Creation

During World War II, William Moulton Marston realized that early comic book characters were predominantly male and developed Wonder Woman as a response to such well-known heroes as Superman (Superman), Batman (Batman) and Captain America (Captain America). At home, many of her Amazon sisters called for revenge, believing their queen had been killed. Diana has established herself as the rightful leader of the Amazons no matter what they decide. While they were arguing, the Oracle announced that the gods had returned. As soon as her words shook the air, Diana was summoned to Mount Olympus. The gods declared that something was terribly wrong with the order of things. They also saw Pariah and did not understand his importance. Zeus spent most of his power simply to summon Hermes from Earth, while summoning Diana required the combined efforts of the rest of the pantheon. They told her that Donna Troy also showed up unexpectedly. It was then that a new group of beings appeared, and as if this place belonged to them. It was the Roman pantheon, led by Jupiter himself. The Roman gods announced that they had a champion to take on the Greek Wonder Woman - it was none other than Captain Marvel. Diana was forced to defend herself even when Hermes and Mercury clashed in the second round. Wonder Woman defeated Marvel. Circe began to unleash her master plan, spreading chaos across the globe.

While Wonder Woman was on Mount Olympus, Hercules traveled to Paradise Island. As soon as he got there, earthquakes began to tear the island apart. The tracks led Diana to Egypt, where she discovered Bana Maitdoll, which she believed had been destroyed. There she found Lobo, who fought the Shim'tar. When several Rogue Amazons appeared, Diana forced Lobo to fight them while she confronted the Shim'tar herself, demanding information on her mother's whereabouts. After a brutal battle, Diana was able to place the Shim'tara on the ground, only to discover her birth mother underneath the mask.

Now all the pieces of the puzzle are in place. Cheetah confronted Edwards and told him the whole truth. While she was in prison, Circe's minion, Mikos, turned her into a Cheetah, and she remained in this form all the time, although Minerva's mind remained unchanged. Circe was almost hostile towards her, but insisted on her joining the bestiamorph army. Cheetah helped Kaslak steal the necessary artifacts with which Circe could cast spells. Among the artifacts was a goblet, which Circe decided to exchange for a fake one, which fully corresponded to her plans. She also used the Renegade Amazons to discredit Diana and Themyscira. Plus, Circe hired Doctor Psycho to distract Diana. When Hippolyta touched the false Cup, she turned into a new Shim'tar. Mikos "carried" Shim'tar out of the building, but was unable to take the goblet with him after Maxi Zeus's assassins showed up. They were hired by Cheetah, who was playing her game, against Circe. Phillipa was attacked by one of the Amazons and witnessed Elina's death at the hands of the Cheetah.

Diana is not dead - not completely. Her soul was collected by Phantom Wanderer, Specter and Deadman. They told her that Klarion the Witch Boy was responsible for reversing Circe's spells. Meanwhile, Superman led the charge against Mount Olympus itself, where the confused Greek and Roman gods were ready to destroy each other. When Circe's deceit became clear, she was sent back to Limbo, where she killed Hermes. There she found Donna Troy and Diana brought back to life. The latter fought the sorceress, but this time the advantage was on the side of Wonder Woman, because Hecate left Circe. The witch was apparently killed, but Hekate was denied Diana's soul. The gods again decided to leave, but the long war was finally over.

The war was costly. Much of the island was destroyed and needed to be rebuilt, and Menallipa and the other Amazons lost their lives. The UN thankfully dropped all charges against Themyscira and Queen Hippolyta was alive and well. Diana returned to the States just in time to attend Vanessa's graduation ceremony. This turning point is also marked by the departure of George Perez as lead writer for the series.

Conflict in the House and Beyond the Stars

After Pérez left the series, the rest of the writers and artists tried to follow in his footsteps, with varying degrees of success. William Mesner-Loebs, also known as Bill Loebs, took on the role of lead writer for issues 63-100.

Wonder Woman was summoned by Superman when Brainiac seized control of Warworld and headed for Earth. Superman decided that Earth couldn't wait for this invasion, so they planned to launch a preemptive strike, for which Diana brought in many of Earth's heroes. While Batman was assembling a team to defend the Earth from any enhanced warriors, Diana traveled with Superman and the other heroes to Warworld. There she fought bravely, but her role was insignificant and unobtrusive.

Diana spent some time with Vanessa and Julia until she learned from Edward Indelicato that Cheetah had been captured in the Balkans, in a country called Pan Balgravia, by the new president, Baron Von Nastraed. Diana contacted the god Proteus just before her departure, enlisting his help to create a fake identity, Diana Prince. Lacking knowledge of the region, she decided to enlist the help of Deathstroke as well. Indelicato decided to go with her. The first place they went to turned out to be a trap and they had to fight their way through several royal guards. Grabbing one, Wonder Woman, using her Lasso, learned that the Baron had secret and fictitious prisons built throughout the country, as well as mass graves. Diana and Slade secretly went to the best restaurant in the country, where they met the Baron and got his consent to the next meeting. On the way to the meeting, Deathstroke announced that they were parting ways, which led to a showdown between him and Wonder Woman, with Diana winning. Leaving Deathstroke in the trunk of the car and Indelicato guarding her, Diana broke into the Baron's castle, but he was not as naive as they expected and was waiting for her with several demonic bandits.

Deathstroke quickly recovered and at this time some of his "friends" showed up as support. Wonder Woman was thrown into a magical cage, but managed to escape. Barbara Minerva, restored to her human self, was in a cage next to Diana; she was very weak from the long torture. She explained that the demon ruler of this place needed a strong female host for his assistant. The Baron and his "assistant", Mister Drax, began their demonic ritual when Deathstroke appeared on the scene. While Wonder Woman fought Drax, Slade went after the Baron. Minerva, drinking some of the spilled blood, turned into a Cheetah and "dived" into the portal that Drax had opened, sealing it and destroying Drax himself. The Baron vanished into thin air after Deathstroke stabbed him in the chest - at least the country was free again.

Wonder Woman was ready to testify at Indelicato's hearing, but no charges were brought against him. Leaving the police station, Diana met a distraught woman who claimed that her daughter had been kidnapped by her husband. This man ended up on the wrong side of several drug dealers who were shot and killed at a meeting where the man was also present. This prompted him to grab a suitcase full of money and his daughter and run away with it all. Now the mafiosi were after this man, but Wonder Woman found him first, saved the little girl and did not let her get under fire.

Doctor Psycho still used his powers to torment Vanessa in her dreams.

Wonder Woman was approached by a man named Asquith Randolph, a White Magician, on a mission that would take her into space, where she would have to rescue a female astronaut, Tasha, on an experimental Russian spacecraft. Once she was on board, Randolph activated the bomb and the ship was launched through space. Diana was able to gain control of the ship, but they were still flying into the unknown. After drifting for two weeks, their ship was saved, but their "rescuers" wanted only one thing - to make slaves out of women. The slave traders took away their clothes and equipment and sent them to a prison planet inhabited only by women. Tasha and Diana were all bruised and beaten, but not broken. They were prisoners for several months (on this planet) working in the quarries. The Kandan prisoner often fought with Diana. There was also another prisoner, Daximite, who was kept in chains as a warning to everyone else. After Diana finally learned some of the alien languages, she learned that their tormentors call themselves the Sangtree and that they exist solely as one species, for a century, and then change to another. Eventually, Wonder Woman was able to rally some of the prisoners, destroy the Sentry power plant, take over their ship, and free the imprisoned Daximite. Assuming the role of a space pirate of sorts, Diana worked diligently, recruiting ships and allies along her path throughout the Sangtree Empire. One of her new friends created an artificial eye for Daximite to replace the lost one. Another Daximit, this time a girl, was named Diana Julia; she agreed to join the fight with the Sentry. Despite betrayal from within, Diana was able to take on the ruler of the Sentry Empire and force him (or her?) to acknowledge the stupidity of the ways of the people of the Empire. With some help from Julia, Wonder Woman finally made it home. In her absence, Randolph became the Hero of Boston.

Diana returned either directly to or before the day of Death of Superman. In any case, she was not at the scene of the battle and could not help in the fight against Doomsday (Doomsday). The monster tore through the entire Justice League of America before being overthrown by the Man of Steel at the cost of his own life. Diana gathered past and current members of the Justice League of America to mourn the death of their friend. Dr. Fate, Inza, finally found Wonder Woman and offered to help her find the cause of Themyscira's disappearance. It looks like a golden statue that looks like Diana washed ashore. The Amazons brought her to Hippolyta, but then something happened - a bright flash of light and an explosion - the island was no more. After convincing herself that her mother was dead, Diana knew that Circe must have been behind it. Doctor Fate was able to track her down, but when they arrived at Circe's lair, all they found were the remains of her - her. Apparently killed by the same death spell she used to destroy Paradise Island.

Wonder Woman began to believe that there was a connection between recent crimes that were committed using high-tech gadgets. Diana started an investigation. She also went with Etta to buy the latter's wedding dress and realized (after Etta passed out) that her friend was starving herself to look slimmer. While she was talking to Etta about it, the Flash appeared and warned Diana about a possible attack on her and that it would be Mayfly. Before he could give a warning, Mayfly appeared and began to shoot. Diana was able to defeat her, but was wounded. While Diana was recuperating in the hospital, Mayfly was murdered in her cell by a lawyer named Donna Milton, who worked for Ares Buchanan, a high-tech gadget supplier and Mayfly's employer. Donna was also pregnant by him.

Donna then introduced herself to Diana, telling her the story of her life, which led Diana to remark that "everything worst that could happen to a woman has happened to you." This, of course, was a ploy. Diana soon became enamored with Donna. Ares Buchanan was actually an avatar of Ares, the god of war, who wasn't ready to completely abandon Earth. He easily took control of the White Magician, making him his assistant, along with Donna Milton. After weeks of friendship, Donna betrayed Diana. However, when Donna refused to let Ares torture Diana, Ares fired first at Donna and then prepared to shoot at Diana. She could not break the chains bound by a powerful spell. Donna, using one of Ares' weapons, created an explosion that sent her and Diana flying hundreds of meters down below Ares' lair. However, this did not kill Donna; moreover, she went into labor. While Donna was having a baby, the White Magician contacted Ares' mafia boss, Sazia, making it clear that Ares had died in the explosion and that they had to act quickly if they were to hold on to power. Sacy was not interested in this and he tried to kill the Magician, but the Magician managed to do it first.

The White Mage, whose powers have increased due to his connection to the demonic dimension, began turning some of his minions into supervillains. One of them, a Dreadnaught, attacked Diana in the hospital, another broke into the Capatelis home, kidnapping Vanessa and severely injuring Julia. Wonder Woman was able to save the day before more of his bandits could kill Etta and Steve. Her patience was exhausted, Diana contacted the mafia people associated with the Magician and warned them that they had an hour to return Vanessa, safe and sound. When they failed to do so, Diana began tearing the gangs apart, tracking down their weapons and ammunition depots and destroying them, leaving the words "no place, no shelter". Missis Sazia, the new head of the Satsiya crime family, decides to betray the Magus so that Wonder Woman will leave her family alone. Diana found the Mage's lair and freed Vanessa, but the Mage himself was not there.

Diana, who suffered from nightmares, began to doubt her mental stability. She sought out Superman and asked him to stop her if she got out of control. This was after the police almost arrested her for her recent behavior. Luckily, Doctor Fate returned and told Diana that she was having the same nightmares - dreams of the end of Themyscira. Repeating the spell that showed them the end of the island, Diana assumed that it had not been destroyed, but that it was all a complex illusion created by Circe. Diana revealed Doctor Fate, who was actually Circe in disguise (or maybe it was an illusion). Circe revealed that she did not destroy Paradise Island, but found a way to move it to the fire dimension, where the Amazons have been fighting for their lives since the day they were imprisoned. Circe offered to return the island if Diana sacrificed an innocent life. She gave her until midnight. Breaking through the illusions of Circe, Diana was unable to save a young runaway named Synthia, who was hit to death by a car. However, with her death, Paradise Island was returned.

New competition. New Wonder Woman.

Diana was delighted - her house, sisters and mother returned. Hippolyta told Diana the whole story of what had happened. Circe brought the renegade Amazons to Paradise Island, luring them with dreams of conquest. They took Hippolyta's Amazons by surprise, and for two days nothing happened but a bloody battle for the city. Too late, Circe's plans became apparent. She used her magic to move the entire island to another dimension, where for ten years (according to the time of that dimension) the Amazons fought the demons. Both tribes had to unite or die. As a reward, Hippolyta set aside an unexplored part of the island for her sister's tribe. Now they are back and the nightmare is over. Diana recounted all the events that had happened to her during these few months - Hippolyta was unhappy. She felt that Diana wasted many opportunities to influence the world at large. Hippolyta announced that she was not sure if she could still trust Diana to represent their island. Frustrated, Diana wanders away from the city with a few of her friends, where she meets Artemis for the first time. Diana was intrigued, if not especially impressed, by the rough and haughty manner of communication of this Antiope Amazon. While they were talking, word came from Hippolyta - there would be a new contest and a new Wonder Woman.

The Decisive Hour (Zero Hour) caused a break in this competition, and Diana joined to your friends to save the universe. However, her involvement proved to be small, even though she did help Power Girl give birth to a child (who seemed to have disappeared and been removed from canon). The Decisive Hour has created subtle differences in the flow of time. Diana follows a strict moral code that forbids her from killing people. Her goal is to achieve harmony between men and women, but she knows very well how long it will take to achieve it.

Diana was the daughter of Zeus and Queen Hippolyta. However, the secret of her origin was hidden to protect the child from the wrath of Zeus's wife Hera, who persecuted and killed her husband's illegitimate children.

Thus was born the legend that Hippolyta created Diana from clay. The Amazons believed in her until Strife, the sisters of the god of war, revealed the truth to them. As a child, Ares trained Diana in the art of war until he called her his worst student due to her belief in mercy and compassion. They became the main principles of the heroine when, as an adult, she went to the outside world.

Diana learned the truth about her origins. When she saved a young mortal woman named Zola from centaurs. Returning with this girl to her island homeland, she met Strife, who informed her that Zola was pregnant by Zeus and that this child would be a relative of Diana. A shocked Diana had a fight with her mother, forcing her to tell the truth. The enraged princess left Themyscira, and when she returned, she found that Hera had turned her mother into a clay statue, and the rest of the Amazons into stone.

Apollo, brother of Diana, learned from his oracles that Zeus had disappeared, leaving the throne, and wanted to take it. Among the other gods, confusion was ripening - Ares was not interested in the throne, while Poseidon and possibly Hades were eager to get it.

Diana, along with the mysterious Lennox, came up with a plan. They had to play the gods against each other in order to protect Zola and find Zeus, whom she still could not imagine her father - as well as come to terms with the idea that he was not.

They were not happy to fight for a human boy (Zola's son Zeke), and even less glad that men brought by Hephaestus from his forges were now fighting on their side in Themyscira.

The armies of the First Born attacked Themyscira, he captured Diana, went with her to Olympus and wanted to force her to marry him in order to start a new dynasty and thus take revenge on Zeus. The warrior refused with contempt, after which he wounded her and set her to die.

During the attack on Themyscira, Zeke's powers began to manifest. He resurrected Hippolyta, who led the Amazons against the Firstborn's army. Wonder Woman returned to take part in the battle and found herself able to thwart the First Born's plan. Hermes sent her with Zola and Zeke to Olympus, where she intended to place the boy on the throne that the First Born coveted to occupy for 7,000 years. During their absence, Poseidon claimed the throne and tried to kill Zeke, but Zola fought him, demonstrating the powers hidden within her. Wonder Woman joined the fight with Poseidon. The First Born then appeared, grabbed Zeke and Zola, but Wonder Woman threw off her bracelets and, declaring herself the god of war and the daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta, challenged the First Born to a final stand. In response, he pushed Zola and Zeke into the abyss from the top of Mount Olympus. Hermes teleported down to rescue them while Wonder Woman lassoed the First Born with the Lasso of Truth. While the First Born could not do anything, Hermes returned with his mother and child to Olympus and put Zeke on the throne, declaring that the boy was Zeus reborn, and Zola was possessed by the divine essence of Athena. The return of Zeus rocked Olympus, almost throwing Wonder Woman and the First Born into the abyss. When he reached out to grab her hand, Diana decided to save Olympus and threw him off. Then she had to beg Athena to leave Zola's life. The merciful request convinced Athena, and she, leaving Zola, flew away in the form of an owl. But at this moment of triumph, tragedy overtook Diana. Justice League

During Diana's absence, the rebellious Amazons performed a ritual using Hippolyta's remains to create Wonder Woman's rival, Donna Troy.
