How much is an iPad tablet 4 cheap. How to distinguish iPad generations. Premium but affordable ipad

Apple iPad is one of the very first and, of course, the most fashionable and stylish tablet computer of today's reality. The furor was provided even with the launch model of 2010 - however, one should not expect anything else.

Dawn of the iPad era

For the first time, the idea of creating an iPad was voiced in 2000. The world learned the intriguing name of the gadget - "prototype 035". After 4 years of intense work on the design, the external concept of the device appeared before the eyes of the user. As further practice has shown, it became the basis for the implementation of the first generation of the iPad.

Despite the fact that for the first time the iPad began to be sold in large quantities since 2010, the public managed to see its first pictures back in 2005. The images were released during a lawsuit between Apple and Samsung - as evidence that the first brand began to develop an iPad prototype long before the rights to the patent appeared. By the way, the date of the decision coincided with the official launch of the iPad. Competitor of the "apple" company paid compensation for the illegal use of ideas.

iPad line: hype and revolutionary

Apple was far from the first ideologue to develop: before that, prototypes of the first tablet computers appeared both in sci-fi movies and on store shelves. In particular, companies such as ASUS, Sony, HTC, Acer and Nokia have tried to implement the idea of a computer with a sensitive screen without a mechanical keyboard. However, all these devices were bulky, could not boast of particularly wide functionality, and most of them still needed to connect an additional keyboard.

iPad first generation - a pioneer in the lineup

The first iPad model was shown in early 2010. A significant event took place in the city of San Francisco. The invention was still unfamiliar to the audience and the company embodied in the iPad a minimum number of their own ideas. Thus, the audience got the opportunity to "feel" the product and evaluate it, and the developers - to analyze the feedback and understand in which direction they should move on.

Distinctive features of the iPad of the first generation are:

  1. Large device thickness: 13mm;
  2. Wide side edges;
  3. Single color composition: black "front" and back silver panel;
  4. Weight in 680 gr.

Advantages:

  • accelerometer;
  • A sensor that reacts to the level of illumination.

In turn, critics noted the following shortcomings:

  • lack of a camera;
  • not very powerful processor.

Since the spring of 2011, the device is not available for sale.

iPad ll generation - on the wave of fame

The "tablet" of the second generation was presented twelve months later - on March 3, 2011, in the same San Francisco. And already on May 11, its global implementation began, and the novelty “reached” the CIS countries on May 27, 2011.

It is worth noting that during the start of sales, the interest of users was fueled even by resellers selling their positions in queues for the device (for example, there were stories about prices up to $ 800 for a place at the head of the line to the Apple store). In addition, analysts noted that as many as 70% of users were buying a tablet for the first time (thereby increasing Apple's share in technology and innovation).

Distinctive features:

  1. The body part has become more streamlined;
  2. The sound "moved" to the back side and was placed under a protective perforated grille;
  3. Before the release of the “airy” iPad Air, the 2nd generation tablet was considered the lightest and thinnest in the world.

III generation iPad under (or The New iPad)

Another variation - this time the 3rd in a row - was "born" on March 7, 2012. In this version, Apple decided to move away from the numbering of devices and thought that it would be more logical to give them names. According to the official presentation, this was done in order to avoid associations among users "the larger the number, the better the product." Trade started two months later - on May 16, the gadget “arrived” in the CIS at the end of the same month.

Date withdrawn from sale: November 2012.

IV generation (or iPad with Retina Display)

The 4th iPad from the line was shown to the world in San Jose in 2012 (October 23). Basically, this variation of the tablet turned out to be a modified variation of the previous, “third” model.

Distinctive features:

  1. "Pumped" USB-connector Lightning.
  2. Implementation of three representatives of the line: WiFi-model, "American" and Cellular. The difference between all three was to support different bands of LTE networks.

iPad Air - weightlessness of your favorite gadget

After the success of the classic iPad, the firm opted to create a lightweight replica of its acclaimed first-born, the iPad Air. The public got acquainted with the device on October 22, 2013, at the Center for Contemporary Arts (San Francisco) under the slogan "We still have a lot to tell." The public immediately fell in love with "weightlessness", and after four weeks iPad Air began to occupy 3% of the sale of all apple tablets.

Distinctive features of the novelty are:

  1. Narrower screen bezels;
  2. Changed parameters: the overall length of the gadget has decreased by 3 mm, the thickness - by 5.5 mm, and the width - by 20.5 mm;
  3. There are now two stereo speakers on the back of the device;
  4. The device provided one built-in microphone;

iPad mini line

The announcement of the Apple iPad Mini provoked a mixed reaction among the public. The main prerequisite for skeptical views was the statements of the company itself, which previously claimed that "tablets" with a small diagonal are inconvenient and not quite suitable for full-fledged, comfortable operation. However, a mini version of the popular iPad was created and presented. Despite some "compressed" characteristics (the first mini-iPads, for example, did not have retina glass), the compact version became popular and almost immediately found its fans. The main advantages of the line are, of course, modest dimensions, as well as the relatively budgetary cost of the models.

iPad Mini: always with you

A small replica of the popular iPad was first introduced to the public on October 23, 2013 in San Jose. In general, the iPad Mini is a small iPad 2: the device is endowed with almost all the characteristics of an older brother.

Distinctive features:

  • Narrower bezels around the display (compared to early representatives);
  • The entire gadget is made completely in one color;
  • Volume buttons were first introduced as separate keys.

Advantages:

  • Lightning port;
  • 4G module;
  • Advanced selfie camera;
  • 8 or more hours of work with relatively modest initial data.

  • Thanks to the “retina”, the picture has become many times better;
  • The top variation of this iPad was equipped with a large memory - 128 GB, which could already be compared with the "adult".

iPad Mini 3: the perfection of your favorite model

After the 2nd "Mini", the line gained very good fame, which "hurried" the creation of the third mini-generation a year after the release of its predecessor.

Key features:

  1. In the main color palette, a golden body color was added;
  2. A small change in the details: the color edging the Home key has changed, which now was the same shade as the body.

iPad Mini 4: power in a compact size

The main advantages and differences from earlier models:

  1. Stronger hardware "stuffing": this one is endowed with two gigabytes of "RAM", an Apple A8 processor, as well as an M8 coprocessor;
  2. The mute and lock switch has moved from the device directly to the Control Panel;
  3. There was an accelerated shooting, now allowing you to shoot video at a frame rate of 120 fps;
  4. The battery capacity was 5124 mAh (while the predecessors could offer 6471 mAh). Nevertheless, this did not affect the operating time in any way: due to the low power consumption, the device can also be used for up to ten hours;

The tablet computer from the famous Apple company is simply called the iPad. Apple has been a longtime leader in the smartphone and tablet segments. Representatives of the company are confident that the iPad is an ideal gadget for entertainment and work.

Place of purchase question

You can buy both traditional stores and online. The latter option is preferable, since the choice is richer, and the prices are lower.

Online stores in Moscow offer lines of past years and new Apple tablets: iPad Air, iPad Mini, iPad New, iPad Pro. Users show great interest in the product, even despite the high price tag. The Aport catalog contains many stores offering Apple tablets - you can also compare the specifications of the tablets here. After studying the functionality, compare the cost to choose the best online store.

Functionality and features:

  • there is 3G support;
  • Apple iPad interface is intuitive, not overloaded;
  • all modern multimedia features;
  • access to a huge catalog of applications;
  • fingerprint scanner;
  • STYLISH case made of glass and aluminum;
  • IPS screen, multi-touch, capacitive;
  • the amount of internal memory is 16, 32 or 64 GB;
  • 30-pin port is used for synchronization;
  • the thickness of the body does not exceed the thickness of the pencil;
  • the battery life is more than a month in standby mode, and in continuous operating mode - about 10 hours;
  • two excellent quality cameras
  • The high productivity of the device is provided by the IOS operating system.

The range is updated almost every year. Changes occur in design and “stuffing”. So, the Pro model, which was released in 2015, became the first with a screen diagonal of 12.9 and a resolution of 2732 x 2048. In addition, the sound quality has improved markedly thanks to four speakers. The True Tone function adjusts the temperature of the image, so the eyes do not get tired when working at night.

The high-performance Apple tablet will favorably emphasize business style, will serve without fail in work and study, in travel and creativity.

5 / 5 ( 1 vote)

To trace the development of tablets, you need to know the history of their creation. By examining all the generations of the "iPad", one can understand in which direction the tablet PC industry is heading.

iPad 1

Entered the market in 2010. It was a real revolution in the market of electronic devices. None of the tablet PC models available at that time could boast of such parameters (IPS, 1GHz processor, 10 inches diagonal, etc.).

But it was an "experimental" model, which had a number of flaws. Many complained about the short battery life. Others did not like the too “thick” dimensions of the device and the lack of a camera.

But the body turned out to be successful. Rounded edges paired with stylish buttons on the sides made up the unique design of the iPad.

Technical specifications:

  • display: 9.7 inches diagonally, resolution 768x1024;
  • processor: 1 core per 1000 megahertz;
  • no camera;
  • memory: 257 megabytes of RAM, from 16-64 ROMs.

iPad 2

The second generation of iPads, released in 2011. The model was distinguished by greater performance and fewer flaws than its predecessor.

Innovations include:

increased RAM (up to 512 megabytes);

the presence of two cameras;

dual-core processor;

gyroscope.

This time there were two versions of the tablet, different colors (with a black or white frame).

Characteristics:

  • screen: diagonal 9.7, resolution 768x1024;
  • camera: 0.69 and 0.3 megapixels;
  • memory: 512 megabytes of RAM, from 16-64 built-in.

iPad 3

A new model came out in 2012.

What got better:

increased display sharpness;

powerful battery;

built-in protective glass Retina;

improved camera.

In design, the changes affected only the lens itself (its dimensions). It was possible to distinguish the third generation of the iPad from it.

Technical indicators:

  • display: 9.7, resolution - 1536x2048 pixels, Retina protective glass;
  • processor: two cores at 890 megahertz;
  • camera: 5 and 0.3 megapixels;
  • Memory: 1 GB of RAM, 16-64 GB of internal memory.

iPad 4

In the fall of the same 2012, the "apple" company announced 2 varieties of the device, and one of them was the iPad of the fourth series.

The design has not undergone any changes, except for the updated Lightning connector for connecting to a PC and charger. The port became more compact and relieved users of the "wrong side" problem. Now the cable was inserted in either direction.

The technical parameters have improved somewhat: an updated processor and graphics module. The model has got a new front camera - now 1.2 megapixels.

Characteristics:

  • screen: 9.7, resolution - 1536x2048 pixels;
  • processor: two cores at 1.4 megahertz;
  • camera: 5 and 1.2 megapixels;
  • Memory: 1GB RAM, 16GB to 128GB ROM.

iPad mini

The second model announced was the iPad mini. The first model of "reduced" tablets from the company.

By technical specifications iPad mini is the second iPad, but with a Lightning port, a new selfie camera and, more relevant at that time, a 4G module.

The disadvantage of the model was the display resolution (only HD) and a weak battery. But, if you remember that this is a "mini" model, then the performance is quite acceptable (up to eight to ten hours without recharging).

The design has undergone some changes. To reduce the dimensions of the device, I had to cut the frames around the edges. The body was completely painted in one color. The sound adjustment keys have become voluminous (made in the form of independent buttons).

Feature of iPad mini:

  • screen: 7.9, resolution - 768x1024 pixels;
  • processor: dual-core at 890 megahertz;
  • camera: 5 and 1.2 megapixels;
  • memory: 512 megabytes of RAM, 16-64 gigabytes of ROM.

iPad Air

In 2013, the company made a revolution. Apple managed to combine a three-dimensional display and small dimensions.

The design of the model resembles an enlarged iPad mini. Due to the trimmed frames, the dimensions of the tablet have become smaller, but the diagonal has remained the same as that of the fourth generation iPad.

Among the innovations: support for LTE and third generation networks. Stereo speakers were added to the model, located at the bottom of the case.

Technical specifications:

  • display: 9.7, resolution - 1536x2048 pixels;
  • processor: dual-core at 890 megahertz;
  • memory: RAM - 1 gigabyte, ROM - from 16 to 128 gigabytes.

iPad mini 2

The second series of mini iPads, no different in appearance from the iPad mini 1. On the technical side, everything is different.

The new version is equipped with an improved display, with protective glass Retina, and the latest battery, which added several hours of battery life.

Technical indicators:

  • processor: dual-core at 890 megahertz;
  • camera: main - 5 megapixels, front - 1.2 megapixels;
  • memory: 1 gigabyte of RAM, ROM - from 16 to 128 gigabytes.

iPad Air 2

The model was released in 2014. The new Air model featured a built-in fingerprint scanner, a thinner body and a powerful processor, as well as an increased amount of RAM (3 gigabytes). The main camera has grown to 8 megapixels.

Apple has released three colors: silver, gold and gray color.

Technical side:

  • display: 9.7 inches, screen - 1536x2048 pixels;
  • processor: three cores at 1.5 gigahertz;
  • camera: main - 8 megapixels, front - 1.2 megapixels;
  • memory: 3 gigabytes of RAM, ROM - 16-128 gigabytes.

iPad mini 3

Due to the popularity of smaller iPad models, the company felt it necessary to release the third generation of iPad mini soon.

There were not so many changes:

golden color;

new visual framing for the home button;

increased processor performance.

Gadget characteristics:

  • display: 7.9, resolution - 1536x2048;
  • processor: dual-core at 1300 megahertz;
  • camera: main - 5 megapixels, "for selfie" - 1.2 megapixels;
  • Memory: 1 GB RAM, from 16-128 internal memory.

iPad Pro 12.9

In fact, this is the fifth generation of the iPad. The model became the owner of the largest diagonal in the tablet PC market.

The case has 4 stereo speakers. On the left side of the tablet there is a connector for connecting the keyboard. iPad Pro dimensions allow you to use it as a small laptop.

The "pro" version boasts a 2.26 Hz processor, which is already comparable to a home PC.

An important innovation was the support for the Apple Pencil stylus, as well as the introduction of multitasking mode (for the first time in the tablet PC market).

Device Specifications:

  • display: 12.9 inches, resolution - 2048x2732;
  • processor: dual-core at 2.26 megahertz;
  • camera: 8 and 1.2 megapixels;
  • memory: 4 gigabytes of RAM, from 128-256 ROM.

iPad mini 4

The new generation of the “small” iPad can rightfully be called updated. The changes affected the technical and aesthetic side.

The thickness of the device has decreased to 6.1 millimeters. Because of this, the new iPad has lost compatibility with outdated accessories (cases, protective glasses, etc.). Removed screen orientation button.

The amount of RAM has doubled. The main camera has increased to 8 megapixels. The new graphics chip allows you to play the latest games in high quality.

The battery capacity has decreased significantly, but thanks to the energy-saving mode, the tablet can be used for the same ten hours.

Technical indicators:

  • display: 7.9 inches, resolution - 1536x2048 pixels;
  • processor: two cores at 1500 megahertz;
  • camera: 8 and 1.2 megapixels;
  • memory: 2 gigabytes of RAM, ROM: 16-128 gigabytes.

iPad Pro 9.7

The same iPad Pro, but with a standard screen. The maximum assembly of the model has acquired 256 gigabytes of RAM, an IPS-matrix with modern color reproduction, and a 2-core processor with a clock speed of 2.16 gigahertz.

Multitasking, stylus support, changing the color palette in accordance with the lighting - all the chips remained in place.

Tablet PC Features:

  • screen: diagonal - 9.7, resolution - 1536x2048 pixels;
  • processor: two cores at 2.16 gigahertz;
  • camera: 12 and 5 megapixels;
  • memory: 2 gigabytes of RAM, 32-256 gigabytes of ROM.

iPad 5

The seventh model of the iPad. The last generation did not bring any special innovations.

Of the external differences - the lack of sound control buttons. You can change the volume only through the tablet screen.

The only plus of the gadget is the increased processor power and increased performance of the graphics module.

iPad 5 Feature:

  • screen: diagonal - 9.7, resolution - 1536x2048 pixels;
  • processor: dual-core at 1800 megahertz;
  • Memory: 2 gigabytes of RAM, 32 and 128 gigabytes of ROM.

He graduated with a degree in Fundamental Informatics and Information Technology at the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov. After that, he became an expert in a well-known online publication. After a while, I decided to try writing articles on my own. He maintains a popular blog on YouTube and shares interesting information from the world of technology.

Apple introduced its first iPad in 2010, and since then, this name has been the first to come to mind of any user from any country in the world when trying to find an association with the concept of a tablet computer. We think of a tablet and the iPad immediately comes to mind, even if we are an ardent fan of Samsung or Microsoft products. In this material - the history of the development of the iPad from 2010 to 2018.

First iPad (2010)

  • Screen- 9.7 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A4;
  • Memory: 16, 32, 64 GB;
  • Colors: silver back panel, black front panel;
  • Model numbers: A1219 (Wi-Fi) and A1337 (Wi-Fi + Cellular).

The idea of creating a tablet was born by Steve Jobs back in the middle of the 2000s, but the employment of Apple engineers with iPod Touch and iPhone projects made it possible to start implementing it and release the finished device only by 2010. This is how the first iPad appeared - an intermediate link between a laptop and a smartphone, with a 9.7-inch multi-touch screen and a resolution of 1028 × 768 pixels (132 ppi).

The first iPad had a single-core Apple A4 processor with a frequency of 1 GHz and 256 MB of RAM, which looks very sad by today's standards. The tablet did not have cameras at all, although the iOS 4 it supported already provided the ability to make FaceTime video calls. Among the archaic elements, one can also mention the tray for a full-sized SIM card.

iPad 2 (2011)

  • Screen- 9.7 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A5;
  • Memory: 16, 32, 64 GB;
  • Colors:
  • Model numbers: A1395 (Wi-Fi), A1396 (Wi-Fi + Cellular), A1397 (Wi-Fi + CDMA).

So, even for the level of technology development at the end of 2010, the first apple tablet did not impress with its characteristics, to put it mildly. But already in March 2011, Apple introduced a new version of the iPad, in the description of which you can find a lot of numbers "2". The iPad 2 processor became 2-core, the RAM was installed 2 times more (512 MB), 2 cameras with a resolution of 0.3 and 0.7 megapixels appeared at once. In addition, Cellular models now support the more popular MicroSIM cards, instead of the bulky standard ones.

In 2012, Apple also released a modified version of the iPad 2 with improved battery life, which was achieved through an improved Apple A5 processor (manufactured using the 32nm process) and a larger battery.

iPad 3 (Early 2012)

  • Screen- 9.7 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A5X;
  • Memory: 16, 32, 64 GB;
  • Colors: silver back panel, black or white front panel;
  • Model numbers: A1416 (Wi-Fi), A1430 (Wi-Fi + Cellular), A1403 (Wi-Fi + Cellular, Verizon subscribers only)

The main innovation of the iPad 3 was the Retina display with a resolution of 2048 × 1536 pixels, which provided twice the picture quality - 264 dots per square inch compared to 132 dots in previous models. In addition, instead of a useless 0.7-megapixel main camera, iPad 3 was equipped with a competitive iSight optical module with a 5-megapixel matrix. The Apple A5X processor had the same two cores and a clock speed of 1 GHz, but the capacity of the RAM module was doubled again, to 1 GB.

iPad 4 (Late 2012)

  • Screen- 9.7 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A6X;
  • Memory: 16, 32, 64, 128 GB;
  • Colors: silver back panel, black or white front panel;
  • Model numbers: A1458 (Wi-Fi), A1459 (Wi-Fi + Cellular), A1460 (Wi-Fi + Cellular, MM (multi-mode))

Six months later, in October 2012, another update awaited the line of apple tablets. The main thing, from the point of view of the evolution of the lineup, was the appearance in the new iPad of an 8-pin Lightning port (before that, a wide 30-pin port was used), which is used to charge and synchronize iOS devices to this day. In addition, the iPad 4 is equipped with a faster Apple A6X processor and PowerVR SGX554MP4 graphics core, as well as a 1.2 megapixel FaceTime front camera. In February 2013, the iPad 4 went on sale with 128 GB of built-in memory.

iPad mini (Late 2012)

  • Screen- 7.9 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A5;
  • Memory: 16, 32 and 64 GB;
  • Colors:
  • Model numbers: A1432 (Wi-Fi), A1454 (Wi-Fi + Cellular), A1455 (Wi-Fi + Cellular, (multi-mode)).

The first "minicom" became another intermediate link between a smartphone and a full-sized tablet PC. iPad mini with a screen diagonal of 7.9 inches received a resolution of 1024 × 768 pixels (which corresponds to 163 ppi), as well as the Apple A5 processor, which was pretty outdated at that time. The compactness of the device was ensured by narrowed side frames, and the volume rocker was divided into two independent buttons.

iPad Air (Late 2013)

  • Screen- 9.7 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A7;
  • Memory: 16, 32, 64 and 128 GB;
  • Colors: silver back or space gray, black or white front;
  • Model numbers: A1474 (Wi-Fi), A1475 (Wi-Fi + Cellular), A1476 (Wi-Fi + Cellular, TD-LTE).

Introduced in October 2013, the “airy” name of the iPad Air was due to the compactness and lightness of the device - it became 2 mm thinner, as much as 16 mm narrower and almost 30% lighter than the previous model. Following the iPhone 5s, the new flagship of the tablet line has become the second Apple mobile gadget with a 64-bit A7 processor of its own production (in comparison with the “smartphone” counterpart, it was even overclocked by 0.1 GHz).

iPad mini 2 (Late 2013)

  • Screen- 7.9 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A5;
  • Memory: 16, 32, 64 and 128 GB;
  • Colors: silver or gray back panel, black or white front panel;
  • Model numbers: A1489 (Wi-Fi), A1490 (Wi-Fi + Cellular), A1491 (Wi-Fi + Cellular, TD-LTE)).

iPad mini 2, aka iPad mini with Retina display, was introduced at the same time as iPad Air on October 22, 2013. It is easy to guess that the main difference from the first mini-model was the high-resolution Retina screen (2048 × 1536 pixels, 326 dpi). The compact version of the tablet was also equipped with a 62-bit Apple A7 chip and an M7 motion coprocessor, thus putting it on the same shelf as the top gadgets of its time.

iPad Air 2 (Late 2014)

  • Screen- 9.7 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A8X;
  • Memory: 16, 32, 64 GB and 128 GB;
  • Colors:
  • Model numbers: A1566 (Wi-Fi), A1567 Wi-Fi + Cellular).

In the iPad Air 2, for the first time in a mobile device, Apple used the 3-core Apple A8X processor, which had a decent clock speed of 1.8 GHz, and also increased the amount of RAM to 2 GB. In addition, it was decided to abandon the specification with 32 GB of internal memory (later it was added) and implement the Touch ID fingerprint scanner expected by many users, which passed a year-long run-in on the iPhone 5s. Another long-awaited improvement is the upgrade of the main iSight camera matrix to 8 megapixels.

iPad mini 3 (Late 2014)

  • Screen- 7.9 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A7;
  • Memory: 16, 64 and 128 GB;
  • Colors:
  • Model numbers: A1599 (Wi-Fi), A1600 (Wi-Fi + Cellular).

iPad mini 3 did not receive three processor cores; in general, its filling and design are practically the same as the previous model. Of the notable innovations, only the appearance of the Touch ID fingerprint sensor and the golden color of the case can be noted.

iPad Pro 12.9" (Late 2015)

  • Screen- 12.9 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A9X;
  • Memory: 32, 128 GB and 256 GB;
  • Colors: silver, gold back or space gray, black or white front;
  • Model numbers: A1584 (Wi-Fi), A1652 (Wi-Fi + Cellular).

In September 2015, Apple introduced the first device in its line of professional tablets, which can handle many tasks previously performed exclusively on laptops and stationary PCs. The gadget received a large 12.9-inch screen with a resolution of 2732 × 2048 pixels, a 2-core Apple A9X chip with PowerVR Series 7XT graphics and an M9 co-processor, as much as 4 GB of RAM, a smart connector for connecting an equally smart keyboard, stylus support Apple Pencil and four speakers for better sound.

iPad mini 4 (Late 2015)

  • Screen- 7.9 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A8;
  • Memory: 16, 32, 64 and 128 GB;
  • Colors: silver, gold or space gray back, black or white front;
  • Model numbers: A1538 (Wi-Fi), A1550 (Wi-Fi + Cellular).

At the same time, in September 2015, the last model of the 4th generation iPad mini was shown to the public. The gadget pulled itself up to the iPad Air 2 in terms of technical characteristics, having received an Apple A8 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and an 8-megapixel camera. In addition, for the first time, the parameters of the case have been changed (for example, it has become thinner), which made a difference when buying accessories for iPad mini 4 and earlier models in the line.

iPad Pro 9.7" (2016)

  • Screen- 9.7 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A9X;
  • Memory: 32, 128 and 256 GB;
  • Colors:
  • Model numbers: A1673 (Wi-Fi), A1674/A1675 (Wi-Fi + Cellular).

The professional iPad in the usual 9.7-inch form factor is somewhat inferior to its older brother in terms of technical characteristics. It was equipped with a slightly less productive specification of the Apple A9X processor (2.16 GHz versus 2.26 GHz for the 12.9-inch model) and a halved RAM module - two gigabytes versus four. But the 9.7-inch iPad Pro was the first among all apple gadgets to receive True Tone technology, which allows the display to change the color temperature depending on the level of ambient light.

iPad 5 (2017)

  • Screen- 9.7 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A9;
  • Memory: 32 and 128 GB;
  • Colors: silver, gold or space gray back, black or white front;
  • Model numbers: A1822 (Wi-Fi), A1823 (Wi-Fi + Cellular).

In March 2017, Apple diversified its tablet line again, offering a more budget-friendly option for users who don't need iPad Pro features. The 9.7-inch gadget received a rather modest display matrix with a resolution of 2048 × 1536 (like the first generation iPad Air), an Apple A9 processor (without the "X"), an 8-megapixel main camera. At the same time, the device added in size and weight when compared with the iPad Air 2.

iPad Pro 10.5" (2017)

  • Screen- 10.5 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A9X;
  • Memory: 64, 256 and 512 GB;
  • Colors: silver, gold back or space grey, rose gold, black or white front;
  • Model numbers: A1701 (Wi-Fi), A1709 (Wi-Fi + Cellular), A1852 (Wi-Fi + Cellular, Chinese market).

Apple engineers managed to fit the 10.5-inch iPad Pro into a case comparable in size to the iPad Pro 9.7, while equipping the device with a top-end 6-core Apple A9X processor manufactured using a 10-nanometer process technology. In addition, ProMotion technology has been introduced into the tablet, which allows reaching a display refresh rate of 120 Hz.

iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2nd generation (2017)

  • Screen- 10.5 inches;
  • CPU- A10X Fusion;
  • Memory: 64, 256 and 512 GB;
  • Colors: silver, gold back or space gray, black or white front;
  • Model numbers: A1670 (Wi-Fi), A1671 (Wi-Fi + Cellular), A1821 (Wi-Fi + Cellular, Chinese market).

Like the 10.5-inch model, the second-generation iPad Pro 12.9-inch was introduced in June 2017 and mainly differed from its predecessor by the presence of a productive Apple A10X Fusion chip, as well as a display with ProMotion technology. In addition, a new 512 GB internal memory option has been added.

iPad 6 (2018)

  • Screen- 9.7 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A10 Fusion;
  • Memory: 32 and 128 GB;
  • Colors: silver, gold or space gray back, black or white front;
  • Model numbers: A1893 (Wi-Fi), A1954 (Wi-Fi + Cellular).

A year after the release of the fifth generation iPad, Apple made a minor update to the device, mainly related to performance. Visually, the tablet has not changed at all, but it has received a new Apple A10 Fusion processor, an M19 Motion co-processor and updated graphics.

iPad Pro 11" (2018)

  • Screen- 11 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A12X Bionic;
  • Memory: 64, 256, 512 GB and 1 TB;
  • Colors:
  • Model numbers: A1980 (Wi-Fi), A2013 and A1934 (Wi-Fi + Cellular), A1979 (Wi-Fi + Cellular, Chinese market).

Once again, Apple engineers have demonstrated the ability to save space - with an 11-inch Liquid Retina screen with a resolution of 2388 × 1688 pixels, the new tablet fits into the body of the previous 10.5-inch model, and even became a little thinner and lighter.

At the same time, the gadget was equipped with a top-end 8-core Apple A12X Bionic processor, Face ID facial recognition technology (TrueDepth, Portrait Mode, Animoji and Memoji) and a USB-C port for charging. Separately, it is worth noting the appearance of a version with a 1 TB drive.

iPad Pro 12.9-inch 3rd generation (2018)

  • Screen- 12.9 inches;
  • CPU- Apple A12X Bionic;
  • Memory: 64, 256, 512 GB and 1 TB;
  • Colors: silver or dark gray back panel, black front panel;
  • Model numbers: A1876 (Wi-Fi), A2014 and A1895 (Wi-Fi + Cellular), A1983 (Wi-Fi + Cellular, Chinese market).

The larger model has the same distinctive features as the 11-inch. There is also no 3.5mm headset jack, Lightning has been replaced with USB-C, the Home button along with Touch ID has given way to Face ID technology. The latter, by the way, implies the presence of another patented apple development TrueDepth, which allows you to take pictures in the Portrait mode, create Animoji and Memoji.

According to yablyk

We've ranked the best Apple iPads you can buy in 2019.

Picking the best iPad in 2019 is difficult because Apple released five new iPads last year, and there are older models that sell for less, not to mention that their names are very similar.

The best iPad will offer you the performance of a computer, the stylish design of a 2-in-1 laptop and the familiar interface of a smartphone thanks to iOS 12, but the company's tablets will soon get better with a release in a few months.

It all comes together in an attractive design that easily replaces a classic laptop for most - though not all - users.

The next factor will be the price of the iPad: the new budget iPad 9.7 2018 comes at affordable price, while performance-oriented and offer features similar to a powerful laptop. New and years offer excellent value for money, all tablets support the Apple Pencil, which will appeal to the average consumer and students.

2 | iPad Pro 12.9 (2018)

BEST IPAD AMONG LARGE TABLETS

The weight: 632 g | Dimensions: 280.6 x 214.9 x 5.9mm | OS: iOS 12 | Screen size: 12.9 inch | Permission: 2732 x 2048 pixels | CPU: A12X Bionic | Built-in memory: 64GB / 256GB / 512GB / 1TB | microSD slot: No | Battery: 9720 mAh | Main camera: 12 MP | Front-camera: 7MP

  • pros: Big screen | Unsurpassed sound quality;
  • Minuses: Battery life | Face ID quality;

The iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) is a giant monster - a monster, but in the best sense of the word, as it will easily take on half the digital tasks of your life - goodbye, mobile phone, laptop, album, mixing console, game console. It's the perfect tablet for creativity and work, with a huge screen, useful peripherals, and fast iOS.

It offers the highest processing power available on a mobile device, four speakers and a bright screen, and depending on the model, you get more storage space than you'll ever need.

The tablet doesn't offer the best battery life, so don't count on longevity. You may not be able to use it for watching movies on a long trip, or for mixing music. The tablet also charges quite slowly.

All in all, the iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) is one of the best iPads you can buy in 2019, but if you don't need its huge display, the cheaper iPad Pro 11 will save you some money and remain more portable.

3 | iPad (2018)

BEST IPAD FOR THE AVERAGE USER

The weight: 469 grams | Dimensions: 240 x 169.5 x 7.5mm | OS: iOS 12 | Screen size: 9.7 inch | Permission: 2048 x 1536 pixels | CPU: A10 Bionic | RAM: 2 GB | Built-in memory: 32 / 128 GB | microSD slot: No | Battery: up to 10 hours | Main camera: 8 MP | Front-camera: 1.2MP

  • pros: Inexpensive | Works with Apple Pencil;
  • Minuses: Educational ambitions | No Smart Keyboard

This is Apple's best iPad for the average consumer and education segment, even if it's still not the most powerful tablet from the manufacturer, it offers a great value.

The new iPad (2018) replaces the extremely similar iPad (2017) and before it the iPad Air 2 in the Apple tablet series.

It works with the Apple Pencil, giving you the cheapest way to draw on the 9.7-inch screen, although you won't be able to get a Smart Keyboard with this model, the option remains exclusive to the Pro. It also has a luxurious metal body like all Apple iPads, although it is slightly thicker than the iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro at 7.5mm.

With a built-in fingerprint scanner, iOS 12 under the hood, and up to 10 hours of battery life for web browsing or video browsing, the new iPad (2018) is an excellent media player and a good tablet in every way, as long as you don't plan to use it for demanding applications. task performance.

4 | IPAD AIR (2019)

THE BEST COMPROMISE FOR STUDENTS

The weight: 456 g | Dimensions: 250.6 x 174.1 x 6.1mm | OS: iOS 12 | Screen size: 10.5 inch | Permission: 2224 x 1668 pixels | CPU: A12 Bionic | Built-in memory: 64 GB / 256 GB | microSD slot: No | Main camera: 8 MP | Front-camera: 7MP

  • pros: Laminated Screen | Smart Keyboard support;
  • Minuses: Works with 1st generation Pencil | Old design;

The new iPad Air with a 10.5-inch screen is the perfect compromise between the entry-level iPad 9.7 and the more powerful but also expensive iPad Pro 11. In most stores in Russia, it is sold at the price of the original iPad, so it is cheaper than the iPad Pro 10.5 (2017), which he replaces, although he is not a member of the "Pro" family. However, the tablet offers several high-quality features that make it a compelling addition to your laptop.

It's the cheapest iPad that's compatible with the Apple Smart Keyboard Cover, which means you don't have to deal with fancy Bluetooth keyboards to get the most out of your tablet. It is also equipped with the Apple A12 chipset, borrowed from the iPhone XS. This is an incredibly fast tablet. Students will be able to take notes and reply to email using a tablet, but artists will hate the first-generation Apple Pencil.

5 | IPAD MINI (2019)

BEST SMALL TABLET OF 2019

The weight: 304 g | Dimensions: 203.2 x 134.8 x 6.1mm | OS: iOS 12 | Screen size: 7.9 inch | Permission: 2048 x 1536 pixels | CPU: A12 Bionic | Built-in memory: 64 GB / 256 GB | microSD slot: No | Battery: 5124 mAh | Main camera: 8 MP | Front-camera: 7MP

Sometimes what you need as a tablet is a device that's a little bigger than a phone, and the iPad Mini (2019) fits the bill. It's a sleek tablet with impressive specs, Apple's latest processor and decent battery life.

What makes the iPad Mini (2019) Apple's best tablet is the ability to use the Apple Pencil, which turns the iPad into a tiny laptop out of your pocket.

The iPad Mini (2019) is one of the best compact tablets available on the market in 2019, so if you're looking for a portable pocket machine, you can't beat the iPad Mini.

  • pros: Big screen | Huge performance;
  • Minuses A: Too expensive for some;

We love the iPad Pro for its large size, and this tablet comes closest to emulating the MacBook with its hybrid 2-in-1 form factor. It just runs iOS 12 instead of macOS.

It's the best tablet in terms of productivity and entertainment, thanks to its 12.9-inch screen, four speakers, and an iOS 12 dock, along with a multitasking interface. Apple has redesigned its Control Center interface to make app transitions easier, and the tablet is also compatible with the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard.

Biggest weakness? An iPad Pro 12.9 price and also a size that just doesn't fit everyone. But if you can afford it, and want the largest iPad size available, you'll love this tablet, it can replace a laptop for many.

7 | iPad PRO 10.5 (2017)

EXPERIENCE WITH IPAD PRO FOR CHEAPER

The weight: 469 grams | Dimensions: 250 x 174.1 x 6.1mm | OS: iOS 12 | Screen size: 10.5 inch | Permission: 2224 x 1668 pixels | CPU: A10X Fusion | RAM: 4 GB | Built-in memory: 64 / 256 / 512 GB | microSD slot: No | Battery: 8134 mAh | Main camera: 12 MP | Front-camera: 7MP

  • pros: Excellent speakers | 512 GB model;
  • Minuses: Screen raises the price | iOS does not allow you to replace the laptop;

The iPad Pro 10.5 is Apple's all-star tablet of sorts, which recently succeeded the iPad Pro 11. There's good news for the Pro 10.5, though, as the tablet is now cheaper.

The new ProMotion screen offers an extra level of fluidity in daily use – and the smaller bezels are exactly what makes the screen bigger while maintaining the overall size of a 2016 9.7-inch tablet.

This is the iPad for professionals and those who love to consume the highest quality multimedia content.

It takes advantage of the Apple Pencil and some of iOS 12's tablet features, including the docking station, Control Center, and Instant Markup with a stylus. If you invest in a recommended Smart Keyboard (keyboard), you can take your iPad Pro to the next level by avoiding jumping through hoops with Bluetooth accessories.

8 | iPad (2017)

PREMIUM BUT AVAILABLE IPAD

The weight: 469 grams | Dimensions: 240 x 169.5 x 7.5 | OS: iOS 12 | Screen size: 9.7 inch | Permission: 2048 x 1536 | CPU: A9 | RAM: 2 GB | Built-in memory: 32 GB / 128 GB | microSD slot: No | Battery: 8827 mAh | Main camera: 8 MP | Front-camera: 1.2MP

  • pros: Sound quality | Performance for the price;
  • Minuses: Apple Pencil separately | Old design;

The iPad (2017) marked a name change for Apple's tablet line, as the Cupertino-based firm dropped "Air" in favor of a clean name.

The iPad (2017) has since been replaced by the new iPad (2018), but it's still good iPad if you are looking for the most affordable Apple tablet.

The only real problem is that the new iPad (2018) doesn't cost much more, so if you can afford that price difference, the new 2018 tablet is a better buy.

9 | iPad PRO 9.7 (2016)

THE IPAD PRO THAT REMAINS THE BEST ON THE PLANET

The weight: 437 grams | Dimensions: 240 x 169.5 x 6.1mm | OS: iOS 12 | Screen size: 9.7 inch | Permission: 2048 x 1536 pixels | CPU: A9X | RAM: 2 GB | Built-in memory: 32 / 128 / 256 GB | microSD slot: No | Battery: up to 10 hours | Main camera: 12 MP | Front-camera: 5MP

  • pros: Excellent speakers | Up to 256 GB of memory;
  • Minuses: High price | Power below 12.9-inch iPad Pro;

For the traditional user, the iPad Pro 9.7 (2016) is one of the best and most versatile options out there.

The 9.7-inch screen strikes a great balance between a large bezel that is substantially larger than a phone's screen and a compact screen to keep the device portable.

And while Apple has dropped the Air moniker, measuring 240 x 169.5 x 6.1mm and weighing 437 grams, the iPad Pro 9.7 is as thin and light as the iPad Air 2.

And the Pro is there for a reason, pointing to the massive power headroom that comes with the A9X processor and 2GB of RAM, while the four speakers provide serious media potential and the excellent screen guarantees true tones, adapts color and its intensity to the environment. . Needless to say, the possibility of using the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil stylus if you want to use the tablet to its fullest.

The Apple iPad Pro 9.7 (2016) also comes with 256GB of storage if you're willing to pay to not feel constrained by the lack of a microSD slot, and it's likely to remain a powerful and versatile tablet for years to come, justifying the tablet's hefty price tag.

10 | IPAD MINI 4

APPLE'S LATEST 7" IPAD

The weight: 299 grams | Dimensions: 203.2 x 134.8 x 6.1mm | OS: iOS 12 | Screen size: 7.9 inch | Permission: 2048 x 1536 pixels | CPU: A8 | RAM: 2 GB | Built-in memory: 16 / 32 / 64 / 128 GB | microSD slot: No | Battery: 5124 mAh | Main camera: 8 MP | Front-camera: 1.2MP

  • pros: Big screen | Graceful design;
  • Minuses: Old processor | No fingerprint scanner;

Big screens aren't for everyone, which is where the 7.9-inch iPad Mini 4 comes in. The screen size means it's much more compact than Apple's larger tablets, especially since it weighs just 299 grams. Granted, it's not small enough for you to easily use it with one hand, but you'll be able to comfortably hold it for much longer than most Apple tablets, as well as toss it in your bag without difficulty.

It's also big enough for you to enjoy surfing the web or watching videos when you're away from home and the big screen, but the 7.9-inch tablet obviously won't be able to offer the same visual media consumption experience as the older ones. 9.7- and 12.9-inch Apple tablets.

The small size and lack of a Smart-Connector also make it less workable than the iPad Pro series, but the junior tablet in the series isn't designed to replace a laptop.

It's still a reasonably powerful tablet thanks to 2GB of RAM and the aging but still impressive Apple A8. The screen remains sharp, rich in color and easy to see even in bright sunlight.

The iPad Mini 4 is without a doubt the best small tablet in the series, and it also costs a fraction of the price of the Pro range, starting at $399 ($26,000). Models come in up to 128GB of storage, which you won't be limited by - although the Mini 4 doesn't have the 256GB version of the iPad Pro.
