Thy name in truth, remember all who desire good or evil against us: for all are men, and every man is in vain; We also pray to You, Lord, grant us Your great mercy.

Prayer of gratitude to the Almighty

The Cathedral of Saints Angel and Archangel, with all the heavenly powers, sings to Thee and says: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts, heaven and earth are filled with Thy glory. Hosanna in the highest, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest. Save me, Who art thou King on high, save me and sanctify me, Source of sanctification; For from You all creation is strengthened, To You countless warriors sing the Trisagion hymn. Unworthy of You, who sits in the unapproachable light, of whom all things are terrified, I pray: enlighten my mind, cleanse my heart, and open my lips, so that I may worthily sing to You: Holy, Holy, Holy art thou, Lord, always, now, and ever and to endless ages of ages. Amen.

Song of praise of Saint Ambrose, Bishop of Milan

We praise God to you, we confess the Lord to you, the whole earth magnifies the Eternal Father to you; To you all the angels, to you the heavens and all the Powers, to you the Cherubim and Seraphim unceasing voices cry: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts, the heavens and earth are full of the majesty of Your glory, to you the glorious Apostolic face, to you the prophetic number of praise, to you the most luminous one praises martyr army, the Holy Church throughout the entire universe confesses to You, the Father of incomprehensible majesty, worshiping Your true and Only Begotten Son and the Holy Comforter of the Spirit. You, the King of Glory, Christ, You are the Ever-Eternal Son of the Father: You, having received man for the deliverance, did not disdain the Virgin’s womb; You, having overcome the sting of death, have opened the Kingdom of Heaven to believers. You are seated at the right hand of God in the glory of the Father, the Judge has come and believed. We therefore ask You: help Your servants, whom You redeemed with Your Honest Blood. Make it worthy to reign with Your saints in Your eternal glory. Save Thy people, O Lord, and bless Thy inheritance, I will correct and exalt them forever; Let us bless You all the days and praise Your name forever and ever. Grant, Lord, that on this day we may be preserved without sin. Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us: may Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we trust in Thee. In Thee, Lord, let us put our trust, may we not be ashamed forever. Amen.

Prayer of thanks upon receiving what you asked for

Thanksgiving Service

In addition to prayers, the Church practices the service of thanksgiving prayer.

Holy Bishop of Milan

How to order a prayer service

To order it you need:

  • come to the temple and write a note in the candle shop with the title “Thanksgiving prayer to Jesus Christ”;
  • enter in the column the names of the donors, only those given in the Sacrament of Baptism (in the genitive case - from whom: Nina, George, Lyubov, Sergius, Dimitri);
  • there is no need to enter the surname, patronymic, citizenship of the donor, as well as names in diminutive form (from Dashenka, Seryoga, Sashka);
  • It is recommended to assign status to names: bol. - sick, md. - infant (child under 7 years old), neg. - youth (teenager from 7 to 14 years old), warrior, nepr. - not idle, pregnant;
  • give the completed form to the candle maker and make the recommended donation (if a person is experiencing financial difficulties, then no one will demand payment from him for the donation);
  • there is no need to indicate the reason for gratitude, the Almighty knows everything and is aware of everything, He is the Knower of the Heart;
  • it is advisable to purchase a candle in church (any candle, and its price and size do not affect the quality of gratitude or the fervor of prayer);
  • on the eve of the prayer service, place it in a candlestick near the icon of Christ.

Important! Gratitude is offered to God not only for joy, happiness, health and well-being, but also for sorrows, troubles and misfortunes, for the Wrath of God and His punishment - this is a severe test and the path to Salvation.

Rules of conduct during prayer services

  1. It is necessary to be personally present when the cleric performs a prayer service and work prayerfully together with him and other parishioners.
  2. If a person is seriously ill, then one of his relatives or friends can attend the prayer service on his behalf.
  3. Being late for service is rude, to say the least. Usually the services are performed at the end of the Liturgy, and it always takes place in the morning. Therefore, you first need to clarify the start time of the prayer service.
  4. During prayer, you need to think about every word spoken by the priest and, if possible, repeat the text to yourself after it.

Important! You cannot be indifferent at the prayer service - after all, this is a personal prayer to the Lord of each parishioner who ordered the thanksgiving service.

Services in the church are performed in the Church Slavonic dialect. This language is not understood by all parishioners, so it is recommended to parse the text of the prayer service yourself in advance.

It is not necessary to look for translated literature on the shelves of libraries or in bookstores - now there is enough information on absolutely any topic on the Internet.

Often prayers of thanksgiving are read along with other ordered requirements:

  • about health;
  • about travelers;
  • pleading;
  • holy of water.

Sometimes the priest serves a general prayer service, combining all the services ordered for that day. Don't worry, the "quality" of your thanksgiving will not be diminished at all.

Jesus Christ the Great Bishop

The prayer of gratitude should take a place in the heart of every person. Its correct and sincere pronunciation can radically change your life.

She makes it clear to the Lord that the prayer book humbly accepts everything, joys and difficult trials, that Heaven gives him. Everyone knows that it is impossible to grumble at God, because obstacles in life happen when a person leads a lifestyle that is displeasing to the Almighty, which is destructive for his soul.

Advice! If everything in life does not work out the way you would like, then prayerfully thank God for everything, trust Him with all your heart, without relying on your mind.

And then the Creator will make all the paths of earthly existence straight and full of happiness.

Watch a video about prayers of thanksgiving to the Lord God.

Christians should be grateful to the Lord for every day they live. Godly believers know that every event in life is given for a reason. It is designed to teach something, to provide an opportunity for spiritual growth. A prayer of thanksgiving to Jesus Christ is part of the prayer rule for every day. But you can express recognition using different texts.

Text of a prayer of thanksgiving to Jesus Christ

What can you thank the Creator for?

A person comes into the world naked, he cannot even get his own food - his parents take care of him for many years. All earthly life: plants, animals, a roof over your head, clothing and food - everything was created by the Creator. Sometimes it seems to people that they themselves have sufficient strength, knowledge, and wisdom. But in fact, any ability is sent from above as a blessing. Not to satisfy your whims, but to benefit others.

The Bible teaches us to glorify the holy Name of God in all circumstances. Therefore, the Church composed many prayers of thanksgiving:

  • Jesus Christ - for every good deed;
  • Holy Trinity - after receiving Communion;
  • Thanksgiving prayer;
  • Akathists.

Prayer of thanksgiving after the Liturgy

The most important goal of a believer’s life is to receive forgiveness of sins in order to spend eternity with God. To do this you need to be a churchgoer. This means regularly coming to your spiritual father to confess your wrongdoings; attend church services, followed by the Sacraments. With the help of Communion, the soul is renewed, it gains strength to grow in the knowledge of God.

When the Liturgy is over, you cannot immediately run home and return to your usual sinful lifestyle. You need to go to the icons, light a candle, read this text:

Thank You, Lord, for hearing me, God’s servant (name), forgiving my sins and giving me the opportunity to survive, live and be healthy and happy. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Also, special prayers of thanks are read in the temple, but few people stay and listen attentively to them. Don't be one of the ungrateful! Do your duty to the Savior. After all, He endured the terrible agony of the cross in order to free you from slavery to sin and death.

When the request is received

As soon as unwanted events begin to occur, we rush under the arches of the temple for help. We remember the Lord, the saints and the Mother of God, begging them all to avert the misfortune. And this is absolutely correct - who else should we look for protection from, if not from the celestials? Another thing is not good: as soon as people receive what they asked for, they immediately forget the way to the church fence. But this is the very occasion when we need to offer praise to the heavenly Father.

A good manifestation of the fact that you remember God would be a thanksgiving prayer service. This means that positive changes are accepted with the understanding that it is a gift from above, and not one’s own merit. Even the most insignificant successes are a reason to say mentally: “Lord, glory to You!”

No wonder our ancestors had the custom of hanging images in front of the front door. After all, this is not for beauty at all. When setting out on the road, devout Russians crossed themselves and said short prayers to invoke God's protection. And when returning to their home, the first thing they did was thank Jesus for avoiding danger on the way. This is what modern people should do, although the current civilization seems safe, it is not at all so. There are no guarantees, existence is still a very fragile thing.

How to submit notes

The Gospel describes a case when Christ healed several people from a dangerous disease - leprosy. It is not only painful physically, but also unpleasant externally. Therefore, its carriers automatically became outcasts in society. And since they did not know how to treat leprosy at that time, it was obvious to anyone that the deliverance had a miraculous origin. But of all these sufferers, only one appreciated the Savior’s act.

In order not to be among those who are unworthy to be near the Lord, thank Him more often. To order a prayer service, you need to go to the nearest temple. There will be blank forms there, you need to take and fill out one:

  • indicate the name of the requirement;
  • write down the names of those who want to thank the Lord - these must be baptized people;
  • names are indicated in the genitive case (Natalia, Alexandra), the name given at baptism must be written (for example, not Svetlana, but Photinia);
  • before the names it is indicated: baby (for children under 6 years old), youth (from 7 to 14), sick (if the person is sick);
  • When the note is filled out, it is taken to a shop where donations are accepted.

You need to find out the time of the prayer service and come to it to pray in person. You cannot “buy off” your sacred duty. You can light candles and turn to the Lord at any time, but the general prayer service has special power; it calls on grace to everyone who is in the church.

How to pray and give thanks correctly

A prayer of thanks addressed to the Lord Jesus Christ should not be an automatic repetition of familiar words. If a priest reads them, you must watch carefully and try to repeat the petitions to yourself.

Since the services are conducted in Church Slavonic, you need to familiarize yourself with the meaning of the text in advance. This will help you understand the course of the prayer service, not stand as an indifferent witness, but participate in the general prayer. Father is not an actor, and parishioners are not spectators; everyone should pray. It is not necessary to buy a missal; now all liturgical books can be found on the Internet.

Often in many parishes different services are served one after another: prayers for health, blessing of water, thanksgiving. Don’t let this bother you - there is nothing wrong with praying for a stranger while you are waiting for “your” prayer service. But its “quality” will not change at all.

The entire prayer service, of course, cannot be learned by heart. But a short prayer composed by John Chrysostom is possible.

John Chrysostom's prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord

Then you can pronounce it in any situation:

We thank you for all Your blessings shown to us unworthy from the first day of our life to the present - we thank you for everything that we know and that we do not know, for everything explicit and implicit, revealed by deed and word, done according to our will and against our will, for everything , what happened to us unworthy, for sorrow and weakening of sorrow, for Gehenna, for torment, for the Kingdom of Heaven

Psalm of Thanksgiving

The Psalms are also good for expressing gratitude. The Word of God in itself has powerful power - it makes faith unshakable and helps a person to develop spiritually. And when praise is read to the Creator, this is truly an angelic work that will be appreciated.

Praise the Lord, my soul. I will praise the Lord in my belly, I will sing to my God as long as I am. Do not trust in princes, in the sons of men, for in them there is no salvation. His spirit will depart and return to his land. On that day all his thoughts will perish. Blessed is the God of Jacob, his Helper, his trust in the Lord his God, who created heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them, who keeps the truth forever, who brings judgment to the offended, who gives food to the hungry. The Lord will decide the chained ones. The Lord makes the blind wise. The Lord raises up the downtrodden. The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord protects strangers, He will accept the orphan and the widow, and He will destroy the path of sinners. The Lord your God will reign forever in Zion, forever and ever.

There are different periods - when everything is fine, the family is healthy, there is food in the house, there is enough money for everything, then we consider this a manifestation of God's love. Of course it is. But even in times of difficulty, the Lord does not cease to care for His children, because He is unchangeable.

Tests are sent for some purpose, which is not always clear at the moment. This is where Christian faith should be demonstrated. As the apostle wrote: “Give thanks in everything!” By following even this simple rule, you can get great spiritual benefits. God bless you!

Prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord God

We thank Thee, O Lord our God, for all Thy good deeds, from the first age to the present, in us, Thy unworthy servants (names), who were known and not known, about those who were revealed and unmanifested, who were in deed and in word:

having loved us as you have deigned to give for us your Only Begotten Son, make us worthy of being worthy of your love.

Grant with Your word wisdom and with Your fear inhale strength from Your power, and whether we have sinned willingly or unwillingly, forgive and not impute it, and keep our soul holy, and present it to Thy Throne, having a clear conscience, and the end is worthy of Thy love for mankind;

and remember, O Lord, all who call upon Thy name in truth, remember all who desire good or evil against us:

for all are men, and every man is in vain;

We also pray to You, Lord, grant us Your great mercy.

Prayer of gratitude to the Lord God from John of Kronstadt

I thank You, Lord my God, for giving me existence, for giving me birth in the Christian faith, for the Most Pure Virgin Mary, Intercessor for the salvation of our race,

for Your holy Saints praying for us, for the Guardian Angel, for public worship that supports faith and virtue in us, for the Holy Scriptures, for the Holy Sacraments,

and especially Your Body and Blood, for the mysterious grace-filled consolations, for the hope of receiving the Kingdom of Heaven and for all the blessings You have given me.

What will I bring to You, how will I thank You for Your constant, greatest mercies to me and to the rest of Your people?

For behold, every moment I am enlivened by Your Holy Spirit, every moment I breathe the air You have diffused, light, pleasant, healthy, strengthening, I am enlightened by Your joyful and life-giving light - spiritual and material;

I feed on sweet and life-giving spiritual food and the same drink, the holy Mysteries of Your Body and Blood and material sweet food and drinks;

You dress me with a bright, beautiful royal robe - with Yourself and material clothes, you cleanse my sins, heal and cleanse my many and fierce sinful passions;

You give my soul truth, peace and joy, space, strength, boldness, courage, strength, and you endow my body with precious health;

You teach my hands to fight and my fingers to fight with the invisible enemies of my salvation and bliss, with the enemies of the holiness and power of Your glory, with the spirits of wickedness in high places;

For all this I thank, glorify and bless Thy all-good, fatherly, all-powerful power, O God, our Savior, our Benefactor.

But be known by Your other people as You appeared to me, O Lover of Mankind, so that they may know You, the Father of all, Your goodness, Your providence, Your wisdom and power, and glorify You, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages.

Prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord from Saint Ambrose

We praise God to you, we confess the Lord to you, the whole earth magnifies the Eternal Father to you;

To you all the angels, to you the heavens and all the powers, to you the Cherubim and Seraphim incessant voices cry:

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of hosts, the heavens and earth are full of the majesty of Your glory,

To you the glorious Apostolic face, to you the prophetic number of praise, to you the bright martyr’s army praises,

Throughout the entire universe, the Holy Church confesses to You, the Father of incomprehensible majesty, worshiping Your true and Only Begotten Son and the Holy Comforter of the Spirit.

You, O King of Glory, Christ, You are the Ever-Essential Son of the Father:

You, having received man for the deliverance, did not abhor the Virgin’s womb;

You, having overcome the sting of death, have opened the Kingdom of Heaven to believers.

A short prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord God

As a servant of indecency, having been honored with Your blessings and gifts, Master, we earnestly flow to You, and for this we offer thanksgiving, and as the Benefactor and Creator we glorify, we cry out: Glory to You, All-Bountiful God.

Prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord God

Give thanks to Thy unworthy servants, O Lord, for Thy great good deeds upon us; we glorify Thee, bless, thank Thee, sing and magnify Thy compassion, and slavishly cry out to Thee in love: O Benefactor, our Savior, glory to Thee.

Prayer of gratitude to the Lord God for everything

Lord, I thank You for my good life, filled with bright light, for the fact that there are wonderful feelings in my soul, for the fact that I can show mercy and compassion to others.

I praise You and thank You for the fact that by listening to Your instructions I will realize all my most cherished dreams.

I thank You for the fruitful path in life You have sent me and for the opportunity to fulfill my destiny.

I am grateful to You for the fact that a calm atmosphere filled with love and mutual understanding reigns in my family, for the fact that only sincere and kind people come to my house.

I thank You for all the blessings that You give me in this life.

I enjoy life and accept the world around me with an open soul.

I believe that you will help me follow the right path and fill me with your great wisdom.

Universal prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord

Lord, I thank You for being me!

For allowing me to live this day.

For allowing me to breathe, love and rejoice in every creation You created.

Lord, I thank You for the light and love with which You tirelessly fill my cup, and I ask you to teach me to humbly accept this light poured out from You to the whole world, to all living things, without condemning or upsetting You in any way.

Lord, give me the strength to love my enemies, to bless those who hate me, to idolize those who curse and persecute me, for I myself am in them.

And may on this day and in this world my every word, every feeling, every thought and every deed become the personification of Your wisdom, Your will and Your love.

I love you, Lord!

I believe and hope that Your kingdom will abide in me and through me.

Prayer of thanksgiving to Jesus Christ

Lord Jesus Christ, our God, God of all mercy and generosity, whose mercy is immeasurable and whose love for mankind is an immeasurable abyss!

We, falling before Your greatness, with fear and trembling, like unworthy slaves, bring thanks to You for the mercies shown to us.

As the Lord, Master and Benefactor, we glorify You, praise You, sing and magnify You and, falling down, thank You again!

We humbly pray to Your ineffable mercy: just as now You have accepted our prayers and fulfilled them, so in the future let us succeed in love for You, for our neighbors and in all virtues.

And make us worthy to always thank and glorify You together with Your beginningless Father and Your all-holy, good and consubstantial Spirit.

Prayer of thanksgiving to Jesus Christ from the prayer service

Lord Jesus Christ our God, God of all mercy and generosity, whose mercy is immeasurable and whose love for mankind is an immeasurable abyss!

And make us worthy to always thank and glorify You, together with Your beginningless Father and Your all-holy, good, and consubstantial Spirit.

Prayer of gratitude to the Guardian Angel

Having thanked and glorified our Lord, the One God of the Orthodox Jesus Christ for His beneficence, I appeal to you, holy angel of Christ, Divine warrior.

I appeal with a prayer of gratitude, I thank you for your mercy towards me and for your intercession for me before the face of the Lord.

Be glorified in the Lord, angel!

Prayer of thanksgiving to the Holy Trinity

The Most Holy Trinity, the Consubstantial Power, all the good Wine that we will repay You for everything that You have rewarded us sinners and unworthy before, before you came into the world, for everything that You have rewarded us every day, and that You have prepared for all of us in the world to come !

It is fitting, then, for so much good deeds and generosity, to thank Thee not just in words, but more than in deeds, for keeping and fulfilling Thy commandments: but we, being aware of our passions and evil customs, have cast ourselves into countless sins and iniquities from our youth.

For this reason, as unclean and defiled, do not just appear before Thy Trisholy face without coldness, but below Thy Most Holy Name, utter what is sufficient for us, even if You Yourself had not deigned, for our joy, to proclaim that the pure and righteous are loving, and sinners who repent are merciful and kindly accept.

Look down, O Divine Trinity, from the height of Your Holy Glory upon us, many sinners, and accept our good will, instead of good deeds;

and give us the spirit of true repentance, so that, having hated every sin, in purity and truth, we may live until the end of our days, doing Your most holy will and glorifying Your sweetest and most magnificent name with pure thoughts and good deeds.

Prayer of thanksgiving to Archangel Gabriel

Holy Archangel Gabriel, who brought inexpressible joy from Heaven to the Most Pure Virgin, fill my heart, overwhelmed by pride, with joy and joy.

Oh, great Archangel of God Gabriel, you announced to the Most Pure Virgin Mary the conception of the Son of God.

To proclaim to me, a sinner, the day of the terrible death of the Lord God for my sinful soul, may the Lord forgive my sins;

and the demons will not keep me from the ordeal for my sins.

O great Archangel Gabriel!

Save me from all troubles and from serious illness, now and ever and forever and ever.

Prayer of thanksgiving to the Blessed Virgin Mary

Theotokos, Christian Helper, Your servants, having received Your intercession, cry out to You in gratitude:

Rejoice, Most Pure Virgin Mother of God, and always deliver us from all our troubles with Your prayers, One who will soon appear.

Prayer of thanksgiving to Our Lady of Kazan

Oh, Most Holy Lady Theotokos, Queen of Heaven and earth, the highest angel and archangel and the most honest, pure Virgin Mary of all creation, good Helper to the world, and affirmation for all people, and deliverance for all needs!

Look now, O All-Merciful Lady, upon Thy servants, praying to Thee with a tender soul and a contrite heart, falling with tears to Thee and worshiping Thy most pure and wholesome image, and asking for Thy help and intercession.

Oh, All-Merciful and Most Merciful Pure Virgin Mary!

Look, O Lady, at Your people: for we are sinners and imams of no other help, except for You and from You, Christ our God, born.

You are our intercessor and representative.

You are protection for the offended, joy for the grieving, refuge for the orphans, guardian for widows, glory for virgins, joy for those who cry, visitation for the sick, healing for the weak, salvation for sinners.

For this reason, O Mother of God, we resort to You, and looking at Your Most Pure Image with the Eternal Child held in Your hand, our Lord Jesus Christ, we bring tender singing to You and cry out: have mercy on us, Mother of God, and fulfill our request, for all that is Your intercession is possible, for glory is due to You now and ever and unto ages of ages.

Oh, Most Holy Lady and Lady Theotokos!

With fear, faith and love, falling before Your honorable icon, we pray to You: do not turn Your face away from those who come running to You.

Pray, merciful Mother, to Thy Son and our God, the Lord Jesus Christ, to preserve our country peacefully and to keep His holy Church unshakable from unbelief, heresies and schism.

There are no imams of any other help, no imams of other hope, unless You, Most Pure Virgin, are You the all-powerful Helper and Intercessor of Christians.

Deliver all who pray to You with faith from the falls of sin, from the slander of evil people, from all temptations, sorrows, troubles and from vain death.

Grant us the spirit of contrition, humility of heart, purity of thoughts, correction of sinful lives and the abandonment of sins, so that we all sing gratefully of Your greatness, we will be worthy of the Heavenly Kingdom, and there with all the saints we will glorify the Most Honorable and Magnificent Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Prayer of gratitude before the icon of the Mother of God “Vse Tsaritsa”

O most pure Mother of God, All-Tsarina!

Hear our much-painful sigh before Your miraculous icon, brought from the Athos inheritance to Russia, look upon Your children, those suffering from incurable ailments, who fall to Your holy image with faith!

Just as a winged bird covers its chicks, so You, now and ever-living being, have covered us with Your multi-healing omophorion.

There, where hope disappears, awaken with undoubted Hope.

There, where fierce sorrows prevail, Appear with Patience and Weakness.

There, where the darkness of despair has settled in the souls, let the ineffable light of the Divine shine!

Comfort the faint-hearted, strengthen the weak, grant softening and enlightenment to hardened hearts.

Heal Your sick people, O all-merciful Queen!

Bless the minds and hands of those who heal us;

may they serve as an instrument of the Almighty Physician Christ our Savior.

As if You are alive and present with us, we pray before Your icon, O Lady!

Extend Your hand, full of healing and healing, Joy to those who mourn, Consolation to those in sorrow, so that with miraculous help we soon receive, we glorify the Life-Giving and Indivisible Trinity, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever.

All-merciful, venerable Mother of God, Pantanassa, All-Queen!

I am not worthy, but come under my roof!

But as the merciful and gracious Mother of God, say the word, may my soul be healed and my weak body strengthened.

You have an invincible power, and all your words will not fail, O All-Tsaritsa!

Beg for me!

You begged for me.

May I glorify Your glorious name always, now and forever.

Nikolai Ugodniche!

Prayer of gratitude to Spyridon of Trimifuntsky

O all-blessed Saint Spyridon, great servant of Christ and glorious miracle worker!

Stand in Heaven before the Throne of God with the face of an Angel, look with your merciful eye on the people standing here and asking for your strong help.

Pray to the compassion of God, the Lover of Mankind, not to judge us according to our iniquities, but to deal with us according to His mercy!

Ask us from Christ and our God for a peaceful and serene life, mental and physical health, earthly prosperity and all abundance and prosperity in everything, and may we not turn the good things given to us from the generous God into evil, but into His glory and the glorification of your intercession !

Deliver all who come to God through undoubted faith from all spiritual and physical troubles, from all yearnings and the devil’s slander!

Be a comforter to the sad, a physician to the sick, a helper in times of adversity, a protector to the naked, a protector to widows, a protector to the orphans, a nourisher to the baby, a strengthener to the old, a guide to the wandering, a sailing helmsman, and intercede to all those who require your strong help, even useful for salvation!

For if we are guided and observed by your prayers, we will reach eternal rest and together with you we will glorify God, glorified in the Trinity of Saints, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages.

Prayer of gratitude to Panteleimon the healer

Prayer of gratitude to Sergius of Radonezh

O venerable and God-bearing Father Sergius!

Look upon us (names) mercifully and, those who are devoted to the earth, lead us to the heights of heaven.

Strengthen our cowardice and confirm us in faith, so that we undoubtedly hope to receive all the good things from the mercy of the Lord God through your prayers.

By your intercession, ask for every gift that is useful to everyone and for everyone, and through your prayers that help us, grant us all, on the day of the Last Judgment, to be delivered from the last part, and the right hand of the country to be partakers of life and to hear the blessed voice of the Lord Christ: come, blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world .

Prayer of gratitude to Seraphim of Sarov

O wonderful Father Seraphim, great miracle worker of Sarov, quick and obedient helper to all who come running to you!

During the days of your earthly life, no one was tired of you or comforted by your departure, but everyone was blessed by the vision of your face and the benevolent voice of your words.

Moreover, the gift of healing, the gift of insight, the gift of healing for weak souls has appeared abundantly in you.

When God called you from earthly labors to heavenly rest, your love ceased from us, and it is impossible to count your miracles, multiplied like the stars of heaven: for all over the end of our earth you appeared to the people of God and granted them healing.

In the same way, we cry out to you: O most quiet and meek servant of God, daring man of prayer to Him, rejecting none of those who call upon you, offer up your powerful prayer for us to the Lord of Hosts,

may he strengthen our power, may he grant us everything useful in this life and everything useful for spiritual salvation, may he protect us from the falls of sin and teach us true repentance, so that we can enter the eternal Kingdom of Heaven without stumbling,

where you now shine in everlasting glory, and there sing with all the saints the Life-Giving Trinity until the end of the age.

Lord have mercy. (Thrice)

Bless.

Lord Himself, bless the year I am beginning and all the days of my life.

Prayer of thanksgiving after the liturgy

I thank You, most heavenly King, and with all my body and soul I pray, praise, glorify, honor and exalt You, for You have vouchsafed Your Divine and auspicious grace to me, a sinner, on this day in this Divine Temple,

bloodless and verbal, by Your clergy about our sins, to see the sacrifice brought and sacrificed to You, in remembrance of the most pure Passion, the glorious Resurrection, the Ascension into heaven and the terrible return of the Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, for whose sake I pray to You:

Wash away all my sins, cleanse and forgive me, and grant me all the days of my life to remember Your good deeds and in a clear conscience to bring thanksgiving and prayers to You, to the Beginning Father with Your Only Begotten Son and Your All-Holy Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and ever and ever. forever and ever.

A prayer of thanksgiving is a prayer to the Lord God, the contents of which should be known to every Orthodox believer. Gratitude is the quality that can make a person stronger, helps him get rid of the burden of negativity, and cleanse himself of bad thoughts.

Remember that gratitude is most needed not by the person to whom it is expressed, but primarily by you. For example, one of the most common prayers of thanksgiving is an appeal to the Mother of God.

Orthodoxy teaches that prayers of thanksgiving are used to thank the saint for guiding them on the right path, surrounding them with maternal care, and allowing them to cope with life’s difficulties.

Believers know very well how effective Orthodox prayers can be. Heavenly forces help get rid of illnesses, adversities, sorrows, failures, problems in the family, solve love troubles, and for all this you need to learn to thank them. Unfortunately, most of us turn to God only when we are in need, but if you learn to listen to God and thank the heavenly powers for what you have, your happiness will know no bounds.

Description of some prayers

The most popular is the prayer of sincere gratitude to the Lord. In order to read it, it is not necessary to go to church, but Orthodox Christians are recommended to attend church at least sometimes. The best option would be to stand in front of the icon of Jesus Christ and read the words of gratitude.

“We thank Thee, Lord our God, for all Thy good deeds, even from the first age to the present, in us, Thy unworthy servants (names), who were, known and unknown, about those revealed and unmanifested, even those who were in deed and in word: who loved us just as you were willing to give your only begotten Son for us, grant us also worthy of Your love. Grant with Your word wisdom and with Your fear inhale strength from Your power, and whether we have sinned willingly or unwillingly, forgive and not impute it, and keep our soul holy, and present it to Thy Throne, having a clear conscience, and the end is worthy of Thy love for mankind; and remember, O Lord, all who call upon Thy name in truth, remember all who desire good or evil against us: for all are men, and every man is in vain; We also pray to You, Lord, grant us Your great mercy.”

Prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord God

“The council of saints, Angels and Archangels, with all the heavenly powers, sings to Thee, and says: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts, heaven and earth are filled with Thy glory. Hosanna in the highest, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest. Save me, Who art thou King on high, save me and sanctify me, Source of sanctification; everything is from you the creation is strengthened, unto you countless warriors sing the thrice-holy hymn. Amen."

No less effective is the prayer of St. Basil the Great, which allows one to more succinctly express gratitude to the heavenly powers.

Prayer of gratitude to Basil the Great

“Master Christ God, King of the ages, and Creator of all, I thank Thee for all the good things He has given me, and for the communion of Thy most pure and life-giving Mysteries. I pray to Thee, O Kinder and Lover of Mankind: keep me under Thy roof, and in the shadow of Thy wing; and grant me a clear conscience, even to my last breathing out, it is worthy to partake of Your holy things, for the remission of sins and eternal life. For You are the living bread, the source of holiness, the Giver of good things, and we send up glory to You, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen."

You can also thank the Most Holy Lady Theotokos, who is one of the most famous saints. Every Orthodox Christian must have her icon at home, so praying to her will not be difficult. It is also recommended to light a lamp or put candles.

Prayer of thanksgiving to the Blessed Virgin Mary

“O Most Holy Lady Theotokos, light of my darkened soul, hope, protection, refuge, consolation, joy, I thank Thee, for Thou hast vouchsafed me, unworthy, to be a partaker of the Most Pure Body and Honest Blood of Thy Son. But She who gave birth to the true Light, enlighten my intelligent eyes of the heart; Even You who gave birth to the source of immortality, revive me, killed by sin; Even the merciful Mother of God, have mercy on me, and give me tenderness and contrition in my heart, and humility in my thoughts, and appeal in the captivity of my thoughts; and grant me, until my last breath, to receive consecration of the most pure Mysteries without condemnation, for the healing of soul and body. And give me tears of repentance and confession, to sing and praise Thee all the days of my life, for Thou art blessed and glorified forever. Amen."

Who can benefit from prayers of gratitude?

As we have already said, despite the fact that the prayer of thanksgiving is directed primarily to the Lord, the effect of it will affect you.

Orthodox Christians who regularly offer praise to God and his Angels will definitely be able to feel positive changes in their lives.

The main thing is to remember that the sincerity of your words is of great importance, because only prayers coming from the heart will be heard, and besides, you need to learn to listen to God. Feel gratitude in your soul, and only then express it in words, in prayers. It is worth saying such a prayer at least once and you will see how calm and joyful you will feel afterwards. Orthodox prayers of gratitude will take away negative thoughts and resentments from you, and allow your heart to open to new, positive feelings. It is important to make reading such prayers a rule; it is advisable to read them daily, and then your life will be filled with joy, happiness, causeless sadness and sadness will disappear from it, and depression will be forgotten.

It is not necessary to use existing prayers; sometimes your own words of gratitude work more effectively, because the meaning of other prayers may not always be clear to us.

Some rules for reading prayers

The main thing is to remain focused on heartfelt gratitude. The best way to concentrate is, for example, in front of the icon of the saint to whom you will pray.

Priests recommend thanking the heavenly powers every morning and evening. It is not necessary to constantly turn to the same saint or Lord; this will allow you to diversify the ritual, make it more interesting, and avoid the mechanical muttering of holy words. Prayers of thanksgiving are an element without which it is difficult to imagine true faith. Words of gratitude will protect you, ward off trouble, and prevent the interference of evil forces in your life.

In Orthodoxy, it is customary to turn to God in prayer on almost every occasion. By their nature, prayers are classified into supplication, doxology and thanksgiving. The latter also includes a special sequence called “Prayers of Thanksgiving for Communion.” They will be given below in Russian translation, accompanied by a brief commentary.

Opening Prayer

These prayers are read, as the name suggests, after communion. They are not included in the rites of the liturgy, and are expected to be read at home. However, in practice, the text of the prayer is most often read in church after the service is over.

It begins with the words “Glory to you, God,” repeated three times.

First prayer

The first prayer of gratitude to the Lord God sounds like this:

“I thank you, Lord, my God, for you did not abandon me, a sinner, but deigned me to partake of your shrines. I thank you that you deigned me to partake of your heavenly and most pure gifts. But, the philanthropic Lord, who died for us and who has risen and given us these terrifying and life-creating sacraments for the good and sanctification of our souls and bodies, make them a source of healing for my soul and body. May they protect me from every enemy and enlighten the eyes of my heart. They will give me peace in my soul, true faith, love, devoid of hypocrisy, fill me with wisdom, help me to keep your commandments. May they apply your grace to me and lead me into your kingdom. I, protected by them in your holiness, will constantly remember. of your grace and not for my own sake, I will begin to live, but for the sake of you, our ruler and benefactor. And, having lived my life, hoping for eternal life, I will achieve eternal peace, where the voice of those celebrating is constantly heard and the apparently endless rapture of those who contemplate your unspeakable goodness. Because you are the true desire and unspeakable joy of those who love you, Christ our God. And all creation sings to you forever. Amen!".

As the context suggests, this is a prayer of gratitude to Jesus Christ, who in the Orthodox Church is revered as God in the literal sense of the word. The next prayer is dedicated to him.

Second prayer

This prayer of thanksgiving to Jesus Christ is attributed to the hand of St. Basil the Great.

“Lord, Christ God! King of the ages and creator of everything! I thank you for all the good that you have given me, and for the communion of your most pure and life-giving sacraments. I beg you, good and loving people, keep me under your care and under the shadow of your wings. Grant me, in purity of conscience, until my very last breath, in dignity, to partake of your holy things for the sake of remission of sins and eternal life. Because you are the bread of life, the source of holiness, the dispenser of blessings, and to you I send glory with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now. and always and forever and ever!”

The next prayer of thanks after communion, like the first two, is also addressed to Christ. In general, in the entire sequence, there are four of them, and the meaning in them is approximately the same - thanksgiving for the gift of the sacrament. Therefore, when they want to reduce the rank, they choose one of them and omit the rest.

Third prayer

This prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord God is believed to belong to Saint Symeon Metaphrastes.

“Having given me your own flesh for food, you are fire! You burn the unworthy, but you did not sleep on me, my creator! Then penetrate into all parts of my body, into all joints, into the belly, into the heart. Incinerate the thickets of all my sins. Cleanse my soul and make my thoughts holy. Enlighten me with your fear. Cover me forever, protect me from any deed and word that harms my soul. Wash me and make me pure and beautiful in soul, kind, reasonable and enlightened by your light. Make me the abode of only your spirit and not at all the abode of sin. Let all evil and all passions flee from me, your temple, like from fire. I represent for myself all the saints, the angelic hierarchy, the forerunner of your wisdom. the apostles and your pure mother, removed from all filth! With their prayers, O Christ, accept me and make me, your servant, a son of light, since you are the source of our sanctification and the only good light for our souls. And to you, as God and ruler, we all send glory every day!”

The following prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord God is without authorship. In addition, of all four, it is the shortest.

Fourth Prayer

This prayer of gratitude to the Lord God sounds like this:

“May your holy body, O Lord Jesus Christ, our God, become for me the source of eternal life! And your honored blood - the remission of sins. And may this thanksgiving become for me a source of joy, health and prosperity. When will your awesome second coming come , you deign me, a sinner, to stand to your right in your greatness, through the prayers of your most pure mother and all the saints."

Fifth prayer

This prayer of thanksgiving after communion is dedicated to Our Lady.

“All-holy Lady, Mother of God, the light of my darkened soul, my hope, protection, refuge, source of consolation, my joy! I thank you for deigning me, despite my unworthiness, to become a partaker of the most pure body and honored blood of your son. But she who gave birth to the light truth, enlighten my inner eyes of the heart. And, as the one who gave birth to the source of immortality, revive me, killed by sin, O mother, whose womb is filled with goodness and love, give me a contrite heart and humility in thoughts and bring me back. from the captivity of my sinful thoughts. Honor me until my very last breath, without condemnation, to receive sanctification from the most pure mysteries for the healing of soul and body, and grant me tears for repentance and correction, so that I can sing and glorify you all the days of my life, for you are. blessed and full of glory throughout all ages!

This is where the prayers of thanks actually end. Next in order are several more texts that have a broader meaning. For example, the following text is a prayer of gratitude to God for help, taken from the Bible, where it was put into the mouth of one of the righteous who were preparing to face death after fulfilling their destiny. The dying prayer is included in this rite as evidence of the communicant’s readiness to go to God if this suddenly happens for any reason.

Sixth prayer

“On this day you send your servant away in peace, O lord, in accordance with your words. Because my eyes have seen the salvation that came from you, which you prepared before your face for all people. The light of revelation to the nations and the glory of your inheritance - Israel.” .

This is a prayer read at the funeral service, as well as during every evening service.

Trisagion

But this short and very ancient prayer comes from Byzantium. According to legend, it was not composed by anyone, but it was sung by angels during an earthquake in the city, of which one of the children received a vision. Since then it has been read at every Orthodox service.

It sounds like this:

“Holy God, holy strong, holy immortal, have mercy on us. It is read according to tradition three times.” This is followed by the words: “Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. And today and always and forever and ever. Amen.” This is what is commonly called “Glory today.”

Prayer to the Trinity

This is followed by another prayer, recited at each service. This is a short prayer to the Trinity.

“All-Holy Trinity, have mercy on us! Lord, cleanse us from our sins. Master, forgive us our iniquities. Holy One, condescend to us and heal us from our weaknesses, for the sake of your name. Lord, have mercy!” This is followed by "Glory and Today".

"Our Father"

The next prayer in order is the famous “Our Father.” We will not provide the text of the prayer, since this is not necessary.

Closing Prayers

At the very end there are a few more short texts. Firstly, these are the so-called troparion and kontakion to the saint whose liturgy was served, that is, the saint whose pen the text of the liturgy was served belongs to. Since there are many liturgies, the troparia will change. And therefore we will not present them here.

At the very end, “Lord, have mercy on us,” “Glory today,” and this text is read twelve times: “With honor surpassing the cherubim and glory without comparison eclipsing the seraphim, who in virginity gave birth to God the Word, we honor you as the true Mother of God!” .
